One item not mentioned on the checklists, is that you can power the battery bus by switching either Engine Master switch to ON, this will power up the Intercom, such that if afterwards you use the Jester Wheel to ask for Ground Power, you will hear the Ground crew acknowledge your request and also tell you once the GP is actually connected.
