you have to let go

for the longest time my biggest enemy was not being able to let go of my past. i spent years trying to make up for what i felt like was wasted time or unachieved goals. i knew it was making me miserable but i didn't know how to let go. and on top of that, i didn't even know that the future was also weighing down on me.
it felt like i had nowhere to go. the past was on me, and the future was terrifying. thinking back on it now, it only makes sense that i wasn't winning against those demons. two infinities? against me? there was just no chance. but i was saved by figuring out a way to internalize 2 lessons from Dr. K's videos ( • Why You Feel So Helpless and • The Easiest Way To Sto... ) and a quote by Richmond Walker.
if i try to summarize those lessons:
1. the only way to move forward with your life is to face your past and acknowledge it. that's the only way you're going to be able to let go of it. instead of trying to run from the consequences of what your past brought you, face your past, and forgive yourself.
2. it's hard to face everything that you're running away from when they're a tangled mess of abstract thoughts. so, write them down and you'll be able to face them and let them go a lot easier.
the quote by Richmond Walker is an easy way to remember that if you want to live your best day today-- to not live with regrets and to live a life that you want-- you have to let go of the past and the future. and just focus on today.
i don't know if this video will help anyone, but i know it would've helped past me so i'm hoping that it can help someone else too.
