  • I am doing different videos lately because I went on a trip out west of New South Wales in Australia and generally just go and walk around these old towns. I hope you like a taste of what the country looks like in Australia.

Yes left Canowindra 46 years ago, feels like another life time.
Many memories going down the Main Street. đŸ„°

It was one of my favourite places. I lived in Cargo and travelled there for school

@kathleendobson3648 My late mother was born in Canowindra. Her uncle and aunt had a farm near Cowra.

Thanks. I had googled Canowindra and Cargo recently and couldn’t find anything about them, so thought it would be nice to have this available.

I don't travel much now so I enjoy watching where other people live and work or vacation!

Always be home, my family used own the junction hotel back in the 70s. My uncle Garry used to work at the bakery. So much history ❀

Reminded me of Cootamundra where my husband grew up. I looked it up on the map and I guess it’s not really that far from there.

I always find in emotionally conflicting going back to old haunts.. not in a soppy way or a sad negative way or a regretful way..more a flood of memories comeback at such a speed no time to process properly .. it was a then time not a now time
oh my that was deep
definitely a country town , and it look like it’s still doing ok..

Yes the shop lady said it is growing. I did like it, but it is also sad that I can’t be part of it, and it was just a visit. I did consider whether I would buy a place there
.but it is France for me lol

Yes it is shame about the up keep
. someone that day told me that some of the street awnings have been taken down due to decay
which is a shame

@@Myminimalistlife_x You have to remember that:
      1) we have had two floods in Gaskill Street in two years which severely affected both business and property owners;
      2) the costs associated with the restoration of buildings using heritage materials is enormous - and the availability of contractors who can do what is specialist work is an issue. Businesses and building owners have to make commercial decisions
      3) at the museum it took us a year to source the right timber to restore one of our display buildings. Sourcing materials is a real issue.
      4) the shop fronts in Gaskill Street are largely intact with many original shopfitter features
      5) there are not many "holes" in the retail area

Beautiful! I can’t wait till it’s sunny here. So gloomy here. But it’s spring eventually the warm weather will come. Has things changed a lot since the last time you were there 44 years ago? Thanks for the video!

It is amazing that it look the same. I did plan on checking out the playground where we used to wait for my dad outside the pub, but it was different (as the old equipment would have not met WHS standards lol). The car park in my old school is new as it used to be a playground and the bubblers are gone.

    Ok
looks hot.. or is it just sooo sunny there?! Very quiet and peaceful. Has it changed from when you were last there? Thank you Shireen.

Yes, it was 35 degrees but luckily I didn’t get burned (no sunscreen on), but the heat is dry so nicer than Brisbane (humid). Mostly the town is the same with same style of shops and all. Schools, houses look so same
the pool was exactly the same. I love the old style. Would love a house there.
