Scrap-n-Repair: Altec Lansing ATP3 Distorted Sound

- Found this speaker from the trash area.
The problem with the unit is that when the volume is set between mid to high, the subwoofer will produce a cracking or distorted sound.
Upon checking, I found burned pad from one of the output pin of the quad amplifier. The pad is already cut due to burned.
Fixed it by simply connecting both ends of the pads using a wire ( I used solder wick).
Unit finally worked after the repair.

meron po ba kayong video kung paano mag reconnect sa left speaker(brown connector)
rekomendasi upgrade spiker subwoofernya om, biar lebih horeg pakai merk apa ya ??

Check mo muna sir s connector baka may contact issue po.
Sir ganito din speaker ko. Buo pa tunog kaso ang problema bigla nawawala yung sound. Minsan gumagana, minsan hindi. Ang napapansin ko sa led indicator lumalabo yung ilaw then mawawala na yung tunog. Ano kaya problema? TIA!
Usually pag ganyan symptoms sir capacitor. Check mo kung may bulging na sa mga capacitor usually yan lang ang problema.
Ok sir. Saan ba nakalagay yung capacitor? Sa subwoofer or sa satellite?
@@ninonoeldeguzman3957 sa subwoofer check mo yung pinakamalaking capacitor location C10, check mo narin yung diode D3, D4, D6 & D7.
@@DBifix sir pwde sana kung makapag upload ka po ng schematic diagram ng bass at tone control ng altec lansing na yan kasi curious lang ako bakit ganyan ka ganda ang tonog at bass na tonog ng altec na yan, iba talaga eh ganda talaga ng tonog niya US kasi yang altec. para ma try ko din sana buohin at ilagay sa amplifier ko kung ganon din ba kalabasan sa tonog.

Do you have copy of the service manual ? meron kasi ako gusto ko nlang sana gawin portable, need ko malaman kung ilang ohms and speakers sub and satellite speakers

If you can access the board please check if you are having the same issue like mine or find any traces of burned components.
I have an altec lansing VS2621. The left satellite speaker is giving off a tearing (distorted) sound. Please advise.

Sir, I purchased a used altec lansing atp3 for 20 dollars. It sounds good, but if I increase Bass and volume, the bass is distorted. If I reduce Bass it sounds ok. How can I rectify the problem?
Your problem is similar to my unit, try to follow my fault isolation in the video.

This could be a switch problem also common issue for this speaker.
Sir may same speaer ako nyan may problema lang yung wire ng satellite speaker naputol na s kalumaan...magagwan p b paraan yun? Sagad s satellite ang putol ng wire.
Pwede sir, kalasin yung satellite speaker ska mo dun s loob idugtong yung wire. I-solder mo yung wire pra mas matibay.
Ganyan samin lods parehas model.. no power...ayaw din umilaw led pag on
Baka sa switch nya common problem or yung connector sa subwoofer kung saan kinakabit yung cablle.
I'm not able to attach photo here but look at the connector at the bottom of the rectangular hole there are two round hole try to shorting it by inserting a paper clip if it will turn on.
@@DBifix salamat lods... Nakita ko na po.. pag open ko ng sub mismo... May sunog na itim sa pinaka malaking capacitor ung 10000uf 25v..

Please check the power knob, it's a common failure for this model.
Sir yong sakin, naugong tapos mga 20 minutes lang nagagamit tapos kinaumagahan na ulit. Ganyan siya parati. Sayang naman ,d ko alam gagawin.
Try to disassembled and check if can find any burned or damaged components.

Pwede po sir, balatan mo lng cable para ma expose yung wire tapos dugtong. Gamitan mo sir ng soldering iron.

Ganyan gamit ko po sir na brand. Kaso minsan may toyo siya. Minsan mahina tunog tapos lalakas. Mahina tunog niya kapag nakakarinig ako ng parang puputok putok sa speaker na sobrang hina. Pag ganun naririnig ko mahina nanaman tunog niya. Pero pag di ko naririnig yun malakas yung tunog niya ayon sa knob ng volume. Ano kaya sira niya boss?
Pag naririnig rirnig ko yung putok putok na sobrang hina kahit naka 50% volume na ako parang 25% volume lang ang lakas niya. Di ko naririnig yung parang putok putok na mahina pag sagad ko sa zero yung volume knob niya. Iba kasi sa unit ko yung volume knob at yung switch on/off button
Ano po bang model sa inyo? usually pag ganyan yung amplifier nya sira.

@@DBifix the volume suddenly goes up n down, suspect the volume control issue
@@aimanhussin2307 you can try to spray contact cleaner or alcohol inside the volume knob to clean the dirt. Makse sure to unplug the power.

Hello po. Baka kaya nyo ayusin ganon na speaker ko. Biglang nag stop working. May power naman pero no sound na

Start sir dun sa switch button. Yung pinout ng DIN connector pin 7 yung on/off use multi-tester kong may continuity with respect to ground (pin 6) pag pinipindot mo yung switch (www.kk4ice.com/?p=570). Pag may changes sa value ok young switch mo at cable papunta sa subwoofer so and problema nun na sa mainboard, visual inspect for any damaged check mo yung power components C10, diode D3, D4, D6 & D7 etc.
