I have messaged a few times. So far NO RESPONSE. Of course we would like the glaze recipes. I don’t think he will divulge his trade secret. It’s how he makes a living. These videos are really great. However they are a huge tease.
The reason I don't bother to reply with the glaze recipes is that I make them publicly available and easy to find. It's not that it's a secret, or that I'm teasing, it's that nothing appeals to me less than repeating the same answers for people that don't put a little effort into answering their own questions first.
thanks so much, i am learning a lot
Beautifully crafted mugs. You are a real inspiration, thanks so much for sharing your terrific skills and ideas.
Thank you so much!
Your work is so precise. I commend you for the great attention to detail.
These videos are always so mesmerizing to watch 😵💫🙃
Fabulous Joe, your skill is growing exponentially.
Fascinating to watch your tutorial and thanks for the tips
You have such an awesome collection of shirts! I love the one in this video.
Phenomenal! Just beautiful work done well. Seldom few take pride in their craft anymore.
Thank you!
I have never seen so many devices and tools used than in this video.
The mugs are beautiful! Where do you purchase the silver looking tool that looks like a can opener you use to remove the excess clay at the bottom of your mug after throwing?
I love your pottery and your t-shirt collection. I have several items ready to fire after following your tutorials.
Thank you, I'm glad you like them! Good luck with your pieces
Lovely
Super !
Hey, man, ur pottery was really cool
Love these mugs. Are the dots you apply black slip or underglaze. Would you tell us what the color is for the first dip at the rim. Thanks so much
Neither in this case, they're just a slip made from the same clay as the body, so there's no added colour to the dots. And the glaze at the rim is a titanium/rutile white based on Heath Ivory
Love the video and the Mug. Did you also make the beach coaster in the end photo?
What glazes did you use? Beautiful
Beautiful! I love watching these videos so much.
Question: Do the little dots ever turn out sharp? Is there a way to prevent this if so?
They certainly can be. The thicker the slip mix, the sharper they will be. If you get it right the mix should be runny enough to round over on the top when it forms a dot, then flatten out as it dries. If the mix is too thick then it can form a sharp peak and stay that way.
@@OldForgeCreations That makes sense. Great tips. Thank you so much!
Beautiful! Love the effect! Would you mind sharing how to purchase the suction device you used for dipping the mug? Haven't had any luck finding one. Thanks so much!

What do you wash your wax brush with?
love your videos! great pottery! question: I have been trying to use the car dent pull but it never holds the cup securely. Anything particular to look out for when using this ?
Do you wax the bottom and let it dry as he does??
What do you use as a laser level?
Can make sublimation coating mug?
Ciao,che tipo di colori usi?
I like that your studio, and everything you do is so neat and clean, but I wonder how much time it must take to keep it that way…
👍
How do you keep the rims from warping? Just by listening and watching you make mugs, I would have to say that they are very thin and lightweight. Which amazing.
I have more trouble with the rim warping than anything.
Any tips?
Thanks for sharing your talent.
I let everything dry quite a lot before handling, which is only possible with batts. By the time I wire off, the rim is already leather hard and is much stronger. I then dry them the right way up, so the rim is on the dry side of leather hard by the time the base is trimmable, and prevents warping when it goes into the Giffin Grip.
