New West Symphony's Executive Director, Natalia Staneva, and Music Director Marcelo Lehninger interview world famous violinist, Sarah Chang.
Meet the Artist is a joint effort between New West Symphony and TOTV (Government Television for the City of Thousand Oaks) to create a Community Outreach program that offers a rare opportunity to get up-close and personal with the artists performing Masterpiece Series. Free and Open to public.
This program was recorded in the Janet & Ray Scherr Forum Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Sarah Chang shows that she also has the skill to pass on her knowledge, unlike many Violinists who can play but not pass on their knowledge. Obviously she picked up how to teach and give inspiration to others from her famous teacher, Dorothy Delay.

It is almost cartoonish how the violin of the girl playing Beethoven seems to literally come alive in the hands of Sarah. It is a perfect match. It seemed supernatural. She should buy that violin!
Sarah's current one is free and it's much better sound. Why spend money?
I don't know if I would say it is a much better sound perse. Sure in general it is most likely a much better violin. The chemistry between a player and an instrument can make an instrument that is mediocre in one persons hands phenomenal in the right persons, and I don't mean necessarily in eqation to their skill level. The violin that the girl has had a special quality in Sarah's hands and would be wonderful alternative for certain pieces that could benefit a more focused and sinewy tone.
+intervalkid it's the player's skill. Not the instrument. Any violin can be a Stradivarius by Sarah's power. Trust me.

글 쓰기 전에 과연 내 자신이 이 글을 쓸 자격이 되는지를 진지하게 물어본 다음에 신중하게 썼으면 한다.
I think both the kids played well, but the boy's style doesn't really fit Mozart's pieces... The playing is probably a little too extravagant, like the style of a Romantic piece rather than the reserved atmosphere a classical piece needs. But he still played REALLY well.
I fully agree!! Both were near perfect from a technical point of view. I would say that the Mozart concerto played by the boy is more advanced than the Beethoven Romance, but I preferred the style of the girl, especially the tone. From a style point of view, Mozart requires a very delicate and more restrained style than the way it was played.

What the F?!!!??? No one will able to beat Sarah's achievement. She played Paganini violin concerto with orchestra at age 9.
And her sweetest sound with romantic pieces, no one can play louder and stronger than her since her debut at 8. She's the strongest.

Sarah is a fantastic musician. There are many great musicians that came from very poor families and many of them barely could afford an instrument. I have more appreciation for those than for the ones whose families were wealth as the case of Ms. Chang. Her violin was bought by her father and price of her violin is tremendously high.

Nyck461 Sarahs violin, if I'm not mistaken, was gifted to her by the late Issac Stern. I'm not quite sure which Violin you mean her father bought.

연주야 최고라 하지만 연주자 모습도 중요하다.
네덜런드에서 시벨리우스 연주할 때만 해도 섹시하다 싶었는데, 몸매가 확실히 한국형은 아님. 저런 허리 라인은 WESTERN 여성의 것.
동감합니다. 미국은 좋은 점이 참 많은 곳인데, 동시에 junk food 를 조심해야 하는 곳이기도 하죠. 애퍼타이트를 많이 자극하는 가공음식은, 우리 신체가 분해를 못하고 전부 지방으로 쌓아 버리거든요. 그러니까, 산업시대 만들어진 음식은 몸이 전혀 받아들이지 않는 겁니다.
아줌마 사이즈에 비할 바가 아니죠. 한국 아줌마들은 waist size 가 저렇게까지 '못'나옵니다. 한국 30~ 40대 여성 허리 평균 사이즈가 30~31 인치입니다. 한국에서는 33인치가 넘으면 복부비만이라고 하는데 그건 엉덩이 사이즈가 크지 않기 때문이죠. 저런 사이즈에는 함부로 허리 33 인치가 비만 기준이라고 말 하기 어려울 듯해요.
어쨌거나, 사라씨는, 이런 조건(?)에서 스트레이트 보다 웨이브 헤어가 어울립니다. 그리고 실크 같은 명암이 들어가는 드레스가 유리합니다.
세계적인 바이올리니스트 영상에 할말이 고작 이런것밖에 없다니 수준 알만하네요~
사라 장은 한국계이지만 미국에서 태어났고, 미국인이나 마찬가지죠. 섹시하면서 자신감있고, 카리스마 멋져요.
세게적으로 탑인 연주가한테 할말은 아니지만 스트레스를 많이 받은듯..
옛날 사진이랑 비교해보니 머리카락도 많이 삐진거 같음.
하지만 밀투에서 느껴지는 인성도 좋고 긍정적이고 영원한 연주가임에는 틀림없다
