In this game of the GeForce Starcraft II Pro/Am event, we see a ZvT match between Destiny and Bomber.
Just reaching back in time a bit to see my favorite revived Starcraft Caster, with my favorite games educator, commenting on a game by my new love Destiny!
Is it the same destiny that loves black people?
I was not a destiny fan before this game and I'm not one now but I have to applaud him for this game. Some brilliant decision making there and crazy creative play. I hope he continues to wow us with
similar stuff in the future.

Awesome game. Can't believe I just sat for 41 minutes and enjoyed every second of it without getting bored.
It’s crazy how much slower the game was back then , in todays SC2 you usually have 3 bases fully Saturated by 6 : 30
The word epic gets thrown around a lot of late regarding how good a game is. This game truly meant it. Absolutely astonishing play from both players over such an amount of time. Grats to Bomber and Destiny, both the definition of stamina.

every flaming roasted body, every blood soaked terrain, every deadly green fungle, every green bursts of acid, every emp shock wave, every ground breaking siege tank bombardments...was the most epic thing i have ever seen.
I've been watching a lot of other casters recently and only Day9 is so cheerful during his casts that its always great coming back. It's like everybody else is so serious and Day9 is having fun.

I watched "Planet Earth" on Animal Planet with David Attenborough, great show. If there is ever a show called "Planet Char" with Day[9] as the host I'd watch that too, and i hope there will be a show like that!
@nicevidugotthere The extractor trick is when you are supply blocked, you build an extractor so you gain 1 supply because you "lost" that drone. Then you can build another drone with that extra supply and cancel the extractor, so you are at 11/10 supply.
Basically, you do it when you want an extra drone for a better economy in the early game.
This is probably the best and most exciting non-Broodwar game I have ever seen...

@AlargePotato SC2 ladder/competitive matches are played on the faster setting, where 1 second is about 2/3 of a normal second.

@Totorosushi Actually you could slam that into reverse, combat their forces from the front (if they have melee units make Rax / Bunker wall as line of defense), and as that happens drop enough units at the back to take out the valuble / vulnerable tech the Zerg has. It takes roughly 60 seconds (40 for Hydralisks) for most ground unit buildings of Zerg, an excellent timing window if you can replenish your forces in time (which at 5k minerals was very possible indeed).

@thugix Because they always had those abilities except, that fungal lasted longer and didn't do extra damage versus armored. And the only thing that was changed by this is, that Zergs actually began to use the infestor and explored how good it really is. I dare to say, that the pre-buff fungal was actually a more powerful support spell as the current fungal which is more of a dps spell.
Regarding Mindcontrol: You have to research it and it costs 100 Energy, for that cost it has to be good.
I think that Destiny won this game way before Bomber gged. I was surprised that Bomber stayed that long and that Day9 made it seem like he really had a chance. To me it seemed decided after the zergling run-by.
that was fun to watch. The guy that danced on MCs face when he beat him taken down.
No doubt the best game I've seen in months. Destiny is so innovative.

I stayed up till midnight watching this game. It id that good.
This is the game played to the level of a martial art, that was beautiful.
This is one of the few times im in a loss for words watching a SC2 game
@GrouEEf It's the same with Zerg v Zerg in early game (if you stick with ling, or if you tech to roach as they go mass ling you're screwed), it's also kind of the same with Toss - if they go DT and you're still Tier 1 that can be utterly painful, if they go Voidray and you scout too late that can be fatal, and for Terran it's the same early game.
It's an issue - definitely, but on Terrans part it isn't so big considering you have scans.
The ability to switch compositions is Zerg's strength
You know I sometimes like listen to Destiny while he plays! coz You know he chats so many interesting things! or Common Simple things that somehow seem interesting! :)
@GrouEEf that could be an option and i agree to a point.. the thing with infestors tho is they die extremely easily and they don't have a normal attack at all (like sentries for example) so a few good placed emp's on a clumped up infestor bunch makes them useless you would be hard pressed to nerf infestor to such a degree that people would actually want to get them because i personally won't if they decide to remove the +25 energy upgrade for infestors.. i do agree that it's slightly OP vs T tho

@Thecrazyhide infestors definately are op, they open tech paths to ultras, brood lords, they got the 1-click-stun-psystorm with a giant aoe vs terran, they can use the infested terrans against air and to haress or to make siegetanks use their aoe attack against their own units, they are cloaked and they´re insanely fast. in addition to this they rape mech with neural parasite. even david kim, balance designer for blizz admits that infesotrs are broken.
@lolisabadname storm also requires a research cost and time, where fungal is a base spell
Also guys bare in mind - since Zerg units are usually less cost-efficient than Terran (which is one of the reasons a Zerg requires +1 bases than its enemy), then how else could have Destiny combatted Bomber when the entire map was being taken? He made a smart move by using Infestors which have what is essentially an unlimited source of units. If anything I think Bomber could've more efficiently won if he had more Ghosts without the nukes. Destiny was adaptive this game and won - deal with it.

@Totorosushi i dont know if thats the complete reason, i lately had a discussion with a friend about this and we came to the conclusion that terran is the most solid race, if you are playing very well as terran its very hard to lose. also i think you would agree that of all races a terran is hardest to brake. i tend to be very patient in my games vs terran, since 1 bad engagement in a choke or something equals lots of dead zerg in my case.
we also think that zerg is the most difficult race.

Good game! I think bomber's mistake was that he found a tactic that worked really well (drops), but for some reason didn't continue keeping the pressure on with the same tactic.

@Phuild BUT, you kill your production to get ghosts out. that ghost could have been a marauder or two marines. and the cost of a ghost is stupid for the fact that EMP does no damage. ghosts are a defensive spellcaster unit. its the only one without a instant AOE damage spell.
@4jrod44 Forcefields hold units in place and, just like fungals, are broken by massive units. The controlling of units by infestors isn't anywhere near OP, infestors are so fragile that in nearly all situations, it won't be what turns the tide. In this example (i.e. this game), Bomber's problem was that he was overextending the vikings.
Ask any pro-gamer what unit is op, they won't say infestor.

Destiny´s play reminded ALOT I think about the viet kong tactics in vietnam war! Hit and run, decieve, win at all costs (who cares how many units he lost when he accomplished so much with them!)

@schniteldelieveryboy lol, yeah right, half of the terran supply was tanks, and they were sitting there blowing up their own shyt because of the infestor beach balls. late game terran relies mostly on offensive tank leaps, not balls of tanks waiting to be sniped.

And Zerg can rebuild a complete army in a blink, just by massing larvae when they are maxed.
Terrans can call Mules when they collect enough energy, although there should be some kind of cooldown, I give you that.
@ethalin jesus, just feedback them if Toss, EMP them if Terran, or use Ultralisks if Zerg.
@GrouEEf First, it was 2-shots, making it cost more energy and regen, and yeah - infestors are cost efficient. The same way Ghosts nullifies Infestors (in smaller numbers is often the case) is how Infestors nullify cloak and bio balls. You let the enemy get Hive and that's what happens - it wouldn't have been difficult to drop the back and go for the Infestation Pit.
It's not a stun - it immobilizes, there's a difference.
And that's the poiint of FG, an immobilization effect >.>

@mapleglobal219 Yeah ravens are disgusting but ghosts are also spellcasters and emps nullify everything. Cloak and nuke are pretty awesome as well. And the tiers are really different when you have to get lair. More so what I'm saying is the medivacs zerg equivalent of a overlord/queen hybrid that doesnt need the speed upgrade and also doesnt let you get supply blocked if you lose them. The medivac itself is an insane unit. And late game with tank/marine/scans/vikings are really good.
This game reminds me of TLO versus Farmer (TvsP) - Same epicness where SPOILER nukes also play a huge role
It wasn't because zerg is op that Destiny won.. The game was going back and forth with both races taking the lead at different parts of the game. Zerg was able to win it because @ 36:00 , Bomber left his tanks alone at the north while sending most of his bio army to attack Destiny's southern expansion. This left Bomber vulnerable for Zerglings to wipe out his tanks, leaving the infestors to clean up the bio army of the terran.
@nickalsk117 Just hold Shift while you decide where the medivac should move.
Pick your medivac -> Hold Shift -> Right click the way you want the medivac to move.
Destiny was saying how he never saw the expo at the beginning, didn't see the drop coming and had no idea why Bomber wasn't dropping.
@GrouEEf didnt read everything you typed but destiny wanted to use the broodlords to force the tanks to unsiege. I agree that his positioning wasnt the best possible but bomber had the tanks placed beautifully forcing that sort of angle of attack from destiny. if he had his infestors below the broodlords they would have been mauled by the tanks
@RMJ1984 Are you talking the marines that get fungaled repeatedly? Or the tanks that fire on you own troop once broodlords are out?
@massdestruction97 Yeah. You know. They can only be 1-hitted by tanks and cost a crapton of gas. Tank timing should be shorter than infestor timing anyways because of the lair tech you need.

Is the sc2 timer sped up for some reason? or is this just a bug from blizzard?

@GrouEEf no he didn't, if you watch the interview he mentions TWICE that in fact infestors plus brood lords is OP in the Terran lategame. unless there is a different interview where he flat out says infestors are broken then i just have not seen it. But those two things are very different

@mdsklz No lol.. It's the same thing with HT's & Ghosts, they're that good as well if you keep them for the entire game.
@thugix if you are a good player you can deal with them so, just because they have all those abilities, do you think the player controling them is able to do all of that, keep up their macro, micro the rest of the army and watch for any counter attacks? for terrans its called EMP, for prottos its called Blink stalkers.

@Thecrazyhide definately, i mean did u see the the ninja infestor? killing 20 marines in 1 shot, even psystorm is way weaker and at least it doesn´t stun. infestors are just unfair.
That was pretty epic. Suprising, given the zerg's slow start.
