I was in high school when this song came out. Loved it. It was my lover, Leo's, favorite song and mine in our youth. We were innocents, just smooching for a couple of years. No hanky panky, just loving our youth and the music. This has to be one of our favorites.

I have 2pomeranians and whwn I play this song my one jumps onto the recliners back and on her hind legs stands up and paws with her front legs until I pick her up and dance around the rooms with her in my arms singing loudly while her sister barks because she wants her turn! Shes jealous and has learned that is how to get mommy’s attention! Their sisters and compete for mine and their daddies attention whenever they can get it! With mom it’s dancing and singing around the house and daddy it’s belly rubs and going in the backyard where mom with bad legs can’t manage anymore! If I don’t dance with them they sit and whine and just stare at me with their big dark shining eyes with their heads down between their paws giving me such sad depressed looks so I have to reset the song and go pick up Zoey first and dance while she smiles her happy huge POm smile while Mazie Mae jumps and bounces off my calf’s until I pick her up and dance with her! And if Either girl doesn’t get enough time dancing I know it and they will follow me and jump on my lap and basically be pain in the asses until I am tired and sore and they are happy and ready for a nap!! I go through those at least once a week since my husband likes to play the song to see his furry girls happy and see his wife get tired! Lol
Besides the focus on Ron Dante (thank you for 50 years of beautiful music), did you all notice the blonde-haired backup singer besides him? It doesn't matter if her voice can be heard or if she sings well or croaks. 🤣😂Her smile simply lit up the entire room. Having reviewed all the CZcams videos on this song, this beautiful eye candy is so far the best representation of Sugar Sugar, Candy girl. 😍
Jesus, the guy looks like he’s in his late 30’s, early 40’s! Lol! Incredible. Proving that music makes you young again and continue’s to inspire new fans even years later with a resurgence. If it’s good music, it’s timeless. Reminds me of all the new young fans who have been getting into the big hair and glam bands of the 70’s and 80’s. Heck, even heavy metal has enjoyed a new following. Nothing but admiration and respect. Dante could also have easily retired what with the success he’s enjoyed as both a writer and producer of some pretty iconic names in music. Simply doing it for the love of his fans.
