Dude, I remember watching this back in the day, this stuff inspired me to make so many of my own creations. I haven't touched knex since like 2012, but thank you for the memories.
Me too this always give me ptsd and nostalgia because I went to the dentist the day I watched this
Dude yes same. So nostalgic now omg
Same nostalgia mate. Same nostalgia
Such a nostalgic video. I remember watching this as a kid along with all of the other fun Knex vids back then. Good times :)
Same, this is where I started to like building mechanics and structures.
I think this belongs in a children's museum or in some public place, inside a big glass case. This is art of the best kind-- it engages the viewer-- and a whole lot of people would love to see this. I love building fun machines, and this is a hundred miles beyond my capabilities. Deep respect for you.
Jonas Clark But if it's in a big glass case, it can't engage anybody. Things like this ought to be open for play and looking, not for ogling.
Let check out my game "Marble Ball Adventure" available with ios and android
Jonas Clark I remember going to a knex museum in Peoria Illinois. It would be a good place for this thing.
BrettPro253 they won't give up, do you even internet?
when I was 5-7 I watched this thousands of times and now I'm watching it and it brings back memories.
Same
Please tell me you are an engineer of some sort. The world NEEDS people like you.
I know right
I can't decide if I think the creator is a microprocessor architect (the binary counter at the top is a huge factor) an amazing mechanical engineer (the subtlty is incredible), a mad scientist, or all 3!? What an epic feat! Thank you for sharing with us.
Amazing!
זאת מכונת הכדורים הכי טובה שראיתי.-אגב אהבתי את הסיבובים!!!
Could be an architect who designs rollercoasters... lots of perfectly calculated physics involved.
Pretty sure he's just a devoted k'nex ball machine maker
8 days and it will have been a decade since this video came out in 2010. Watched this when I was 10 years old all the time when I was in love with K’nex. Fast forward to now in 2020 I’m 19 years old and work at a prison, but own 2 pinball machines and am wanting to make my own sometime in my lifetime. And I can accredit my love to them and marble machines because Mr. Rogier inspired me with this video all those years ago with this beautiful creation. Thank you.
Hi Gabe
Ah sweet, man made internet stalkers beyond my comprehension. Seriously tho to the original creator thanks for liking my comment, it means a hell of a lot. I’ve been doing pinball repair as my full time job now as PribsPinballRepair, thanks again for the inspiration
My son who is 6 years old and I just watched your video. This is truly amazing and inspiring. Perhaps it is the sound of the balls going through it that I enjoyed the most. So many wonderful aspects of the Metropolis and all so very unique from one another. Wouldn't it be cool if we could shrink ourselves down to the size of these balls and take a ride down all of its pathways...what joy that would be. Thank you for making this.
Congrats on taking the spot as number 1 most viewed K'nex ball machine
Thanks!
Both of your videos were completely fucking epic!
Both videos are incredible... thanks to both of you for putting so much effort into making them! I know first-hand that while it's really fun to build these things, planning and filming a video isn't always as much fun.
I have know idea how i got to this part of youtube, but this is the coolest construction i've seen!
Agreed takes your breath away
This is my childhood! Glad that I found it again!! So great!
Everything was perfect. The music, the editing, EVERYTHING! I'm in love.
This should be in a museum!!
Ben Anderson for real
You didn't tear that masterpiece down, did you?
You should seriously consider selling this to a children's museum! My 6 year-old absolutely loves this video!
If I had a machine like this for Christmas, I'd be watching it all day long.
watching again in 2018, never gets old, still incredible
Mathew Mammen yeet
Im watching in 2019
The choir sounds like they keep saying "BALL, BALL" XD
This is by far one of THE best K'nex ball machines ever created.
This was the first CZcams video that I remember watching as a child, still fascinating to see this incredible machine!
I felt like in Aperture Science for a few seconds.
the music feels like it and the construction looks complicated, exactly like aperture building and puzzle
The balls are a lie!
l see you have 475 dislikes (any person who does this is either blind, crazy, or SUPER dumb!!!) literally who would dislike this??? This was truly EPIC!!!!!! nobody could possibly do this except YOU!!!!
Ana Montez I couldn't have said that any better. :) I have to give you a thumb for writing that post.
Watching this makes me go nuts (in a good way) :p
When you look at the dislikes, you stop looking at the likes.
Look at the likes.
Why does everyone focus on the dislikes?
people that dislike this wanna see the world burn..
Lego fans
When I was 11 I watched this with my Dad and I begged him to please build a course like this with me. So we did. I tried to recreate Path 4 and got to spend so much time with my Dad building it. I'm glad I saw this video. :)
I think I have watched this about 60 times for inspiration for my own machine
Sorry if you've answered this before, but, was the design for this AMAZING sculpture thought-out and/or plotted before-hand, or was it done just on the fly as you went along?
Just as beautiful as the day i first watched it
I still keep coming back to watch this. Thank you
I watched this over and over again when I was in elementary school. Thanks for the memories dude.
Jesus! That thing is so big and complex it appears to have an IQ.
Hoshimaru57 a mind of its own
What an amazing machine! Would you have any similar items that could be made available to our museum for display, perhaps on a short-term loan basis? We specialise in mechanical, moving exhibits and something like this would be a great fit for our museum. I would love to hear from you. Best wishes, Iain Simmons. The MAD Museum (UK).
+The MAD Museum Thanks you very much :) Your museum is awesome and I really want to visit it someday! I will contact you If I make something like this again in the future.
+Kairah89 Thank you so much for the kind words! PLease do come and visit us someday. All the best, Iain
+Kairah89 What a great mind u have. Very impressive.
The MAD Museum jbvjgyyjkk
LOLOLO FUCKIN REJECTED BRO
Twelve years later and I still come back to this video. Blows my mind how well you synced the video to the music too! Hope you’re still around, making cool stuff!
You're very welcome. It was my honor and pleasure to watch this video of a work of art.
Are you human ? Wow, congrats man ! That's awesome !
Philip Glass!
Koyaanisqatsi OST is best song.
I remember watching this In 2013 because not only this Ball machine Is crazy but the video Is just as crazy good too !
Props to you man because, your music taste and edit on this one Is just soooooooooooo Inspiring (I still watch this video almost once everyweek)
My 7 year old says: You are really awesome at building stuff. I have one box of k'nex and I can't build a hubongous thing like you. That is really huge. And it reaches all the way to the ceiling. You are an awesome k'nex builder!
Too much Time+Talent*too much Imagination=THIS
this things deserve a place in kids national museum.. it'll inspire kids and parent about creativity from a simple object (when i was kid, the most complicated object i created from this stuff is a truck :-/ actually i had a lot of this stuff, and ended up creating 11 truck :-| )
reown tars r
As a lover and a casual builder of K'nex myself, let me just say: Absolutely incredible my friend. Truly something to be proud of.
Since Metropolis, I eat K'nex, I sleep K'nex and I see K'nex !!
Thanks for this amazing video, song and sculpture;)
Now don't you get sick lol jk
... ;)
Man, this is art :)
What kind of messed-up person actually DISLIKES this?!
The ones captured in a basement all their childhood long. poor guys!
The kind that can't afford this amazing contraption.
dsadams17 i could never afford something like this knex is shit expensive in south africa
Reinier Basson
So is Lego in Germany. Probably Knex too. Its just plastic but expensive like its made out of metal
more like cocain and gold
That's amazing! My grandma had K'nex and i didn't even knew what to do with it. I was just tooo young to understand. All i did was to put some pieces together somehow... By watching this make me now remember that time and realize that you can do a lot with it!
Still enjoy watching this mother of all K'nex ball machines in action.
Do you have a job/in college etc? You have an incredible talent. You could have a hell of a job as an engineer or designer.
this is epic. Simple as that.
Deep, deep respect for someone who can build this. A true K'nex black belt.
Man I can FEEL the nostalgia
And I only found this around a year ago!
And also the music choice odly enough fits in, its doesnt take away from the brilliant engineering and work that was put into this.
Where did you get all the pieces from? I would love to build complex designs, yet am restricted to the small quantity I have. Any websites, stores, etc. that you or anyone reading this comment would like to recommend? I looked into several stores, unfortunately it's getting harder to find k'nex kits and motors on the shelves.
how did I get here
I don’t even know how I got here
These mechanical marvels go back to the Isle of Rhodes 2500 years ago. We have come a long way with this machine.
Such genius! As I watch it I can just imagine it being some kind of compact fantasy city built up like a mountain, passably all made of wood and in a dark place with spectacular lights of all colors.
You have some good engineering skills.
you have a creative mind.
I would be more than willing to pay you for your time to remake this so each track is made from one solid color.
HOW DID YOU DO THIS IN UNDER A YEAR IT TOOK ME HALF AN HOUR TO BUILD A TINY LEGO CAR.... WTF!?!?!?!?!?!!
he skilled
man, this gives me nostalgia. i used to watch this a lot when i was about 5-7
Waking up on a Saturday in 2010 this was the first thing I clicked on. Little did I know that this video would lead me to my degree in engineering.
Now take it all apart. Your fingers will love you.
GlintTheStrong no!
I love the fucking weird choice of music, but Philip Glass is always a weird choice so I guess kinda not at the same time. :U
I 've watched this video for many times and it always fascinates me again.
Congratulations with the most viewed K'nex ball machine video!
After all the years I still think this is the gold standard of K'nex ball machines and at nearly 4 million views it is not surprising! I hope you build another one soon :D
The music makes me feel sorry for the balls as if they are being murdered.
do you or do you not work at mr. magorium's wonder emporium?!?!
Definitely a work of Art and hard work. You have to be very involved to create something of this magnitude.Congratulations......and I love the music you chose.
This is amazing I used to play with K'nex when i was younger and I never built anything this sophisticated. I never even thought of anything close to this. Its so awesome!!!!
*sigh* Now I wanna go get my K'nex out of the attic...
haha I had the same thought
problem is I don't have enought tp do this
please never disassemble
all these things are disassemble at a moment because the creator need pieces for build new creations, wich are often better than the last build. So, I think he has disassemble this build a long moment ago...
and I think, he have stop build with k'nex because his last activity dating at 7 years ago.
This is nothing short of amazing! I cannot believe how many paths you crammed into that as well. To maneuver all that around itself is mind blowing! Keep up the amazing work!
I THINK YOU SHOULD BECOME A ROLLERCOASTER ENGINEER BECAUSE THIS VIDEO JUST BLOWS MY MIND AND PUTS IT BACK TOGETHER IN THE WORDS THIS VIDEO IS AWSOME
This song was on GTA 4 right?
No, it was Koyaanisqatsi.
Guys the song is actually called pruit foe
We didn't have K'nex when I was growing up, but I did have a cool set of wooden cubes with differently-oriented holes, so you could stack the blocks and drop a chrome ball from the top and it would wind its way through the interior of the construct, and if you did it correctly it would come out the bottom. Miss that toy!
I remember watching this video so much growing up. It seems I would watch it every week when I got tablet time when I was like 8 and on later devices we owned throughout the years and it’s definitely been a couple years since I’ve last seen it. It’s odd to think something so odd is such a big piece of my memories from being a little kid.
These are the guys that will be the top villains in our future technology automaton dystopia. Just love it.
I've been digging this particular vid since upload...love the music...sounds like their singing/chanting, "BALL!"
Totally amazing work!
I wish I could give you as many likes as many K'nex that were used to make this.
Absolutely amazing!!!! I got to say that whoever built the Metropolis is a genius!!!
holy fuck i do not have the patience nor the creative willpower to make something this fucking amazing.
lovely. this is right up there with Chris Burdens work. if not better in it's simplicity. great job!
I remember watching this when I was a kid. I was like 9 years old watching this on our computer thinking that this was the coolest thing ever. I'm 23 now
I used to watch this all the time like 5 years ago! i love it so much
You're a god among men, sir. This is an amazing architectural feat.
I first watched this in 2011 and I am still amazed by this machine.
This video is the main inspiration for my own K'nex Fushigi creation. Thank you Kairah89
Dude, 10 months of his life spent playing with his balls, RESPECT. This video is awesome
this is so adorable!! and those balls make the cutest sounds ever!! the balls themselves look adorable and cute!! they make the most lovely sound ever!!
This is insane !
I remember adding a bunch of tracks to the big ball factory when I was a kid, but it didn't hold a candle to this !
This is perfectly filmed. Show the whole thing, Then each path, then let me be RE-amazed by showing me the whole thing again now that I know how complex it really is.
The fact that this masterpiece exists has restored my faith in humanity. Or maybe I'm just in that weird part of youtube again...
Wauw, never seen so mush chilled reaction on a movie.
That is the coolest thing I have ever seen!!! I think it should be in a museum.
1. I would pay money to go see this machine operate live.
2. What's really amazing is that it only took a little bit over 29 pieces to make it.
Still just as awesome today to watch!
Wow freaking sick!!! Damn i have no clue how u incorporated all those different paths into one, freaking genius bro congrats im blown away.
I love all the clicks. The clacks are great too.
Very compact and beautiful knex ballmachine!
My jaw droped at 8th minute and I still can't get it back! Amazing!
3:57 I always imagine this part of "Pruit Igoe" by Philip Glass as being sung by chickens.
hahaha, that's actually true although it's really sung by a women's choir.
You should get paid for making this, I bet a lot of science and/or children's museums would be interested.
Love this video. I will always come back and watch it
Wow, this is a beautiful piece of engineering, and a great video.
Bravo!
Wauw, amazing machine and movie.
That is a work of art! Nice movie to show it. Good music choise.
I never watched how long the movie would still last when i was viewing this spectacle. Thank u sir
