RULES FOR YarnWithHeart DRAWS:
• In June, this channel reached a milestone. Over 300 subscribers!! Throughout July, you can enter for a chance to win some yarn-y goodies.
• And on July 25th, I will spin the wheel, to pick 2 winners. (The prizes are 2 small boxes/bags of yarn)…
• During my 11 videos, each of you can have chances to enter your names on two Wheels of Names, if you would like… One of the wheels is a wooly gift and one wheel of names is a non-wool one. (The non-wool one could have some traces of wool, as there is wool in the house.)
• Feel free to use both secret words, if you would like a chance at each prize…
• Watch my videos each day to see how to enter your name, as the secret words will be different on each video. As soon as I see your comment with the secret word, I will add your name and the date on the wheel.
• All items in the prizes have been purchased by me.
• I will pay shipping anywhere in the world to get the item to the winner
• The winner will be responsible for any duty, taxes or extra charges beyond that.
• The draw is open to anyone age 18 or older.
• You Tube has nothing to do with this give away.
*** As of July 5th, I am making a slight change (to information given during July 3rd video). You can use both secret words in one comment, if you would like to be entered in both draws. Or you can use one secret word in that comment, if you want to be entered in only one draw. I am still new to having draws, and thought that asking for 2 comments would be necessary for me to keep track of it all…
*** Note that you can do either one or two comments as long as I see you use secret words on each video, I will know which wheel of names to add you to… I hope that is ok with everyone and very sorry for changing things up like that. Just trying to make things easier on all of you….

What a beautiful prayer shawl . knitting is my passion, but I certainly would love to learn to crochet.
Thank you so much for such kindness about the prayer shawl. (I really do hope you love crochet when you learn it.)
For me, knowing how to do both has been wonderful, and now I like both equally. Sometimes a yarn seems to look best in one or the other... (And I love how knitting uses less yarn, so it is my go-to when I am a bit short of yardage.)
I do both and enjoy both, but prefer knitting. You’re doing a good job Cathy. Really great.😊😊😊
Thank you! 😊I really do want to try and share things that I find and what I've learned about... (I haven't been knitting long, but really have come to enjoy it too!)
Love your shawl. I'm partial to the purple colors.
Thank you so much! She chose such pretty colours that work really well together.
Dish cloth on the needles and a couple of blankets on hooks.
I also really like crocheting blankets. :-)
Hello Cathy
Your shawl looks amazing.
I'm knitting one shawl now for my girlfriend. Thank you for sharing with us your beautiful projects❤
Thank you so much! Your hand-knit shawl will be a wonderful gift from you for your girlfriend...
Cathy the shawl is beautiful. Love the colors and the pattern. I am a crocheter. I learned to knit as a child, but have not picked it up since then. Maybe someday.
Thank you so much for commenting about the shawl. The person chose colours and the type of pattern, so this was different from my usual "free spirited" way of crochet. LOL
I love to knit and I’m knitting a comfort chicken for my sister!
I really like the patterns for comfort chickens that I have seen. It is so nice that you are making one for your sister.
During the summer a bottle of cold water would be nice for the mail carriers. I both knit and crochet. I am crocheting a sweater, knitting a cotton t-shirt, and just started a pair of socks.
Thank you Andrea! That is a great idea for the mail carriers... especially during such a hot summer as this one has been.
Hi Cathy good morning , another warm one here today . I knit and crochet I always have projects going for both , I started a new crochet blanket last night and I have knit mittens on the go , I love your shawl the colours are beautiful the purple really stands out ❤ have a great day
Hi Jan! I love crocheting blankets... It is so fun to make each one a little different, even if there is a pattern, there is opportunity to change colour or size or the border. Love that about blankets! I hope you have a great day too.
I do all types of crafts. I’m always trying different things. I also like to recycle projects. I only crochet and right now I am crocheting a Bag-O-Day sweater called from grandpa’s closet
I also like to reinvent gently used items (although I haven't tried this with crafting). This is interesting and I am curious about it. Thank you so much for this comment!
I both knit and crochet. Right now I'm knitting a stitch sampler shawl with different mini skeins.
Stitch samplers are great! I love working different stitches & seeing how it all looks in the end.
What a lovely shawl. I knit and crochet. I'm just weaving in the ends of a short knitted scarf. I haven't decided what to start next.
I am in a similar situation. Between projects, where I picked out the yarn, but unsure what pattern to make.
Beautiful yarn from Diane today !
I crochet and I am currently making my daughter a hexicardi.
❤❤❤
Diane is so good to me.... all this lovely yarn! (Found the ball band... it was inside the gift wrap, and although I looked, I didn't look well enough LOL)
I crochet and knit. Currently I have three pairs of socks and two sweaters on my needles. I am also crocheting a potholder. I learned both from my Mother over 60 years ago. I crochet without patterns and knit with patterns.
Your knitting includes the two things that I would like to learn to knit... sweaters & socks! Making a sweater is my goal for 2024... and I have been building my skills this year, so that hopefully I will be able to accomplish a sweater soon.
Your shawl is beautiful
Thank you so very much!
I knit every day and I’m a very beginner crocheter. I can do a Granny Square, but I can’t follow a crochet pattern at all. Knitting comes easier to me. You’re a very generous crafter ❤
I learned much of my crochet by watching tutorials online. It took some time, and at first I could not read patterns... just followed what the tutorial said to do. Eventually, it gets easier. And as soon as you made your first granny square, you became a crocheter. :-)
Hello Cathy, it is a pleasure to watch your episodes. For Christmas, I follow the formula " Something you want, something you need, something to wear something to read" for my kids, it is a little similar to your gift suggestions. For many years, I was only crocheting and maybe 5-6 years ago I started knitting and it is what I prefer lately. I have a few projects happening at the same time, I always have a pair of socks on the go, I have a ranunculus, my first one and a tolsta vest for my kid. I also have a hot water bottle cozy made out of mitered squares.
I really like your Christmas formula and might adopt it! Thank you so very much! (I was curious about the knitting that you are currently working on, and absolutely love the ranunculus.)
I knit and crochet. I just cast a pumpkin on my needles and I plan to start crochet snowflakes shortly.
I would like to try making a pumpkin someday! So far, I have not tried making anything 3 dimensional... It makes me a bit nervous, however I'd like to try.
Morning Cathy! You are extremely generous with your craft, the shawl is beautiful ❤ I both knit and crochet. Knitting is what I’ve done since I was a child but I’ve crocheted for quite a while now too. Like Diane I’m a market maker so the list of what’s on my needles/hooks is long 😂. I finished the Jethro Cardigan last night so today I have been knitting a Mallard and crocheting a summer dress/tunic. And when I break from those I have 4 large bears needing legs and clothes😂. Yes, I have a hard time with sitting still! Have a great rest of your day, hopefully no bad weather your way today!
Hi Tami! I think it's wonderful that you share beautiful handmade items at markets. At one time, I sold a few items, but because of a physical health situation, it is not possible for me. Regret that, day to day, I cannot be sure how well I will feel. Thank you so much for being so kind -- complementing the shawl. At this point, it brings me joy to share what I know, and hope that it helps lots of people -- those making things to sell, the designers, and those just starting out with crochet/knitting.
I am a knitter, but am trying to learn to crochet. Right now, I am knitting the Tangled Poets Pickle Jar cowl from Aberdeens.
I love the colours in tangled poets minis! Crochet takes a bit of time to catch onto, but there are so many stitch variations that it will be well worth it. If you ever would like to know the people who I watched on video when I was learning, let me know & I can talk about that on a future video. :-)
A lady I met cut strips from magazine pages using a ruler about 1/4" or thinner and glued them to the front of blank cards she made. It was a good idea to reuse the magazines. I both crochet and knit in the intermediate level. I am currently making knitted blanket squares for the Anthology Blanket KAL by Underground Crafter.
What a great idea for making cards! The Anthology Blanket KAL sounds great. (I also follow Underground Crafter). :-)
Lovely shawl
I both knit and crochet plus I do Tunisian crochet. Currently on my hook(s) are various blankets for my grand puppies. On my needles I have a slit knit scarf that I am working on.
I love to make blankets. And I am very interested in slit knit scarves... as I am newer to knitting, this is something that I will want to search!
Hi Cathy! I knit and crochet! And I have socks on the needles, and a c2c blanket on the hook! ❤
I am guessing with the name soxynana, that you either have a lot of experience making socks or use a lot of sock weight yarn for other makes... or maybe both. (I love c2c!)
Hi Cathy. I knit and crochet. Right now I am working on variegated granny squares with a black border, but later on I will probably be knitting mittens.
I love granny squares so much! They will be so great with a black border... I'd like to try that some time!
I crochet, I'm just now finishing up a mushroom bag then I'm going to start a shawl
I just looked for pictures of mushroom bags... Those are so cute!
Hi Cathy. Your shawl is so beautiful. I am both a knitter and crocheter. I currently have a knit tank top on my needles.
Thank you so much! Making a shawl by request (using colours/pattern requested) was new to me, and a good challenge. Usually I just free-style everything. Making a knit top is my 2024 goal, and I hope to try getting a start on one this autumn.
Hello, I thought I left a message under this video, but after Diane was saying she was having trouble I thought I had better recheck.
The yarn Diane gave you is beautiful!! The colors are so pretty!! Your mail lady sounds very sweet!
I am both a crocheter and a knitter, but I have been crocheting the longest. What's on my hook, well I am trying to make afghans for all seven of my grandchildren so I have a couple of those on my hooks.Right now I don't have any knitting projects on my needles.
Hi Alanna! My mail lady is definitely a very sweet person, and it is so nice getting to know her over a number of years. It is wonderful that you have seven grandchildren, and you will be very busy making afghans! (I have a blanket my grandma made. It is very special to me.)
I am a knitter only! I am currently making socks!
Some day I would like to knit socks. For now, I am an advanced beginner and turning a heel is something that sounds very tricky to me. Some day I will try....
Hi, I do knit and crochet and also have tried Tunisian crochet. I test patterns on Ravelry, Instagram and Discord. Right now, I'm testing two knitted sweaters, one cotton and one in wool. Thanks for asking!
There is so much skill involved in getting patterns ready -- designing and testing and tech editing. Thank you so much for testing patterns, as all these steps of patterning -- it really is a labour of love.
Your shawl is very pretty!
I knit, crochet & macrame.
On my hook now is a baby blanket when finished it will be 40" round from a Herrschners kit.
Also have a crochet washcloth on my hook.
Thanks for the tips, very helpful!🤗🧶
My mom recently gave me some macrame cord. I am unsure what I will do with it... however eager to see where it takes me!
Hi. That was very pretty yarn you got today. Currently there is nothing on my hook😮. I got a DP and have been obsessed with trying to finish it. I crochet for now. Maybe someday I knit. Have a great day, see you in a couple days.
I totally understand how enjoyable DP is... When I am working on one of the ornaments, I really do feel that I want to see how it looks "finished". They are so beautiful when complete!
Hi Cathy. I mostly crochet; currently I have many things on my hooks but one of them is Agatha's Reading Shawl by Ophelia Talks and it's a half hexagon like the prayer shawl you show in the video. Love the shape; I will definitely be making more. This one is a Christmas present. I can knit but I don't like it as much as crochet; I have a simple scarf on my needles at the moment.
I would love to make a Reading Shawl some day. The half hexagon is such an interesting shape. Until this year, I did mainly crochet too... It has been these past 6 months that my knitting has really increased.
I knit and have sock cardigan top and dishcloth
Hello Sandy! I would enjoy knitting a cardigan and socks someday. :-)
Cathy - I knit a lot. I don’t crochet. I currently have a sport weight vest on the needles. I hope to have it finished this weekend.
Thank you for sharing. It always feels so great to have a finished object.... and to start considering what to cast on next!
I think you know I am a crocheter. I have a shawl for the July MAL on my hook as well as my 6th square for the summer CAL. (I am not entering the draws)
Hi Judy! I remember there was a time when you did a wee bit of knitting, but not any knitting now (that must have been a tidbit on one of your past videos?). I am enjoying the stitch tutorials that you have on your channel. And I think that I will have enought time to make something for the summer CAL if I start promptly next month...
Another great video! While I have been trying to learn knitting, I can only actually crochet so far.
I keep picking up needles to make the attempt though!
This year, I tried to knit a bit each day. And slowly it is becoming (almost) as much a joy as crochet for me... Hoping that you stay with the knitting too, as there are some times when it really comes in handy to know both.
Ha ha i initially understood it as male person 😅, then I realised ...mail - in the UK we call them postman or postwoman.
I crochet and knit but very basically. I am currently making a basic chunky crochet tank top in preparation for the winter to keep me warmer indoors as last winter was SO cold indoors.
Ah, yes... the language difference. That is fun humour and made me giggle.
What a good idea to crochet a warm tank top for winter! That will definitely help to keep things cozy for you.
Hello Cathy. I have been enjoying your videos, thank you for doing them. The shawl you made is lovely. The yarn you opened today is gorgeous. I love the colours and see that it definitely is your colours as it even matched the top you have on! I am a knitter. I do want to learn to crochet since I see so many great patterns. I have several projects on my needles right now. I am just set to finish off a ribbed scarf in Mary Maxim prism for donation. I have a couple of heavier sweaters also on the needles but will likely not be worked on over summer. I have some yarn lined up on my counter right now trying to decide if I want to make another scarf or perhaps a cotton top next.
Hi Carol! Thank you so much for the comment about the shawl... and I do absolutely love the yarn(s) from Diane. The colour changes in Prism yarn would be gorgeous in a scarf. I'd love to hear how you decide with the cotton yarn -- a top or a scarf...
Hi I'm enjoying catching up with your vlogs I'm a knitter and currently on my needles are I think 6 projects. I'm primarily working on a Christmas sweater but as I am on a little trip at present I'm knitting on scrappy socks x
So nice to have a few projects "on the go". And especially one that travels well. Safe travels to you!
Good morning Cathy! I crochet. I have a few things on my hook, a blanket for my sister and I just started yesterday, a blanket for boggy creek. Also making some progress on a cotton scrapghan. I don’t know why I am gravitating toward blankets in the middle of summer. 😅
You are brave to make large blankets during summer. LOL
I will soon be starting one, the yarn is ready and I am looking for " the right pattern", however it'll be a baby blanket.
@@YarnWithHeart I'm having fun with a pattern by Bagoday you might be interested in. I'm using a 4 wt yarn (Yarn Bee Sugarwheel) and it is soft w a nice drape. However it is C2C so might not be appropriate for babies (gaps). Anyway, just thought I'd mention it 😊because I like it so much! czcams.com/video/NNCvLSC2FGg/video.htmlsi=SzCb4pvuO_jLsm1U
You're so sweet Cathy. Great lil gift ideas. I'm getting so inspired watching your videos with all the lil tips. The cotton yarn is so pretty. I don't see a label, Amy idea what kind that is? I've never seen those colors in a cotton yarn. Again very nice of granny Annie to pay it forward. I only crochet, but praise those that can do both. I've lost my crojo lately with some long standing commission projects and I have a million wips right now. I'm working on a blanket, a couple shawls, a hat and a rosary. That being said I haven't actively worked on anything for a couple weeks. The wrap is lovely, I might need to look that one up. I've been trying to find a simple pattern I don't have to pay attention to.
Hi Sarah! The ball band for the yarn was hiding inside the gift wrap, as it was same colour! When I looked inside the wrapping paper and thought "oh, it came without a ball band". LOL (I will let people know next video, it is Berroco Summer Sesame in color 5257. A new yarn for me to try!). I hope your crojo returns soon. (Mine was gone, a year ago, and after I emailed Salena Baca about it, she did a YT video on the topic of crojo, which I found very helpful.) I'm so happy that you like the shawl, and, in case it helps -- another wrap that is similar shape and very popular -- is the Reading Shawl. Not to worry, when your crojo comes back, you will have so much creative energy and ideas... it will amaze you! Take care. :-)
@@YarnWithHeart thanks for the encouragement and the additional pattern to check out.

Hi Cathy, I knit and I know how to crochet, but my fingers like knitting, better. My hands feel stained when I crochet, but I still have patterns in both I want to make. I’m a pretty slow crafter. I’m currently working on a summer cardi for my mom, a shawl for my sister and my very first pair of socks. Your shawl is pretty!
Thank you for your kind comment about the shawl.
About sore fingers and crochet... Sometimes I wonder if rain makes it worse for me, or just a year-round thing? So far, for me, it is my thumb that "gets me". And I cannot figure out if it's the particular yarn that I'm working or the weather -- some days are ok and others, not so much.
Socks and a sweater are both on my list of things that I would like to learn to knit someday.
It’s trying to keep my index finger up in the air for tension. My finger just gets tired and then I tense up. Although the weather affects my knees so I’m sure it affects my fingers too 🤔😊
The shawl is beautiful. I crochet mostly but I can knit, mostly fingerless gloves on DPN's. I am currently working on a blanket the pattern is el dorado by JHOOKCROCHET
I just did a quick look at pictures of the el dorado blanket. It is gorgeous! Wow, sooo gorgeous!
Hello, I am working on finishing a Tunisian shawl
Tunisian stitches are so pretty! And I really like making shawls.
I crochet and knit what's on my hook I'm crocheting a hat
I enjoy making hats too. :-)
Hello, I crochet. I am working on knitting.. I have A scrap blanket on my hook...And I will be starting the Southwest Blanket from Susan Kennedy soon....And I want to make A summer dress too... I am very shy too. My mom said I did not talk until I was 3 years old... I do not talk to anyone very much... But I am A great person, I just wish I was more open... I had made A reading shawl that looks like that shawl you made. It is on my channel videos. If you want to check it out.. (Stitching on the hill with DiAnna) I put Butterflys on mine...Not sure what video it is on...Thank you..
Hi Dianna! I had to take a peek at what the Southwest Blanket will look like and it is going to be gorgeous! I am going over to your channel and sub, because I'd like to see it when you finish. Maybe you'll show progress videos too, about the yarn you are using, etc? As soon as I get time, I am going to look for your reading shawl (I love butterflies, almost as much as bunnies... they are a close second).
Like you, shyness has been all my like also. When I was really young, my nicknames were Mouse and Squeak. LOL And to this day, it takes me quite a long time to "get talking", even now. Except when it comes to yarn/crochet/knitting.... I can talk a bit about those things. LOL
