      @@LostTribeAdventures For sure... And maybe people will watch and learn and not make the same mistake... That's why I put out an episode on my YT channel about me being a drongo and accidently put petrol in my 79 series diesel tank, and then I explained what to do if you do... Hopefully someone learns from my mistake... Let me know when it's a good time to reach out to you guys and continue on from our last conversation..👍

    I love your honesty…
    As has been mentioned, run an additional leg extension. This increases range of movement but more importantly improves stability as less of the “thin” leg section protrudes. The other benefit is you can mount the BOS leg up high using the lowest rib and leave it on your van permanently. BOS provide a locking bolt to replace the existing clamp handle for security. It will still clear a stone stomper. Also if parked on uphill slopes you only fit one extension and you can drop the drawbar right down close to the ground.
    Just check with your van manufacturer if they are happy to lift / level your van with BOS legs… many people have damaged floors and the corner sealing using these. Our van is one of the high end off-road van manufacturers and they strongly advise against using them for leveling.
    By the way… if your yellow jerrycans are diesel… just check the legislation in relation to storage of fuel in impactable areas.
    Love your videos.

      Thanks mate, yea we wanted to see what these legs can and can’t do, let’s say we found the limits 😂 since this video we have been leveling every time with the legs, works perfectly 🫶

  • @hsvme6508

    We have the BOS legs and jockey, great bit of kit. Get yourself the extensions from BOS for the legs and Jockey. We use them all the time. We have 2 for the jockey, and 3 for the legs. That covers us for most situations. You can also do away with the Jack for the van (saving weight) you can use the boss legs to lift the van to change a flat, have also done this recently and they work a treat. Just don’t lift a side for long periods as you can bend stuff on the chassis, no prob levelling front to back as the weight is still mostly on the wheels. just not side to side. Thx for the video

    Just a thought but I wouldn’t try and level it using the boss unless it’s under the main chassis beam ! From your pics it’s doesn’t look like it ! think about the weight in between the lifting points it does have a tendency to bend your you side walls out of shape with the flex there perfectly fine to support the front with no jockey wheel cheers 😊

    I understand the people at BOS, say you can lift the van with those legs, but you might want to contact the van/chassis manufacturer to see if those points on the van are designated lifting points. That's why they call them stabiliser legs.
    It's no skin off BOS to say you can as it won't come back to them if you bend that part of the chassis

    • @LostTribeAdventures
      @LostTribeAdventures  Před 6 měsíci

      totally understand, we were pushing the limit on this stay but we have now done multiple stays with using the bos legs as levellers, works so well and really once you get it down pat, its not really under any stress as the weight is still taken up by the wheel on the ground. But like I mention ill be keeping people posted in a few months as its a massive saving of weight over the airbags 🍻🤙

    Hey mate...Live and learn. Watching you jack up the legs and lifting the car at the same time was always going to make it difficult to unhitch from the DO35. A lot of stored energy in that coupling in that position and would have let go with a bang. Retract the legs, unlock the coupling, take the weight with the jockey and then level up again.

    • @LostTribeAdventures
      @LostTribeAdventures  Před 6 měsíci +1

      oh 100%, and that is what the whole experience was.. to see the limits of what these legs can or can't do really.. since filming this episode we have levelled the van a hand full of time only with the legs..Works awesome really. thanks again for the comment and support 🫡🍻

    Another great ep, guys. Looking forward to more trials of the boss stabilisers; they look handy. Bent the leg on our power jack recently-stopped at overnighter, too stuffed to disconnect, jacked up the van + cruiser = bent leg (just enough to make it a hassle). Fortunately, the caravan manufacturer sent me a new one for free!
