- We're back in Imperator: Rome, a game that I simply refuse to let die. Today, with the invictus mod, we look to Cyrenaica, a splinter state from the Hellenic Expansion of Alexander the Great. First, we need to get free of Ptolmeic Egypt, and maybe we can then look to reclaiming Alexander's Empire? But that depends on you! What do you think? Shall we reclaim Alexander's Empire?

Most rulers ever about their peasants: "They run out of food really quickly for some reason" once again Laith is giving us a very historical portrail of reality, like that one time where, playing as a horde, he got sold a province by the AI only to immediatly raise it to the ground. Pure gold.
Funny how a game called Imperator Rome ended up with more flavor and gameplay for the Greek nations

Rome has a lot of content ;) There simply only is one Rome but many Greeks

Rome is Psuedo Greek, if not in blood then in culture. Besides that the game got a focus on the Greeks as the last major expansion giving mechanics for mods makers to work on. Really is no surprise when you consider that. Needs the game devs to create the mechanics for the mod makers to manipulate.
Fun fact, If you own other cities around the Mediterranean (ex: Athens, Pella, Babylon, Lysimachea, Rome if you are playing as Rome) you can move Alex's body there.
I feel dumb now, I'm literally majoring in history but was very confused for almost a minute. I don't know how it took me this long to see someone calling him Alex lmao

If you're going to go for Alexander's empire, I strongly recommend finding a character with the "Blood of the Argeads" trait and marrying them into your house. As forming the empire while a character with the trait rules the kingdom will allow you to form a special, better variant called the Argead Empire.
The amount of food you gain varies depending on the time of year just like real life. In the provinces where your people were starving, they weren't gaining enough food during the summer and fall to make it through the winter. That's why it seemed like it was constantly fluctuating. They were starving through the winter, and then as soon as they gained the first harvest in April, they were fine again.
I'm a simple man, I see Imperator: Rome content, I like it, watch all the way through and leave a comment.
Re: Barbarian strongholds - There is a map mode which shows where they are and how much they are civilising. The way to get rid of them is to enable the provincial edict that increases civilisation on the provinces adjacent to them.
13:18 Leith Invictus adds seasons to Imperator, so during the winter your food production will be shit but during the spring, summer and autumn it will be good peaking in summer. You need to build granaries to store more food.
Also if you want to improve your income switch to export focus and min max that commerce income.
You finally said it. Sitting back and playing tall in this game is really fun. Also, forums are the best food building, as they increase the rate you make food in a city.

The nice thing about the Greeks in the game, is that you can potentially get the Political, Religious, Government & Cultural map Colour.
Play one of the major Diadochi states. The last DLC and updates were designed specifically for the successor wars and it’s actually quite good stuff, it was a shame it never got truly showcased. The missions trees are interesting and events about collecting Alexander’s relics are fun imo
Cyrenaica is a region with a fascinating history of its own. Glad to see it get some attention!
The (correct) Latin and Greek pronunciation of Cyrenaica is Ku-re-nai-ka (as c = k in latin). English probably makes the 'c' an 's' and 'u' a 'y'/'i' though if you want to pronounce it wrong in the right way.
edit: As William mentioned in a comment, the 'y' would actually be pronounced as a 'u' as Cyrenaica is a Greek loan word. The spelling in Greek uses upsilon, which looks like 'y' but sounds like 'u'.
Also the y is like a the u in French t (Greek sound not present in Latin outside of Greek loans/place names) if we are going proper
Now that he's finally playing in Libya, I've realized that Laith looks a lot like Mummar Khadafi. Anyone else see it? Usually it's easier to tell, because his face-cam's also glowing green, which lends to the effect.
Also in regards to the food situation, Invictus has this mechanism where during winter Food goes into deficit VIA Modifier.

As far as I know the formations thing (Moose, Turtle, Dolphin, Hare, Wolf(?)) are a bit rock, paper, scissors-y. One counters the other, but you should take care to note that your army composition impacts the effectiveness of each tactic. A skirmishing tactic needs skirmishers, etc. Easiest way to tell is to just hover over the icon and see the percentage that indicates suitability. I believe that the cross/checkmark in battle is either suitability to your army comp or whether it is effective at dealing with the opposing tactic. This is just what I remember form playing the game some over a year ago, so I could be wrong.
Also of note, the icon is on the army screen, click it to change. Reorganization is also a useful button to find there too.

Laith, i have commented this before but the moose is the center icon on your army. It is your fighting style and you get bonueses on how well your army fights in that style. If you click on the moose in your army menu you can change your tactic.
You should send your ruler to siege every city, it triggers an event that gives popularity and money. You can get thousands of ducats from Egypt because of how many unfortified cities they have. The event only triggers when the besieger is your ruler, so you should make him lead a separate army to do it.

Don't know if you'll read this but the reason food randomly goes up and down is because of the seasons. Winter lowers food output and summer boosts it

Some time ago dev for stellaris released a patch for Imperator that fixes a lot of bugs and some balance too. You can access it as beta patch now in steam.
I have a strong suspicion that this is due to Laith. So thank you mr.Carthagenian) game reviving.

The option you selected said "We shall no longer honor the memory of a Tyrant" and that "Alexander's Remains will be lost to time. Reclaiming Alexander's Empire seems contradictory to that choice tbh.

Disable the seasonal food option of Invictus to stop the foodloss in winter. The AI can't handle it and in many regions it just doesn't work well.
Cyrenaica sounds interesting but I'd rather play the Greek kingdom on Crimea.

Also laith please look at your queued events. Every time you don’t click on “a minor amendum” and “untiring devotion” it kills me inside. if youre playing imperator rome you will want to use the "invictus" mod, its essential to play this game after paradox abandoned it. adds basically whole dlcs worth of content, including the provinces you asked about
