It is not a fair fight to begin with when your opponent has a weapon and you do not, yet Goku won, he could have been given the extending power pole of kid Goku for this fight, although it would not be cannon. Also, logically speaking, any of Goku's blasts could have reduced his opponent's weapon to a cinder but here he is continuing to wield it and use it against Goku which is counter-intuitive.
