These big numbers really take your breath away. Lena was so professional, she learnt that routine in a short space of time, Elaine and Wayne had done it on stage a few times by then.
Great to see my dad playing the trombone again after all these years. Miss him like crazy but clips like these bring back all the good memories. Thanks for posting
I had never heard of Lena, and indeed, thought I would be seeing Lena Horne. I watched, though, then looked her up in Wiki, and read about her. Man, talk about melodrama. What a tragic life, dying ay 38 yo weighing 60 lbs! Had a labotomy (?) for depression and died a few weeks later of pneumonia due to anorexia. Mom died of overdose, was on the dole for a while. Tragic, totally tragic.
when was this recorded? I'd guess some time in the 1970s looking at Wayne. I don't think I ever saw this programme (though I'd guess it was BBC.) Thanks for sharing it. Wayne was a fabulous dancer.
@ZITuk1 Why did you have your comment removed ? Did you say something risque ? The last time I bumped into George was in the Rayners pub in Harrrow, sunday afternoon Jazz session, sadly he wasn't playing that day. Must have been 25 years ago. I believe he had gone to live in australia. wayne Sleep... now there's a young man who was very fleet of foot.... If you get my drift....
Other than Wayne S.'s solo (and, to some degree, including it), that's some pretty damned uninspiring choreography. He was a fab dancer, though. Fun seeing the whole thing though. Seems like it would probably have been done around the early run of the original production of CHICAGO.

She was so tiny. And yet she had such a big voice. Haven't seen this in years. Thank you very much. x
Lena holding her own and more with such great talents.
This is brilliant isn't it? Love these show numbers!
Ms Stritch is great!

Is it weird that Elaine Stritch reminds me of sister mary lazarus from sister act?
Was Elaine Stritch in a production of Chicago?
Having looked up her biography, I don't belive she ever was. However, she certainly is a seasoned trouper, and a great entertainer, too.

No, he never lived in Australia. After leaving Southgate in London, he moved to Bedfordshire.

Sorry Elaine...pass
why do men dancers have to be small?
could a tall man dance as well as wayne sleep does?
@@buddyboy80 Worked in show biz for over 55 years, most male dancers were 6 ft and above. You must be watching the Munchkin Review.
