I've now watched all NES Ninja Gaiden's back to back, and I've discovered Ryu's four favorite phrases:
"Irene!"
"What in the..."
"What the..."
"What?!"
I like how this game gave Ryu a digitized voice whenever he attacks! Awesome and powerful for a NES game.
It's the sword
@@reymicroc Sounds like a voice to me.
You can hear it when he takes damage as well, and this causes him to make more of an "ngh!" sound.
Dude good call out. That's awesome
The music here is pretty badass.
Right, the snes f it up smh
Dang!!!! Only 1 bar life on the final Boss...*throw off my hat to you Sir*
My favorite NES game
long live to ninja gaiden !
I like how they added that sound effect with Ryu's sword swinging, and it sounds good too. Very impressive.
*ha*
@@44bigfreezepah pah pah pah pah PAH PAH!
I'm surprised nobody in the comments I've read mentioned the fact that the video repeats itself without sound.
I'm a little confused about this too. What's the deaf version for?
Не шуточный такой сюжет: интриги, убийства, предательства, црушники, двойные агенты... уууу, и это лишь NES игрушка. Обожаю её!
Love the ending song so much, been many years since I last heard of it, sends goosebumps all over me.
i love that old school music. So refreshing.
адский шедевр. это просто отпад. музыка и сюжет опережали свое игровое время.
I remember in the 90's, every kid used to hate me because no could make it till the end but me. And there was no "save game" too.
Abhinav Kumar In the 3rd one there is a password feature on the Japanese Famicom. Makes this one easier.
They were just jealous
I was also one of the kids that was better at NES than most other kids, and that got you respect back in the day, lol
The final 2 bosses are a complete PAIN. To make things worse when you die you have to zap back 2-3 stages and go through the torture all over again just to get to those 2 nearly invincible nastiest, I find that Ryu's Father is even harder than the final boss.
im impressed.... just 1 bar of life left!! you killed the BIG BOSS!!!
Pareciera vencer a un jefe en modo de:
¡Muerte Subita! ¡La verdadera batalla Final!
Famicom version is the one I grew up with. I also play NES version recently, but something strange:
Famicom version is very fair challenging:
- Unlimited continues
- Password with 4 characters
- Easier level design
- Go back to the last block (stage 1-1[insert alphabet here]), but not restart the boss fight when you died.
NES version is freaking hard:
- 5 continues (not no continue according to AVGN)
- No password
- Harder level design
- Go back to the block A when you died, even when you lost the boss fight.
How nostalgic. This is my one of favorite NES/Famicom game :3
wait a minute, AVGN didn't say "no continue" o.O
Famicom version isn't "fair", it's ridiculously easy. I beat it without continues on my first attempt ever. It's understandable that they increased the difficulty for the USA release
For the 3rd Ninja Gaiden game AVGN meant they're was not unlimited continues in the game hence the 5 continues in the game tecmo had no business messing with that they should kept the unlimited continues for this one...
BomberMonkAssassin35 I completely disagree. While the limited continues does make it a lot harder to practice the game, there is really no fun in completing a game like this on multiple continues. Allowing some deaths is what the lives system is for!
I've finished hard one - NES ver. (Pegasus in Poland) about 20 years ago, and i'm still only one known for me man who done that :)
Why is this video half credits and half gameplay? Could have cropped it at the 50 minute mark.
A hard-as-hell NES game with an environmental message........... what a combination to kill for!
Thank you! I never made it past the beginning of stage 5, playing on Atari Lynx some 16 years ago. Now I finally get to see how it ends.
One of few NES games that had parallax scrolling.

A biohazard and a monster called a bio noid. An early incarnation of Umbrella?
"Look at this body, full of super life power!" Lulwut?
This could make a good shirt logo lol
Ninja Gaiden 3: The Subspace Emissary
Also, the fact that you defeated the final form with one life meter was impressive. Not very nice for the game devs to refuse to even fill up your health in between, but you stuck it out.
Loooooved this game. And it's the only game I could beat as a kid from the series.
only ogs know that this channel was once called cubex55
Foster looks like Mitt Romney
aaaah god !! memories, one of the best games i played
i used to play this game when when i was in 8th std. It was a very very tough game and it made me crazy for this game.... Ninja gaiden still remain my most favorite game.
Man, does this bring back MEMORIES! I think I first bought this with my birthbay monie back in my mid teens I believe. The memory of eating a Sonic's chili pie, slurping an ice cold Ocean water and so some reason Anne Lennox's song Make me love you more" are tied to this game. Hard as hell, but I did manage to beat it!
I don't understand why so many people dislike this game - I always thought that it was very well-designed, and overall highly enjoyable.
Yes, the American version is extremely difficult, but I felt that it was difficult in a way that made me excited, and determined to keep trying.
One of the toughest game ever !
The first NG I owned, I think i got it in '91. Never owned parts I or II until the year 2000. My best run through on this game was exactly 30 minutes, and i even continued twice !! Of course, i skipped all the cinema scenes (Yes, I'm that good at it). Bravo on the last incarnation of the boss !
Shoooooowww. O 1º jogo que finalizei na vida. VALEEEEUUUU!!!!
So am I the only one who noticed that the background in 4-1 is upside down? The orange sky is down, the black mountains are higher, and the green treetops are up top.
Always drove me nuts to never see anyone ever talk about it.
You're a real professional, man...
He used savestates
I can do better
omg I remember that old lady that transformed in to giant spider and after it the Airplane level!!! Every level was unique love this game sooo much
Among the best ones games ever made
That's not an airplane, that's a warship!
"!!" in this game basically means "dafuq?"
44:51 batman makes a cameo
My childhood memories :)
Wow... Your video gameplay is very good!!!
Thank you for your help in NES Ninja gaiden 3 game!!!
I like it!!!
;)
16:14 - 16:24
dang. he knows exactly how to handle these spikes.
perfect timing.
the best looking NES game
Best 8 bit game ever!
@fingrid
I definitely agree with you about it being a weird story. This was perhaps the most convoluted storyline ever conceived. The game itself was pretty good, but the story was so random and far fetched and didn't even attempt to tie in with the other games. It seemed more like a stand alone game than a follow up. The only real connection it had with the other games was Foster and Irene. Other than that, it could have been named anything else and it probably would have been unknown.
Why is it playing again halfway through the video while muted
I am a biomedical scientist and once I applied for a job at a remote lab in the mountains, but the rising lava floors (OHSA violation, anyone?) and the GIANT FLYING FIREBALL-SPITTING ROBOT in the central conference room just turned me off...
ps fantastic graphics fantastic gameplay fantastic game...
"select + up" my friend "select + up" is the way to go XD
I was always confused, was the area 6 boss supposed to be Foster or the fake Ryu? They never really identify him before you fight.
The fake Ryu
Man, that game was so much easier than the first.
I used to beat this without losing much HP 15-16 years ago, my NES gamepads has the turbo buttons which made it easier to kill the bosses.
The first Ninja Gaiden 3 that I've played.
I like to play Ninja gaiden iii nes on Nintendo enterainment system and it is totally awesome!!!
Este para mi es el mejor Ninja gaiden de la NES,
(Admito que el final verdadero es el del 2 pero este me gusta Mas).
THE 3RD PART OF THE FINAL BOSS WAS THE MOST LOL THING I'VE EVER WITTNESSED/SEEN
LOLOLOLOL :)
This game... I live to regret never finishing it, despite being able to get to the final boss on 1-life, only to never beat the final boss. :(
I beat the first two and i find this one to be the hardest
Limited continues assure this, the Japanese version has infinite continues like the first 2 games.
Melhores músicas do nes!👊👊👊
I finished this games like a houndred times without energy and sword. I still remember buying this game on a saturday morning(i was 10 years old) and finishing it by noon. I was a bit dissapointed of finishing it too fast.
The music and sound become a bit jittery/muffled after the first (and only) death. I love how NG II ends with the sun setting, and III the sun rising....
Ninja Gaiden 2 was my favorite. This one always looked kinda mashed together from previous ones in terms of design or perhaps just not well thought out to me. The music isn't as good either imo.
Pimphand Gamester 2 is my least favorite because of how weakened the hitbox is on Ryu's sword.
@@Hayao Pretty sure the hitbox for Ryu's Dragon sword is the same in both Ninja Gaiden 1 and Ninja Gaiden 2 .
Holy cow, this game looks hard. I thought NG2 Dark Sword of Chaos was hard.
good playing skills eventhough you lost a live or so you still accomplished your set goal ,,
congrats mate well done
+Stimulator7 you need the fire wheel you can rush through the spike i did it with 70 sec left to the boss
This game is the hardest in the NES trilogy due to the limited continues.
I find it easier for one reason. NO RESPAWNING ENEMIES. That makes all the difference in the world.
And the unforgiving checkpoints. Hey, at least you get a bigger sword
The Timer doesn't reset when you reach the boss in each stage, that's unfair.
Even worse, even the really long levels only give you 250 seconds on the timer. That makes it brutal...
@kherubhm I agree with this assessment. Clancy really just felt tacked on for the sake of "What a twist!". The surprise "real mastermind" was kind of a fad in gaming when this game was made, which is likely why Clancy was added.
i dont know how this guy plays it so easily. This was so damn difficuilt. it took me months to come to the last boss. But I never saw the ending since you have to fight the last boss 3 times..which was near impossible. Someone enlighten me...
But this game is my best game EVER!!!...so fucking amazing. It has been almost more than 10 years since I played. I cannot even play it now since I dont have the joystick.
I played this game so many times. The enemy spawns are fixed. So it takes a lot of practice, I believe.
Paolo Ayonon How long back did you play this game?
The first time was back in 2000 when I was like 5 years old. I made it to up ACT 3 but could not beat it ever since.
I haven't played it for 15 years until now.
i had played it 11 years ago. Watching this video was really nostalgic! I had made it to the final boss stage but it was really hard. I never defeated the boss. After watching this video i came to know that there were 3 bosses to be fought with consecutively. Which was almost impossible. I love the music; never forgot them!
PLMOLP It is most likely TAS (Tool Assisted).
17:28
Clancy said he can't work with Foster anymore.
Later @ 25:38
He vaporizes Foster when he tries to follow him.
my favorite nes game :)
I noticed it. I just always thought it was a design choice given the strange look of some of the other stages.
Hardest game Ive ever been played on the NES, and it lures you in with a relatively easy (at least by Ninja Gaiden standard) 1st level and boss.
Play the Japanese version. Its way easier. I beat it the first time I played it.
Just played it yesterday on original NES. Music playing too fast i guess this was played on the emulator.
The only franchise I've played full in NES ..
OMG finally i found the game that i loved in my childhod..
This game has amezing paralax scrolling in the 1st part of level 2, wich even the snes and lynx versions both lack, wich is a SHAME.
I also like the drums and voices in this version, this game pushes the nes too it's max.
Yeah they did some amazing tricks on nes and it wasnt easy with how bad the system was.
35:23 8 lifes
Next scene 6 lifes...
Good eye...
+Alonso Moya Ha, BUSTED
+onebadlt123 +uptown710
Yeah, Busted (• + • )
+Alonso Moya Re-recording and save states. Moving on, nothing to see here.
+Alonso Moya hi
they need to remake all this old nes games into like they did with prince of persia would be awesome
Valis77, Are you human? XD
Awesome game! Epic Playthrough XD
NINJA
ENEMY
Foster´s Hollywood (a spanish franchise of american food restaurants)
My favorite in the series.Wish it had been as hard and frustrating as the first game tho xD
This was the hardest of the Ninja Gaiden games; the US modded the Japanese version to make it harder.
38:21
Clancy let allow Ryu bring A perfect human - Irene Lew?
I think some sites say that Ninja Gaiden 3 took place between Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, so it'd be a sort of interquel (if the rumor is true).
Проходил по нескольку раз на денди в свое время)
Do other people put long plays as background noise while working WHILE a part of your psyche is playing the game? Asking for a friend
Why in video the whole game play repeated twice ?
Wonder if Lordkatz would do a UWW of this game, I think it needs one after my experience with it.
@MrChosenone10 Yeah, well Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse took place a century before Castlevania 1.
That changed when Castlevania the Adventure released , the game takes place somewhere between 1550 and 1580 .
While Castlevania 3 Dracula's Curse takes place in 1476 and Castlevania 1 takes place in 1691 .
Useless nerd fact: NG3 chronologically takes place after 1 and before 2.
I wondered why Ryu still had his sword since it disappears at the end of 2.
and Ninja Gaiden(xbox or NGSigma for PS3) takes place before the 1
so the 3 games on NES are like the "last 3 episodes" of Ninja Gaiden?
So basically, part 2 was really part 3. Which makes sense because ASOD storyline seemed so anti-climatic compared to DSOC.
EdmacZ You serious?? Kwing considered this game to be confusing.
imho the first one was harder because the ankward control and inferior power ups, this one had the super slash, better movement and the power up had more variaty, is hard, no doubt of it, but the control of ryu make it easier to play
A little confused on what happens at 0:35:06... don't think the hitboxes of the spike would let you pass through like that.
Its because he is using the fire wheel power up. It makes u not take damage from anything for a short period of time. You just cant see it because his emulator isnt displaying it properly, but u can hear the sound effect when he activates it.
dam, they don't give a life recovery on the final boss fight
I just did a playthrough on this not too long ago. I finished it in almost the exact same way. Anyway, this is, without a shadow of a doubt, the second hardest of the NES Ninja Gaiden trilogy (NG1 being the hardest and NG2 the easiest). It still a fun game to play despite its difficulties and cheapness in certain areas. Now if I can only get through Act 7 without dying at all... can't keep the Invincible Fire Wheel in Act 7-1 to save my bacon.
I wish there was a way to put Ryu's modern day costume in this game.
Which Ninja Gaiden NES game is the best?
cyril marasigan I like 2 the best because that is the one I have played the most. I just recently picked them all up for my Famicom so I am playing through them all. 3 definitely seems easier than 1 and 2. But they are all pretty good.
+shaolinlueb I think the opposite. Ninja Gaiden 3 is the hardest. How do I know? Because I have the game.
+shaolinlueb 3 is the hardest actually. I no death 1 and will no death 2 but I will never be able to no death 3 no matter how hard I try.
+CrysisFear 1. The enemies take away more life. 2. Only 5 or 6 continues. 3. When killed, u start all the way back ex. 3-2 D to 3-2 A.
+CrysisFear And yes, I know that.
Nice playing.
So it's the same play through twice??
And the second playthrough doesn't have sound
