Dude... Best 2 remakes EVER:
The Thing. The Fly.
Planet of the apes
I was about 10 when I first saw The Fly. It was absolutely horrifying. I was so disturbed, but also couldn’t stop watching it. I’d never seen anything like it before.
The ending makes me cry so much. Effects amazing. Direction amazing. Davies amazing. Goldblum amazing. Goldblums body (pre-fly) PERFECT.
I love the makeup effects of THE FLY. It definitely has a updated look of the Metamorphosis novel. Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis were great together as they were in Earth Girls Are Easy.
I remember seeing The Fly when I was 5 with my dad on VHS. Still to this day one of my favorite films of all time.
Howard Shore's soundtrack does not get enough praise. Truly one of the best themes of any film. I do remember loving the romance side of the story as well as the body horror.
The film is very much like a play with only 3 characters really and a few sets. Which I loved, and miss films like this.
As I got older and seen love ones affected with Alzheimer's, cancer, and early onset dementia in my life The Fly now holds a deeper meaning for me.
It also in my opinion has one of the best monologues ever, with Seth explaining insect politics and how he wants to become the first insect politician.
After the thing, probably the best practical effects ever made
I was 7 years old when this movie came out. I remember first watching it from my grandmothers small claustrophobic traior near downtown columbus, ohio at 2:00 @m with 25 other family members all stuffed in that tin can glued to the t.v. screen. Afterwards, i remember being very inspired behind the idea of the movie and i remember i was trying to draw the telepods from the movie but incorporate my cartoon character i had made up back then going through it..still one of my top favorite movies of all time!!!
This movie is so Cronenberg!
didn't see the 50's version until well into the late 90s/early 2000's...in my mind, 86 Fly was/is the original lol. This movie haunted me. Jeff was scary! The body transformation was awesome. Classic through and through
The fly really is a masterpiece the ost alone is amazing
The ending is truly heart wrenching. It’s hard for me to rewatch this movie because of how tragic the ending is. Such a masterpiece.
I know exactly what you mean. I finally fell in love in sept 2022 and to think of her and I ending in such a way is absolutely terrifying. I showed her this movie and I'm sure it was just as hard for her to watch as it is for me
One of the best remakes ever. Creepy. Scary. Sad.
The Fly is David Cronenberg best movie the performances by Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis amazing and the practical effects fantastic and they still her up
Jeff Goldblum should've gotten an Oscar nomination for this film.
Agreed
Wow! 31 entries! Speaks to how awesome this series resonates with the community of fans. Definitely something to be proud of guys! "The Fly" is nothing short of an amazing experience. There are no weak points. Everything just works so well in the telling of the story. This is Cronenberg at the top of the mountain! Can't wait for next week's entry guys. Again, great series! Cheers!
I have never sat down and watched this whole movie. I have seen bits and pieces from time to time. I think I definitely should sit down and watch it all the way through.
I love this movie.
The Fly 2 was a great monster movie.
The fly is my favorite horror movies from the 80s. My sister watch it when she was younger she doesn't know it's a horror sci Fi film. But it's a sci Fi film mashup with a creature feature film. It's a masterpiece
What a blast, i love this movie. I watched this at a young age (9) when channel 4 (UK) showed it one night, i had no idea what the fuck it was or what it was about, all i knew is my mum was a big Cronenberg fan so i thought id give it a watch, I had nightmares for weeks afterwards and at the impressionable age i was act actually thought something like this could happen! Fast forward 31 years and i still love this movie, probably Cronenberg's best for me.
Thank You for the Video 😀
I Remembered They Mentioned The Fly On Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments Back In 2003 And Then I First Saw The Movie On Starz A Couple Of Years Later And Again On TUBI Back In 2019 And Once Again On HBOMAX In 2021. I Love David Cronenberg's Movies I Have Both Scanners And Videodrome On DVD And I Saw Both Rabid And Shivers On TUBI The Fly And The Brood On HBOMAX And To Be Fair I Also Watched Both A History Of Violence And Eastern Promises. Without A Doubt Cronenberg Is King.
Loving all of his horror work, when he branched out into Gangster territory. Greatest on all levels
Easily Cronenbergs greatest film it is neigh on perfect .
I do quite like the fly 2 as well. Its massively dumbed down from the Cronenberg classic but is a enjoyable ride all the same, with some great sfx and memorable scenes (that poor dog 😢)
The Fly is amazing the transformation of a man to a monster and Goldblum losing his humanity. Cronenberg is the King of Body Horror The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome Naked Lunch, Crash, Existenz
Excelent movie, i love it.
Saludos.
I've been going back and watching older movies and I watched the fly this past weekend and the entire time I couldn't stop asking why I would put myself through this 😂😅😂😅😂😅😂 great movie 🍿🎥🍿
Really need to rewatch this, this video was the final push I needed thanks man 👏
80.s Horror 🪰😈👍
Saw it as a kid, I was almost a teen (tween?) and was grossed out but had a lof of sympathy for the main characters and I did feel sad at the end for the fly when it holds the gun up to its head wanting a mercy ending to the horror. Reminds me of sympathetic monsters like King Kong, creature from the Black Lagoon, the Werewolf and Frankenstein's monster in that sense.
Despite the terror and the threat that they are you cant help but feel sorry for the creature.
🖤
It's one of those movies that does a great job at balancing gore and tragedy, you can be disgusted with Seth's mutation but then feel completely heartbroken for hm too.
Awesome movie that I've avoided seeing again
Thinking twice was plenty 😂
After this video I may just check ✅ it out again
This was probably my favorite retrospective on this channel so far
1986, the year i was born
Back when movies didn't hold back.
Own it on Blu Ray and at one time had the two disc DVD set a great horror film and Jeff goldblem and Gena Davies knock it out of the park and there also some parts that are gross it was sad at the end knowing that there was nothing she could do for him she really did love him
The one thing I will say the original had over the remake is showing what happened to the actual fly who had the head of a man lol. That was pretty haunting.
When he comes out of the machine in his hot nearly naked glory, that was Goldblum at his best .
These videos are tailor made for me. Love them, thanks again
Chris Walas is the best. He so deserved the Oscar for his incredible makeup effects. The less said about The Fly 2 the better. So how do you pronounce his last name ? I'll go with how people who know him: Way- less.
The Fly 2 is an underrated and very worthy sequel.
It is weak; simple horror movie; cat scares
@@jesseespinosa9440 "That's just like, your opinion, man." - The Big Lebowski
Underrated
Please cover The Fly 2… in any context
Jeff did not need any make up he already looks like a fly lol
The sequel isnt as bad as people say it is
This is the only movie where the special effects are so good, so gross, that I can not watch this more than once. Actually, i feel the same way about "Terrifier" 1 & 2. These types of movies are what I call "one and done's". . . . Watch them once and never again.
This why you never cut that gnarly hair you've got somewhere....... it's all bad after that
Funny enough, some geneticists have stated that if this particular incident were to happen in real life. The likely outcome would actually be the person likely developing chitinous deposits on their skin and apparently becoming immune to several different types of diseases............that's it.........kind of a pretty mundane outcome given what happens in this movie.
Don't ever underestimate the havoc a lowly creature could wreak even to man's most advanced technology...Goldbloom was perfectly cast as the flyman...he resembles one..no offence
When did this "Body horror" term become a trend?
