Old Kerosene Lamp Restoration. Amazing ignition system.

- This lamp contains an interesting secret. It is quite difficult to disassemble for maintenance and refueling. I think that's why the seller sold this lamp very cheaply, he could not disassemble it.
The wick of this lamp is ignited by a lighter built into the body. But this lighter didn't work either.
Recovery process:
I unscrewed the bottom of the lamp using a thin awl. Then I dismantled the lighter into small parts and found a malfunction. After I cleaned and polished all brass parts and reassembled in reverse order.
The lamp body was quite oxidized and also needed a thorough cleaning. To do this, I used a soft brass nozzle on a drill.
Then I painted some parts, filled the fuel tank with lighter gasoline, installed new flint.
I enjoyed working with this old lamp, and I was also pleased with the result of my work.

That's a mine safety lantern. It's not for illumination, but to determine the amount of breathable air available. That is what the graduations on the glass are for.
It's supposed to burn kerosene. Not lighter fluid (Naptha).
When I was in the U.S. Navy, we used this lamp called an "explosi-meter". The fuel was naptha. The lamp would be used when entering tanks or voids to test for explosive vapors. If the flame went out with a "POP!" vacate the area immediately.
Very interesting name for a lamp)

Но думаю не стоит работать с электродрелью и металлической щеткой на ней в таких перчатках. Если зацепит и намотает вместе с рукой, то травма будет куда хуже чем если быть без перчаток вообще
Интересная лампа. Дед был шахтёр,в гараже есть две,он их брал на рыбалку с ночёвкой,одна такая же как на видео,только без зажигания. Тоже думаю восстановлю как руки дойдут. Спасибо за видео.)

Эта лампа называется ,,коногонка,, были разновидности для керосина,бензина и карбида. Использовалась не только для освещения,но и для указания уровня метана в шахтной атмосфере. Отметки в процентах на стекле,это процентное содержание метана в воздухе. При фиксированном положении фитиля,уже правда не помню в каком положении,если пламя вытягивались до отметки 4%, то туши лампу и тикай! Двойная сетка нужна для того чтобы горячие газы остыли и не могли поджечь метан вне лампы,хотя это работало не всегда из за дефектов сетки.Точность измерения довольно неплохая,но я предпочту современный интерферометр. Честно сказать с зажигалкой вижу впервые,обычно заправляли и зажигали на поверхности,и спускались с уже горящей.
Двойная сетка очень важный элемент. Она пропускала метан в лампу отсекая кислород и лампа светилась голубым светом. До 80-х годов 20 века была основным газоанализатором в шахтах.

У продавца ума немного. Это специальная шахтная лампа, так и должно быть, для предотвращения взрыва. В шахте неприкрытое пламя очень опасно, может взорваться метан.
Вы все правильно пишите. Такой замок специально сделали что бы шахтеры не смогли снять защитное стекло во взрывоопасной зоне, для каких то своих целей...
@@ITBR_Restorationдля прикурить... 😂 На самом деле, она, действительно, больше для газоанализа. Использовалась в шахтах, где есть опасность выхода СО в штреке. Для этого она носилась за крючок в районе колена или вешалась пониже, где концентрация СО максимальная. В шахтах подмосковного угольного бассейна использовалась часто, там глубина пластов 60-80 метров. В Донбассе шахты гораздо глубже, 700-800 метров, там опасность выхода метана и взрывоопасность гораздо выше. Насколько я помню, там такие не использовали. И, да, конечно это не керосиновая, а бензиновая лампа. У меня такая есть.
