What makes so many traitors compelling to me is that many of them are veterans of the old war. It gives them nuance that some loyalists can lack, as the emotions and memories from fighting the Horus Heresy and even the Great Crusade can color their personalities and world views so very much.
This is why Bjorn is my fav loyalist remaining (kinda lol). He gets awoken just to tell the stories of the Horus heresy and the great crusade. He holds it to such a high regard and with absolute respect all the wolves listen in complete silence. I wish the loyalists had more Horus heresy survivors. At least in the salamanders who have the gene seeds of a perpetual.

That Word Bearer tho. And Commissar Rickart. And we obviously can’t forget about Chaddeus.
Ullik is one of the best characters that you have come up with in the recent lore, I know a good handful of people who love him.
I always loved the concept of one of the most terrifying thing that can happen to non-chaos forces is when 2 or more chaos lords find common ground/kinship/friendship and work together as a team with trust.
The biggest flaw or weakness for chaos forces is that it's made up of warriors who inherently are distrustful and deceitful of one another. They are as likely to turn on each other as they are in actually fighting their enemies.
So when 2, or in this case 3, chaos lords actually trust each other and can work together, they can become almost unstoppable.
A strand of three cords is not easily broken.
It would be foolish to assume the lords of Chaos are less social animals than the rest of the species. Eventually they’re bound to run into a rival who makes them mumble “finally, someone who gets it” under their breath. Given all the backstabbing in their culture, those few genuine friendships would probably mean a great deal. See Garro and Tarvitz.
@@Kropothead Garro and Tarvitz where loyalists. At no point in the lore did either of them become chaos lords.
And chaos space marines can not be seen as equally sociable as imperial marines. Chaos space marines have given in to the corruption of chaos, and are all ambitious to varying to degrees, each wanting to become more powerful.
This is most evident amongst chaos lords. Each of them vies to be "top dog". So two or more chaos lords being on amicable terms and being able to actually trust one another is indeed a rare occurence.
These might well be your finest creations! Having three such interesting and competent warlords work as a team of friends was a brilliant stroke.
Along with your Thousands Sons Mage, Night Lords Psychopath and Word Bearers Mastermind, the 9 Legions are spoild for great characters in your writing!

That Lodge video was so enjoyable, seeing them come together like an evil fraternity. The idea that speaking freely and collaboration is a root to evil is such a 40K thing, understated and one of those earlier arcs that was so interesting. How Loyalist marines were locked out, and well intended marines were sucked in to treason.
Baldermort is S+ tier Warhammer 40K stories and lore. When I read a codex or any piece of Warhammer literature I read it in Baldermort’s voice and accent. If GW hired you as their default narrator I would have tears of joy.
Chaos got hit by some major tabletop nerfs today,but this. This makes it all so much better! Thanks Baldy!

The funny thing about the start of the heresy was the Death Guard we’re known for over supplying their troops which made the outer defences a tough cookie because not only were the Dusk Raiders, well armed they now had a bounty of ammo and heavy vehicles to use against their own lord
That drinking contest/staring contest is some of the most riveting moments that I have ever listened to on my journey into the grim darkness of the 40k universe.
During the Great Crusade there were many Heroes within the Space Marines Legions that risen during the unification of mankind across the Galaxy, and they craved out a legend among the Emperor armies, but those same Heroes turn into some of the most vile villain during the Horus Heresy and some even still live to this day to continue their spread their terror across the Galaxy.

Super late reply on this, but if you're currently making a "cinematic universe" in a sense with these stories; that would, without a doubt, be the single most impressive comprehensive work I have ever seen on YT. Maybe anywhere.

Obviously there are plenty of heroic highlight reels of (canon) WH40K characters on the Imperium's side but this is pretty much one, only for 'heroes' of Chaos - and it's a well deserved one. Wish these characters truly became canon because they are great!

Unkle Baldy, I love these little injections of yours to the lore, they flesh out some of the darker more abstract ideas that desperately needed it, BUT I hope you are not cheating and sneaking back in here when you are supposed to be recuperating? If I remember correctly:
The death Guard usually carry the following.
A bolter
A melee weapon (usually a chain sword or an axe)
A combat knife
And grenades.
Maybe use a scythe from that Praetor kit🤔
Brother boldermort you've done it again great job the only thing I have to add is when you said clips. Clips are what you load into the "magazine" with. All rounds come in an ammo box with little boxes that hold clips of two five round each which you then take out and press down firmly into the magazine. Clips however we're used in both WWI AND WWII the Mrk3 SMLE Lee Enfield wich held two clips of five (10 rounds) which are also magazine fed true but can be loaded vertically for faster reload same with the less effective Springfield 1903 ect this usually only common with iron sighted bolt action rifles sorry about the rant I mean this tiny correction with all due respect no judgment just information please don't take offense I do not mean that in any way thank u for reading and have a blessed day/night😅😅✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

Even after listening to it i feel the need to want more about the three. I want to see them fight side by side during the heresy and further on. Maybe even see them meet one another in the current time, seeing the changes brougth about by the gods.
Also nice to see The Unmaker {im not sure how to write his name} got a backstory. I do feel sad for him though. Would be interesting to see him fight fellow iron hands and maybe have some form of flashbacks or something akin to that. But that's just my thought.
As always i can't wait to see more of this.

I also had a bit of a fridge sadness moment. As heartwarming as this camaderie is, even though they're 'the bad guys,' There is only one reason I can think of that you've only told of one of them in the 42nd millennium. Especially now that that bloody Word Bearer is in the market for champions of Nurgle and Slaanesh. Why The Cudgel simply didn't pull out the top two cards in his Rolodex. (heh. Rolodexes. Goes to show I'm a bit of an old fogey myself)
