I'm going to attempt to wiggle the exhaust. Like you did to get the PAN out. After this is over. I'm never touching another North Star again.

Isn’t it easier to unbolt the bottom motor mounts and top torque mount . Place a jack under the engine . Loosen up the subframe bolts . Put another jack underneath the subframe and slowly drop the subframe . And jack the engine up until you are able to freely remove the oil pan . Sounds way easier .. I did the same process to remove the rack . Easy 2-3 hr job

would be nice but theres nowhere to jack up on the engine that isn't oil pan, also dropping the subframe is significantly the easy part, getting the pan out with the exhaust in the way is the hard bit, I've been stuck on that for a day or two now

No my brother you have to move the transmission for the crank case

You didn’t need to do all that just put the gasket around it but if you need to replace the pan then yes that is a good way

Any tips on getting the pan out past the exhaust? I've been trying and I've removed every single bolt on that pipe as well as the y pipe after it and it still wont move enough to get the pan out no matter what I do.

Only gm engineers 😂😂😂 how can I make it even more difficult to service 🤔 15mm bolts everywhere

You didn't do the half case did you? That's what normally leaks?

Actually the majority of leakage comes from the oil manifold that is fitted between the lower block and pan, not saying oil doesn't weep from the block half's, just not enough to worry about. The manifold is handling pressurized oil and is why it is subject to such leaking. You will still need to replace main crank bearing bolts because old bolts can't be reused, these must be removed to change out the oil manifold. Changing out the oil pan only will make little to no difference to the amount of oil leaking from this engine. Sorry to say this job needs to go to the next level, without doing so would be a waste of all the work already invested.
