      technically by warehouse standards, if it is wet paper product or food product then it will go to a land fill. 3/4 of that stuff will be in a land fill. that doesn't include the freezer and fridge parts of the warehouse which is all headed to the trash. Its a crazy loss. Its big enough that its roughly 12,000 semi loads of product. Now imagine reordering all that product in a market with shortage issues. realize it would take at least 50 giant shipping freighters to refill it. This is going to affect our bottom line everywhere as dollar tree has to compete in the market to regain supplies lost. especially paper products

      That's not EF-5 damage to a warehouse. Check out the Wrangler warehouse that was hit by the Hackleburg, AL EF 5 on April 27, 2011. Now THAT'S what an EF 5 does to a warehouse.

    • @tomzy44
      @tomzy44 Před 15 dny

      So how big was it, i now f5 can demolish building like paper, just think of the deadman tornadoe, now that what you call being stripped, for a truck to be tossed it would have wind speed over 200mph.

    Sorry, the joke was there, I couldn't pass it up. Genuinely sending good vibes to everyone affected by all these storms. Truly devastating. I honestly don't even know where you start with that warehouse. Surely almost all the product is worthless. And how do you even get to so much of it that's stuck under the rafters that have collapsed?

      Likely weren't allowed to leave the warehouse. they have a smallish tech-media room built with cinderblocks and that's their safe room during a tornado. But geez what they had to do once they were allowed to leave. Had to have been scary. And if the tornado was tossing trailers image where they found their cars. I work there but on a different shift so I wasn't there that day.

I know a man who works there and it would be devastating for him and hundreds of others if DT just collects the insurance and rebuilds somewhere else or just doesn’t rebuild at all. It's not possible to rebuild in place with that amount of damage. That gets into land owner politics trying to find a nearby site, most likely failing due to gouging. So no, consider it abandoned and the jobs lost.
