I've found that the worst part about retail pharmacy isn't the patients AT ALL. Its the pharmacists and techs you work with. Pharmacists are condescending (yet they want respect from physician's, nurses, etc) and they're always at least one tech that acts like a manager but isn't. But it's funny when you say you're going to the hospital or move on. Then and only then, people start to respect you.
I do agree with all of that.
This came out in the nic of time because I’ve been struggling a lot with if to quit my job. I just started as a training pharm tech in a retail pharmacy and the first month was great I was enjoying learning about all the drugs and helping customers. But now after being there almost 4months i can honestly say I hate it 🤦🏽♀️ I’ve been having issues with one of my co workers ( a woman older than me not old just older than me ) and she makes an already stressful day worse and she’s mean for no reason. Amidst all this covid stuff work has gotten more stressful, customers have become more mean and I’m a sensitive person and it honestly is taken a toll on me. The workload has also increased that I come home so exhausted its ridiculous. I don’t wanna quit because I feel like I’ll be craping on gods blessing of providing me with this job. Can u please give me advice on if I should leave or continue to push through at least for the six months to a year so that I have the experience under my belt
Wanderlust Visuals Push through and stay prayed up. God will either give you the strength to continue or give you the peace to move on. Techs are needed during this time. It may be a thankless job but you are appreciated

PharmacyTechLove So glad u responding, I got layed off last week without any explanation, even after I pushed myself everyday to get out of bed to go to work. So I’m a bit down atm but hopeful that I’ll get another job soon.
I’m exactlyyy at the same situation! So far my coworkers have been nice to me and it’s only been 3 months… but it’s mainly the customers or if we have a floater. I’m trying to push through too… but it’s a temporary position so hopefully in November I’ll pass my PTU and move on 🙏🏽
So I was wondering about hours? I’m a mom and I’ve applied to a few pharmacies and they almost all tell me that the hours are not great, except maybe if you’re doing compounding. I’ve tried compounding, I didn’t like it.
Should I forgo the hours thing and work when they need me to or should I be descriptive about hours I can and cannot work? Bc I honestly think that hurts my chances of getting work.
Only apply at a job who’s hours work for you and your children. I had to quit a great paying job and take a pay cut to be home with my daughter when she was young.
I just got hired at Walmart and they terminated me a week later because they made A mistake with my pay I think I am done with retail I went to pharmacy school because I wanted to be appreciated at my Job where can I go not dealing with customers

I want to do my next video on this but I’m trying to make sure I understand what you’re struggling with. Are you meaning adding medication from a vial to an IV bag and then determining how much from the vial to use? Please help me understand what you need help with.
@@PharmacyTechLove ok..these are the directions for the math problems...I am using a vial to answer the questions... adding of additives for calculations and rounding to the nearest whole numbers for minutes and drip rates.

Walgreens retail is hell! Especially for techs . The pay is so small. And they overwork us. Try your best to get certified and do your Iv! Go work in the hospital .
