    I'm gonna say something a little touchy here:
    That light regulator is already being overworked, it's a 12v supply that ends up sagging to 9v under load in its stock state, pulling any more power from it WILL lead to serious issues down the road, like blowing the regulator up.
    They're designed to push a max of 3amps and the lights take more than that apparently.

    • @JamiePineappleWyatt
      @JamiePineappleWyatt Před 2 lety

      I've seen people swap the light system to power a relay and a higher power regulator so they can run high power lights and accessories like the alarm system I run.

    A cheaper way to have a GPS in the scooter,
    are to hide an cheap android watch that have a separate phonecard slot.
    And then use an own 'mobile network phone card', and not sign their expensive monthly payment.
    Then just charge your watch phonecard with the cheapest company.

    Biggest issue with investing in a flash scooter is when you're not riding around affluent you could be targeted in a number of different ways. Which is why I debate between a scooter and a much lower profile ebike conversion.
    some kind of mounted timelapse camera would be a cool security measure. I might research to see if that's even a thing.

    So my question is
    If the scooter is turned off can you still track it?
    If the headlights is turned off can you still track it?
    Would it make more sense to connect it to the brake wires since it is always ON when someone is using the scooter.

    • @GingerOnWheels
      @GingerOnWheels  Před 2 lety +2

      Excellent point and you're very correct. I realized once I had closed the scooter up that the wires going to the display or the voltage read out would have been better wires to tap into. However, this GPS Tracker has a Built-in rechargeable battery that holds a charge when the scooter is turned off. If the scooter is stolen and then turned off for for more than a few days though, than this particular installation would be useless. Hopefully it doesn't take you that long to realize its gone!

    • @corywebb5537
      @corywebb5537 Před 2 lety +1

    If the lights are off there's no way to find the scooter. I was YT searching for how to do this, because it would have to be 12V & ON-always. Connecting it directly to a 48V to a 72V battery pack would likely fry it. So, the only questions on this install are: would a voltage step-down be necessary? Or, is there a 12V ON-always portion of the wiring systems in e-scooters? This answers not!

      The thing uses such little battery that it's not an issue. As long as you ride for an hour or so every few weeks then it'll stay charged. You can wire it to any wire with power in there, though. Even the battery wires, which have power all the time.
