No vocal manipulation, no pyrotechnics, no ridiculous dancing girls( or guys) Just pure, raw talent! And a straight ahead delivery! Saw Linda in the 70's many times, and was never disappointed. What a talent.
I saw her perform twice and she never leaves that chill zone. She just opens her mouth and that sound fills the room.
Unless you were already a fan you have no idea how talented this woman was. She could and did sing everything from country to pop to big band to opera to Mexican. Made albums for all. Watch the movie made for her. Just recently came out. I grew up listening to her and she was never out of tune and as you noticed it was near effortless. Even her peers say there will never be another like her. The purest voice I have ever heard.
I too grew up listening to Linda!! What a voice!!!! That was a good era of music!!
Another great voice. One gem she sings is Dreams To Dream. From the Soundtrack Feevil Goes West I think.
Sherri Thorne yes!
Inspector Vol that CNN film The Sound of my Voice was magnificent. She was always part of the soundtrack of my childhood, but I didn't realize just how much until I watched that film. ❤️
Agreed. Her voice is literally addicting to listen to.
She could sing anything, any type of music, no comparison. It’s a shame that illness has silenced her music.
She’s dying of the sane me ailment that killed my sister-in-law: Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy”.
A dirty shame.
If you guys have a chance listen to her music in Spanish. Canciones de Mi Padre. Wtf talk about hitting those flipping notes.!!!!!! AMAZING
The song was written by the Late, Great Roy Orbison...rest well, big O.
Today it seems musicians appreciate Roy Orbison more than the public.
Oh yeah Roy orbison and pretty woman, Roy is a great singer, songwriter and musician. Play some Roy Orbison too
Her version of “Desperado” is extraordinary!
DON HALL sooo very beautiful. She did a fantastic job with that cover!! RM needs to see/hear this one.
Agree, Don Henley said her version was the best version
Doncha draw the Queen of Diamonds, boy, she'll beat you if she's able.
My favorite of all her songs. Just gorgeous. She knew when to add volumn and when to keep it softly gentle
The Eagles couldn't make it a hit and she did. There is a great version on CZcams with the Eagles playing and singing backup. Great great recording!!
Linda is one of the nicest most supportive people in the music industry! She helped Don Henley and Glenn Frye form the EAGLES. Just a sweetheart of a person!
Linda Ronstadt and Karen Carpenter...arguably two of the best voices in popular music, and not just in the 1970s.
i agree 100 percent
Too right!
And Olivia!!
Yes, Linda by far the best, then Karen, then nobody. Not another in their class.
can't forget Stevie Nicks either, many good ones, Linda is classic!
Does not matter what she sang it always made me smile. Such a beautiful pure voice!
You can't go wrong with nearly any Linda Ronstadt song. She did a lot of covers in her musical career and teamed up with the likes of Aaron Neville, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and others. She has covered many genres including opera, swing, country, pop, classical, ballads (oh the ballads!) and more. Truly a musical legend.
To me she is the best female vocalist of all time. I was soo in love with her back in the 70s. Beautiful voice, beautiful woman. Too bad she lost the ability to sing due to parkinsons.
I just watched a recent documentary on You Tube or Netflix and she sings a song in Spanish at the end with two family members. She can still sing, it’s just not as powerful, nor can she hold long notes. But, she still sounded great.
I thought she couldn’t sing; so happy to say that is not true.
Me too Fell in Love with her at 12 I Bought every single Album that she made that I could find. I was 15 or 16 when I watched Linda sing The National Anthem at Dodger's Stadium with my Dad on Television The Dodger's were in the World Series . She sang it Flawlessly! 1977 I Believe
I can't Bare to think of Linda Ronstadt ever passing away She helped me (Her Music) through some very rough years at home. I do know I will cry all day the day she does I really will.
She was just honored at the Kennedy Center Honors last month - well deserved. "You're No Good" - excellent song as well as many others.
Linda & Karen Carpenter - two pitch perfect singers - Literally. The reason they're so often compared.
Agree but I would also add Patsy Cline to that list.
@@hectorsmommy1717 yes, i would include patsy cline, although i don't see any comparison between linda and karen, they were 2 different types of singings... linda was a belter, karen was a "crooner".... personally i think karen had more in common with patsy cline, because both were THEE epitome of the singer who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU and who with their phrasing and telling the story of the song every song, they literally touched your soul in the purity, richness, moving, touching and melancholy (especially karen's voice) beauty...
i enjoy all 3 singers, but with linda, for me, she's best in small doses.. whereas i could listen to karen carpenter and patsy cline all day, every day.. karen is the greatest female voice of love and romance songs ever, while patsy is the greatest female country voice...
I much prefer the power and range of Linda's voice. Have you ever hear her sing light operetta, if not listen to her sing Poor Wandering One from The Pirates of Penzance...it really shows off her range!!
Nicole Anastasi Yes,my two favorite vocalist! They both had three octave contralto voices with range, power, control, tone and so much feeling. Either one can give me the chills.
So damn true
I grew up listening to Linda Ronstadt so i more than appreciate her music....she's one of my classic favorites
She hung out with members of the Eagles (and they sang backup or played in her band at one time or another), Don Henley, Glen Frey, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, plus Jackson Browne and other notable musicians in the early 70’s. What a cool group of people....in some ways, there may never had been the Eagles without her.
I didn't realize that. I thought her only band was Stone Poneys. Fun to picture them all hanging out together, playing music and singing.
"Hung Out" That's a nice way to say it. I like it.
Yeah, I discounted what she did.....I didn’t mean to belittle her importance as she basically brought them all together. I just meant they hung out socially as well and what a cool group of people to be hanging out....
They were part of her back up band. Half of them, I mean. When they told her they wanted their own band, she suggested and introduced them the rest of the band.
I saw her in concert in the mid 70's, in a venue with bad acoustics and she sounded perfect, better than any studio could produce. She was phenomenal!
You are so right on - she really does just let the music flow deeply out of her, not trying to push it . What a lovely, peaceful song - and these days, we need a lot more feeling peaceful!
Yep! Linda Rondstadt can SINGGGGGG!!! Just beautiful! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️
One of the best female vocalist of our time. Effortless!
One song YOU'VE JUST GOT to react to...Linda Ronstadt: "Long, long time"
Savatage1964 it's my favorite of hers.
Beat me to it. My favorite that she does.
Am gonna play now .long long time.
Long long time is my favorite of hers.
Along with "Hurt so Bad" and others.. I love her Big Band & Standards..
Great singer & Easy on the Eyes.. ♠ W.G.
This is the only version of this song that my mother liked. I would be on my room (a converted living room) and I would be playing this record. My mom would come in and sit in one of the rocking chairs. Then, a few minutes later my father would come into my room with a cup of tea for mom and sit in the other rocking chair. They would sit quietly, sometimes talk, sometimes not talk. That's when I would leave the room to watch TV. My parents were enjoying themselves as husband and wife, not as parents but husband and wife. And they did this while listening to this music.
One of my fondest, sweetest memories of my parents. 🌻💙
Linda is just amazing. Her range is unbelievable, it's something like seven octaves with perfect pitch!
Linda has one of the best female voices in musical history. She could sing the phone book and make it sound incredible, right there along with Heart and Stevie Nicks, with or without Fleetwood Max. Glad you’re enjoying the music of my life. God Bless 🙏
Hello, I've just found your site. I love how you respect the artists & you don't keep interrupting to show off & take the vibe away! I'm a Christian & I love how you're connecting with people like this. Be safe, happy, with love from here in Great Britain. God bless. xx
A fantastic singer and interpreter of songwriters. She knew her music and worked with the best musicians. She was all over the radio back in the 70s.
I think this came out in around 1977. I was 21 and every guy .had the biggest crush on this stunningly Beautiful woman. This video didn't allow you to see her up close, but trust me, she is drop dead gorgeous. What a beautiful voice God Blessed her with.
I was also 21, in college, and started wearing men's vests as tops because of her.
I got hooked by "Different Drum". That voice. That face.
Then-California governor Jerry Brown was the envy of every man for being Linda's boyfriend.
Yeah, when I heard about that it was definitely a turn-off. It turns out she is just as loony as he is. Too bad.
@@757optim Music trivia - "Different Drum" was written in 1965 by Michael Nesmith, a year before The Monkees came into being.
She sang “Somewhere out There” with James Ingram. (R.i.P) Also, “ I don’t know much” with Aaron Neville...Amazing talent.
I love Linda Ronstadt 💚 She is a true legend, and has many smash hits 👍 Love her voice 💚 tug that hair Ty 😁
Sold a LOT of albums. Hit after hit. I agree, listen to "Desperado". A clear, mastered vocal. She put a lot of work into her vocals, never took it for granted. I got to see her twice and she was so incredible. I love learning new stuff, glad you do as well. Thanks for the blessings you extend MRM !
That woman was PHENOMENAL. Truly gifted, MRMan.
Parkinson's Disease is horrible. Her voice was golden. That disease robbed her of it.
She actually doesn’t have PD. She has a related neurological disease called “Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy”. It’s much more rare. My husband’s sister died from PNP.
Here’s more information:

And she is NOT lip syncing here. One of the most amazing voices of all time. Has sold over one hundred million records. She can sing anything.
Linda Rondstadt my vocal idol ever since I was a young girl. She could sing a good ballad like no other, make you listen and like it too. There will never be another like her.
My favorite song of hers. She hits THAT note and it always makes me verklempt. Beautiful!
She was such an incredible, effortless singer .. beautiful
A natural talent and superstar for her era.
So glad next gens enjoy the music of my youth. Rock 'n Roll's versatility can bring us together 🤗🎵🎧🎸😍
Linda Ronstadt is amazing. She is my sisters favorite vocalist. She has every single album of hers. Thats how Linda Ronstadt came into my world. Whether I liked her or not I would have to listen to Linda Ronstadt, fortunately I loved her. She can cover any song and it immediately becomes hers. Her range and versatility is brilliant.
she sang with Aaron Neville on a few songs.."I dont know much" is a great song they did..Aaron is great as well.....she helped the Eagles get their start also
Oh yeah thats right
Candice Donaldson oh yessss so divine, those two together will
melt you into a little puddle. Adore them both, but together, oh wow man.
@@oldspiritart647 ive always loved both since way back in the 70s..actually the man ive loved the last dozen years looks a lot like Aaron ..Linda's song Blue Bayou is also one of my favorite all time songs
@@Modern-Renaissance-Man Aaron and his brothers did beautiful gospel songs as well....he has a unique sound no matter what he sings
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded is Linda and Aaron's version of "Please Remember Me" (czcams.com/video/4H-wZQv-qUo/video.html). Both had excellent voices, but as a duet, they were magic!
Great choice! My favorite Linda Ronstadt song is A Long, Long Time. It kinda gets into her opera talent. I only wish Elvis and Linda would have done a duet.
She is EXELLENT singer your voice is perfect for all misic...country , opera , big band, rock mexican music, latino music, etc....SUPRR STAR forever and ever ...Love Linda !!!!..
Parkinson's Disease has stolen her voice, but thank God she will always be immortalized through videos, recordings, and our personal memories!!
She actually does NOT have PD. She has a related, much rarer neurological disease called “Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy”. (It killed my sister-in-law).
Here’s more information about Ronstadt and her diagnosis.

I remember hearing her on the radio back in the 70's. Some of her more popular songs are still on my playlists including this one. Great voice, very memorable.
Of course, I enjoyed! Great memory of seeing and hearing her when I was young (younger than 21.)The Sound of My Voice is a wonderful film about the talent and life of Linda R. (her family, her father's support, etc.)
Gorgeous song. Gorgeous voice.
Gorgeous woman.
Awesome singer. She's the best.
Linda singing 'Heart Like A Wheel' still gives me chills.
Love, love, love this song!! Linda is one of the greatest singer of all time. She could sing all different styles of music. Thx&see ya😁
The lovely Linda that was a live performance absolutely flawless. Nobody can touch her 4 decades of incredible music in a multitude of genres.
What a cool blessing I had to see her in concert. I'd love to see her now in a speaking concert. My sincere prayers for her and her illness.
This is a SINGER! Not manufactured. Not in a studio full of knobs and buttons. Just a lovely, lovely voice. She was a gift to and from America.
How do we love Linda.? Let us count the ways. Grabs the microphone and sings her heart out. Live, unadorned, honest. Sang loops around her contemporaries and championed the bands and songwriters.
Best female vocalist ever. She could sing anything. Effortless.
She was the epitome of beautiful, soulful singers. Natural talent, I grew up loving her music.
Linda Ronstadt is one of my all time favourites. I play her music in my car when I drive North to visit relatives. So many great songs and sung with such purity. My favourite is Winter Light - a gentle, mesmerising song that calms the spirit.
One of my favorite singers!
best female singer of all time
Excellent comments on this great song..no bells and whistles..just Linda’s awesome voice!! 🙂
It's such a beautiful, melancholy song that takes me back to the sweet 70s. Thank you for doing this reaction, love it!
Oh, I haven’t heard this song in so long! It’s beautiful. Thanks so much, both of you!
Gorgeous stuff. In a league of her own. Deep musical chops. Much more than her hits but those are great too.
Good for you for seeing it... She had a great voice and a soulful delivery... God-given talent...
God bless.
Little girl gigantic voice
Been a fan forever
Ann Wilson (Heart) and Linda Ronstadt are my two favourite female vocalists. So hard to choose who is best.
*~((( Classic Linda Ronstadt songs: "LONG LONG TIME"; "LOVE IS A ROSE"; "LOSE AGAIN"; "ADIOS"; "LOVE HAS NO PRIDE"; "YOU'RE NO GOOD"; "DESPERADO";
"THE TRACKS OF MY TEARS"; "OOH BABY BABY"; "IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE"; "HIGH SIERRA"; "A RIVER FOR HIM"; "MANY RIVERS TO CROSS"; "WHEN WILL I BE LOVED", "IT'S SO EASY", etc., etc., etc...the Mexican songs she recorded...the 2 albums she made with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris...So much else...One of the most successful singers of the 1970's.
Linda is still in my personal Top 10 of favorite female singers. The new Ronstadt documentary, "THE SOUND OF MY VOICE", is quite thorough and well worth watching! )))~*
Two of my favorites are Poor, Poor Pitiful Me and Spanish Moon. And yes, she could belt out some tunes and had phenomenal control over her voice. Glad you loved it!
You just listened to the very best of the best. That is saying a lot but she can sing ANY genre. So much power and tenderness in her voice with such a little body. I grew up listening to her when we used to travel across the US by car all the time.
She was great! Plus, there would be no Eagles without Linda Ronstadt- a truly talented and generous person!
My mom would always play Linda's records when we were little. She had such a distinct & great voice❤
Linda is one of my favorite artists!
Saw her Induction into the Rock Hall of Fame
About 20 years too late.
Linda Ronstadt's Greatest Hits Volumes 1 and 2 has a zillion hits and is one of my favorite albums/CDs!!
One of the most extraordinary voices in music.
Linda Ronstadt. "You're No Good" (Good song)
Linda is one of the most accomplished musicians in history. She was wildly popular for decades.
I have a special place in my heart for Linda Ronstadt. She's my mother's favorite singer so I grew up listening to her music. Her voice isn't only beautiful but it's also brings me back to when I was a little girl. ❤️ If you get the chance listen to her Spanish music as well. Breaks my heart that she can't sing anymore. 💔
That voice was unmatched in my opinion. She could sing anything!
that voice just captures everyone in the audience with ease.
My aunt in New Hampshire loved her. Every time I hear her awesome voice it reminds me of my aunt. Good memories!
Ty! So glad you’ve been introduced to the amazing Linda Ronstadt! She has many many beautiful recordings, and many on CZcams, many clips of live performances at her concerts that are truly outstanding. One, however, that you may not otherwise come across and which is so beautiful and sweet is her live duet with Hoyt Axton of his song, “The Lion in Winter”. It is SO good! I would love to see you react to it! You will love it! Really enjoy your reaction videos! Thanks!
I was lucky enough to see her live back in 1983. She sang this song and it was amazing.
I love Linda Her voice is unique and recognizable. For vocalists under the age of 20, very few female vocalists have unique recognizable voices. Diana Akuninova is another.
Now I’m going to treat all you Linda Ronstadt fans around the world to a vocalist who passed away recently but in my generation ( 1960s ... I’m 74 years old) had a small but worldwide cult following. Her name
Morgana King with a celestial heavenly ethereal voice, unique and mesmerizing. Just like Linda in terms of uniqueness. When a song by her came over the radio, ( today Spotify , CZcams , etc) within the first 30 seconds you KNEW it was Morgana King and you stopped whatever you were doing to listen. Frank Sinatra called her the best female vocalist he ever heard.
If I may so bold as to suggest you listen ( when you have a few moments) to the following 4 songs that will silence your mind and open the floodgate of your heart. 2 were created and posted by a “ Morgana fan” with remarkable imagery which enhanced the emotional impact!!
And hope you add them to your playlist so that others may enjoy.
Please CZcams
“ Morgana King Happy Birthday 2017” ( 4:26 in duration). The song is called “ desert hush/I am a leaf” please be sure to click the 4:26 one ( the one with a photo of her with lyrics) and NOT the 4:25 or any of the others.
“ Morgana King Prelude to a kiss” ( 3:49 duration)
“Morgana King
Lazy Afternoon”
) 3:48 duration with hauntingly beautiful imagery that enhances the already emotionally impactful Morgana rendition.
Perfect for our times of isolation but enraptured by the natural world.
And finally one more that is to this day her signature song about a lover that promised to return but never did.
“ Morgana King sings a taste of honey” ( 5:17 duration).
So pleased that the younger generation who I send these songs to are amazed and profusely thank me for turning them on to Morgana. Please take a few moments out of your day to listen to the unique angelic sound of Morgana. Her emotionally impactful voice will transport you to another world. I promise.
R.I.P. Morgana King.
Such a powerful voice!!! She can really nail a song🤗
Had a feeling there would be a few hair pulls on that one. Lol the abilty to go from almost a whisper to powerful projection was always an enjoyable part of her performances. You are correct if we were all exactly the same this world would be soooooo boring we couldn't stand it. Our subtle differences is what makes life beautiful. Although some differences can get frustrating as well, that's what keeps it interesting. Lol
New documentary about her “The Sound of My Voice”. Linda said she always thought her voice wasn’t loud enough! I disagree. She’s a powerful singer.
Linda Ronstadt is probably the greatest female singer of the latter 20th century -- she's that good. She has, many times in my opinion, covered some songs better than the original artist. That takes a unique talent. If you liked Blue Bayou then please listen to Tracks Of My Tears. Hers is the best rendition, even over the original.
Her rendition of Many Rivers To Cross from the PRISONER IN DISGUISE album is fantastic. She really belts it out!
You should listen to her rendition of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' "Ooh Baby Baby." I think you'll enjoy it
Cdemp...That one is awesome! That's probably my favorite from her.
Absolutely- that’s a favorite
People forget how beautiful Linda was and what an amazing singer and voice she had. They also forget that without her, there would not have been the Eagles
Loved to hear her and Aaron Neville sing together. Voices blending beautiful.
In my humble opinion 3 of her best albums are the ones she did with Nelson Riddle singing songs from the American songbook.
I can only listen to so much of that before I want to kill myself. She is fabulous and I love the music but the song lyrics just suck eggs. I know, another time, depression era music fit it. When you with upon a Star and Skylark are the exceptions. Maybe I like them so much because the rest of the songs and so gloomy and gritty. Stuff like Lush Life, etc., no thanks.
@Rusty Agree 100%, best album Cry Like A Rainstorm, Heart Like A Wheel is also top, and I have a personal affection for all three big band (my genre) w/ Nelson Riddle Orch.
I personally own every release from Stone Ponies into solo then three with Nelson Riddle, Mariachi band, the Dolly, Emma trifecta, dynamic duo Aaron Neville, retun to solo while performing on Broadway, final curtain call with Parkinson's 2013.
The past few years she's been back on tour, however she is speaking about her book, new documentary, life after singing, and so much more.
I'm 50 yrs old, came out the womb singing, and am a lifelong recorded vocalist and front woman for several bands and various live gigs since childhood. Linda is, has always been, and forever will be my uncontested #1 favorite female vocalist in all the world. I also place her #1 for greatest all-time female artist, certainly in the top tier of the greats.
I've always held near and dear to me Someone to lay down beside me, I can't help it if I'm still in love with you, it doesn't matter anymore, hurts so bad, how do i make you, I've got a crush on you, loverman, lush life, you took advantage of me, bewitched..., and Trouble Again is a g'teed smile, Cry Like A Rainstorm empowers me, and ADIOS, damn I am paralyzed and suspended in motion when Adios is playing. I am pretty useless for the entire LP. Same with Heart Like A Wind LP. I honestly like every record she has. What is truly mind blowing about Linda is her authentic humility. She never felt she was all that! Indeed she knew she was really good, but she was forever working at improving and known to be a total professional, never a diva, messed up on drugs or alcohol, kept control of herself, her ego, and just someone very very special. Tucson's Rose.
Divine pipes. Clear. Unadorned. Surrounded by devoted players. The Queen of her Scene. Linda...sigh.
I don't think she always even needed a microphone ! She could project that voice, so pure.
This song was always part of my teenage years. Always on country radio.
Can you see the difference in sheer quality between country music then, and what they call country today?
There's no comparison whatsoever.
Although, for the record, this is more of an easy listening pop song. But with the steel guitar and "living in the country by the seaside" theme, country music audiences embraced it.
There are an absolute abundance of this level of song from that era of country.
I got the Orchid Poster of her on my bedroom wall, been in love with Linda for so long.
"Oooh Baby Baby" is my favorite from her. Originally done by Smokey Robinson.
Will never be another Linda Ronstadt. A musical genius.
Love that Linda Ronstadt - been listening to her since I was a kid and that was a very very long time ago.
Linda was a perfectionist in every thing she did and she did everything!!
I'm so glad got her Kennedy Center Honors award last year. She definitely part of the sound track of my life. It's sad that Parkinson's has robbed her of her voice. She literally could and did sing everything from Pop, to country, to opera and her native music from Mexico. A true talent.
Dolly Pardon said that herself and other singers were just pretenders at singing compared to Linda.
Dolly is being overly modest, but Linda Ronstadt does have an excellent voice.
Dolly would know -- she, Linda, and Emmylou Harris formed "Trio" and performed some wonderful songs together. I think they've released two or three albums over the decades. I'm a big fan of Trio II's "Feels Like Home (to Me)" is incredible, and I am pretty sure Linda Rondstadt is lead vocals on their track.
Loved Linda, but IMO the best contralto voices I've heard in my lifetime was Karen Carpenter, followed by Judith Durham (of The Seekers) and finally Linda Ronstadt. And I think all three never realized their profound effect on the listener.
@@oregonchick76 The Sweetest Gift is My fave with those 3!
@@biggeorgetx I still know all the words to Another You. I can hear her singing it as I type. There is always someone for each of us they say....
She is amazing. And because of her we also have the Eagles.
Such a beautiful voice...
