      Ikr, the whole Eternal is 8-bit gamey with its art style and gameplay decisions. To be honest I feel it's a miracle that Eternal appeared to be a decent game because they've done so many things wrong compared to Doom 2016.

      @@stam1ska??? Eternal is significantly better than 2016, it evolved the fps genre, took the cool parts like the glory kills and made it better, the sentinels don't show up at the very end to where it feels like it was just shoehorned in, and at least Hayden got his ass beat which I'm sure we can all agree that's a good thing

    • @QuestionmarkTimes2
      @QuestionmarkTimes2 Před 7 měsíci +3

      @@RealKingCRK it's not better, let alone significantly better and it definitely didn't evolve the fps genre lmao. It's a solid (kinda) game, but 2016 is a damn masterpiece. There is no contest. I greatly appreciate that they tried to spice things up and changed up their formula instead of just releasing the same game twice (even though I just wanted more 2016) , but it really didn't work out. Tone is all over the place, the story is cringe and it's crystal clear that id had all sorts of management issues and no clear vision for what they wanted it to be. The open levels are the only tangible step forward that doom eternal took over 2016.

    I think it was the right call. It sounds like a fan remake. It doesn't do anything new with the melody, unlike the amazing reference to Bye Bye American Pie in Nekravol (one of multiple references) or E2M6 SInister, which is now chanted or E1M8, which is also an epic chant in Doom 2016. I do think Into Sandy's City is one of the quintissential Doom 2 tracks but I think Mick didn't really do a good job with this particular track.

    • @pigaboyAKAthecoolestguyonearth
      @pigaboyAKAthecoolestguyonearth Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah, i think people start saying this stuff shouldn't have been taken out without really analizing the thought process behind this decisions, this also applies to the 200 and something BPM song and the "no guitars" rule.
      It's easy to say a decision was bad, but it was never made "just because", the 200 BPM song, as cool as it was, just simply didn't fit the speed of the actual game, and there is a point where using broken sounds to make the song more powerful stops being clever usage of noise and starts becoming JUST the noise breaking the rythm, and being ridiculosly fast doesn't automatically make the song good.
      Adding Sandy's city at the end was obviously a pretty nice idea, and a lot better than just adding the same e1m1 remix people have been hearing at every important moment since Doom 2016, but as Mick said, it was just a mockup (i think that's how it's called) and unfortunately didn't make it into the game

    • @fulldisclosureiamamonster2786
      @fulldisclosureiamamonster2786 Před rokem +5

      I realize it's much more obvious now with Mick's statement and all, but even in this interview he literally says it was a demo that wasn't meant to be released in this state. If id didn't reject it he obviously would have expanded on it more, but the track as is was just a proof of concept for Sandy City being played over the ending cinematic.
