    Greetings!
    Welcome to my first-time hearing BLACK SABBATH. They are such an exuberant and energetic band. I cannot wait to hear more. ✨💗
    This song and music video "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath is exceedingly mesmerizing. It is such an energizing song and I love it even though I do feel a little paranoid during and after listening to it. 👀
    Ozzy Osbourne, Toni Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward are truly accomplished men. I could only wish to have such talent.
    Please do listen/watch the ORIGINAL "Paranoid" music video by Black Sabbath WITHOUT my commentary and insights.
    You will NEVER regret it💓:

    Please keep in mind that I do pause, and I do talk in the video. If you want to watch a music video without interruptions, I do suggest that you watch the original!! 😊
    Thank you so much!
    Have a lovely day and evening!!✨

    Ozzy once said he didn't want to write songs for the hippies and flower children. He wanted to write songs that terrified them. He came from a rough and dirty industrial city.

    For more of this great band and their pioneering heavy metal, start with the first album and their first tune, Black Sabbath from their debut album of the same name. It started their great, ominous sound and scared the crap out of radio stations, the only ones who played the first album were college radio, that changed a bit with the second album, Paranoid, you just saw the title track, it, along with Iron Man and War Pigs got some airplay on commercial radio. They are utter legends, do the entire first album as time permits and listen in wonder to what these guys accomplished in one weekend in late 1969. Incredible! Enjoy.

      @@AmarissNevae The song Black Sabbath scared EVERYONE when they first heard it in 1970, mainstream radio wanted nothing to do with them. Once you got past the shock of hearing this new kind of heavy music, we were hooked, the rest of that album is just as great and wait until you hear Warning, one of the 5 best guitar solos I ever heard and you will have a better appreciation of just how great this band was, their first 6 albums are right there with Led Zeppelin for best run of music ever. Rock On my dear, I have since the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan in 1964, I was one of millions of screaming kids looking on in wonder at the TV...

    This group brought about "Satanic Panic," primarily in the southern U.S. Satanic Panic was a period in American History where the christians lied about heavy metal music and the performers, to the point where extreme reactions resulted in the ostracization of young people who listened to and promoted Heavy Metal music.

    • @AmarissNevae

      The Christians might have misunderstood songs like "War Pigs". The lyrics talk about "Generals gathered in their masses, just like Witches at black Masses". And "satan, laughing spreads his wings". The song is a moral critique of war mongering military leaders and politicians ("making war just for fun"). Yet the song concedes a Christian reality of "the Hand of God", "Day of Judgement", "Satan" etc. This is not unlike John Lennon's famous song "Imagine" where it presupposes the Christian reality of "Heaven and "Hell" and to imagine just the opposite. BTW The Rolling Stones might have started a satanic panic themselves in the 1960's with their 1967 Album, "Their Satanic Majesties Request". And their 1968 song, "Sympathy For the Devil". But yes the "panic" was prevalent in the 1970's, long before the SRA (Satanic Ritual Abuse hysteria) in the 1990's among Christians and Psychotherapists. The 2001 mystery film, "Session 9" touches on this latter theme.

    Before the band was called 'Earth' they were known as 'The Polka Tulk Blues Band.' They had a lot of struggles early on and with the group's management that told them they weren't cutting it and needed to make a change or else the group would be dropped. The name change to Black Sabbath and new direction clearly worked (which they took from the 1963 Boris Karloff horror film) with the debut record in 1970 and the rest is history..

    When given an opportunity to excel at the expense of another human beings seldom spare any expense at the task... or so the saying goes. As it pertains to these lyrics, I think your assertion is really spot on. Finding happiness externally seldom works. As for the music, Sabbath or legendary. You must remember contextually that this is barely a year or two removed from The Summer of Love 1968 vibe..... and Sabbath came along utilizing these darker chords and chord progressions, the tones were very distorted, and the vibe was just an altogether different thing. Not to mention still catchy but Black Sabbath were innovators in a big big big big big big way

      @AmarissNevae  Před 7 dny

      I like that Black Sabbath went outside of the bounds of The Summer of Love. I can only imagine how refreshing it was for several ears. I admire their innovation, as you say, and willingness to do something no one else ever had. ✨️✨️🎼✨️✨️

    You can't read much into this song, it really just a filler, they needed 3 more minutes for the album, and they came up with this song on the fly, but it turned into one of their biggest hits. If you like them, you should start at the beginning their first song is "Black Sabbath" on the first album Black Sabbath. Their music gets progressively better with every album. Great reaction, Thanks.
