- With special permission from platform security, we were allowed to record the arrival, at 7.20sec, of the Royal Train (67005/006 ) and the Royal Party being greeted on the platform.....plus some freight!
In part one of an excellent but very hot day we see various class 66s, of special note is 66162 going on the line north via Queen Street and 70806 with 2 log wagons passing through towards Newport. Due to being limited with our position on the Royal Platform I was just able to record the ecs move to Canton..part 2 soon...
I find it amazing that the Queen just takes off walking into a number of people without fear.
They all been vetted
The Queen is never afraid being with her people. It's a bit like a situation when a visitor to Copenhagen saw Queen Margrethe out shopping for flowers. He asked a Dane who was guarding her, to be told, 'All of us.'
It's quite clear that the loco is a class 67, number 67005 ! Built in Valencia, Spain. One of 29 working throughout the UK since 1999. There's only one class 28 remaining from the 1950s; not in working order...Thanks for watching...Mike in Wales
That platform was fairly clear. The surprise for me was being allowed to be at end of platform.
@@leedza I've been taking photos of the "Royals" for years and in Cardiff since I retired over 20 years ago. It's a case of being known, and trusted, by the authorities.
Wow,
So simple and calm ceremony to welcome the queen 😘😘.
She has a bigger reception when she meets the City Mayor etc at the City Hall. Did you know she sleeps on the train rather than use hotels? There's a siding ( I know it well ) where the train stops overnight, closely guarded by the security services
@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways Fascinating Mike!! 🍷🍷🍷.

Very interesting footage of HM the Queen arriving. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent footage of the royal train arriving in CF Mike. Cheers for sharing Mike.
Very interesting, thank you for the info. I am watching the video again today.
wow, that's something to see the queen! awww.. i didnt realize she was so short. such a sweet, respectable lady. very impressive :-)
@Jeff Moss What has she done to you? Lmao
The Queen used to be 5’2”” in height I believe. Time passing shrinks us all...
She never used to be short. She once stood 6 foot 2 inches in her Royal stockinged feet. The pressure of royal life and that twat Andrew brought on an early stoop.
Excellent video! Thank you very much for making it available for us to watch.
She must be popular; 66,000 have watched this link.............thank you too...............Mike with the camera
Lovely, thanks for posting.
Nice ! Greetings from France !
Thanks for watching, I have over 1000 clips on my YT......been recording since 1986..in my 80th year now and still out and about!

Superb video. Excellent.
Amazing how busy it is in the Cardiff station area. They must have more train cars per capital than anywhere in the world!
The Cardiff Central station covers all the Welsh Valleys and the line from London to Swansea. Most popular with office staff commuting to the Capital
Looks like somebody has never been to Switzerland
Amazing you were able to get such good shots of the Queen arriving at Cardiff.
I know most of the station staff and I've also been making videos since I retired in 1998; so I think they trust me by now. Also Camilla came to our local Physic Garden and I had permission to photograph her too....................thanks for watching. .Mike
There was certainly plenty going on at Cardiff during your visit Mike....always good to see the Royal Train being used by the Royal Family...Bob
Well done Mike yet again who needs the BBC or ITV or Sky you got it covered and I was able to see this visit and unable to see it any where else plus the freight show to go with it.
It arrives at 7.30 on the video clip. The carriages are special to the Royal Family. Very secure, strong build and special layout with carriages for security/officials who organise the visits. The locos are also used on other network services but their livery matches the colour of the Royal Stock. Hope this helps.
Am I right in thinking the inner coaches are mk 3s, with a mk 2 on each end?
Great video! Thanks
Thanks for watching; 2 more clips from 1994 added yesterday.....and many more to come as I started in 1986 !!
Very nice video. I don't even know if the Dutch Royals have a train like this
Mike. I worked on the Royal train in 1974 so know all about how they hide the train. I could tell you probably more places and funny stories about cutting tunnels and sidings where they hide the train. Where they now hide the train I don't know as lots of the places are now no longer there.
I was sat in a meeting and looked out on to Central. saw the platform 3/4 Newport end !
You were SAT? Not sitting?
Nice train video. For a train for her and the family they must have a lot of hanger ons for that size of train. Nearly as large as the US circus trains.
The Royal Family is an institution in the UK ( like the President of the US) and they employ 1000s of individuals to maintain their important position here They do far more good, would you still be " working " in your 90th year??
@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways Fantastic!! And now The Queen is 96 and we have celebrated her Jubilee!! God continue to be with Her Majesty for many more years!!! 🎈🎈🎈. God Bless The Queen and The Royal Family!!! 🔮🔮🔮.
Very enjoyable thanks Mike
Great video of the royal train and the qween cool trains
Always difficult to get the times of its movements too....thanks for watching
That trailing 67 could do with a touch up brush in places!
Give some school kid a couple of bottles of black Humbrol, a small brush and a memory for life.
They forgot to polish the loco with adrenochrome .
67006 could have its number plate redone. it looks a bit tattered but besides that an amazing train and amazing video pal
I believe it's now been repainted.....................................Mike
oh good!
What fucking stupid concern.
What a beautiful site, the carriages are in beautiful condition
A good team maintain this set..have you watched my video of 6 Royal Trains; posted last week
Too bad the occupants aren’t

67005 is also probably the number of years the Queen plans to remain Queen, too. I've seen less durable buildings.
Very cute.😉
Great video. Makes everything seem really busy. Amazing zoom on your camera. HSTs still look great. Where was that 2 wagon log train going?
Thanks
Superb video Mike Regards C&A

Do you have a video of your train?
Great stuff
10 wagons total. 2 engines and 8 with seats kitchen etc. Big train for one person to travel
Like a President etc, the Queen has her entourage to travel with her, including security, planners for the day's events as well as her own accommodation on the train, as she often sleeps on the train when making early appointments throughout the country. Are these individuals are gainfully employed and we all enjoy her presence. Hope this helps understand the situation.
Very good video :-). The 67's are cool train :-). Wow!!!! :-). It featured the queen in a cameo of the video :-). Very very nice :-). It also featured Prince Philip in a cameo of the video aswell :-). Lucky you? :-). You managed to see some royal family members :-). I must agree the 67's are good trains.

Thanks once again for watching and the comment. We're fortunate to still have quite a variety of traction in the area and a good feedback from friends and the internet as to what's happening on the railway.
Also I do make time to edit the clips and having a good camera helps too. part 2 soon, once I've cut the grass and fed the baby squirrels !

Very cool did not know there was a Royal train.
The locos are used elsewhere when not on "Train" duty
Where was the Royal Train stabled the night before as it's normally in sidings or a cutting nearby
Sorry, more than my life's worth to disclose that information. I know someone who tried to locate it but was moved off by security services !!

I love train rides. I hope the following comments are not irrelevant: I rode Amtrak often with my family and enjoyed it a lot. But now that I live alone, I have no one to travel with (nor can I afford it.) I hate flying (my ears are "the poppers"), but I love train rides.
I hope you enjoy my trip to Pembroke Dock that I posted last week. Views of Welsh countryside and stations
Mike Wilcock When you're in Wales, give my regards to 🎼🎶🎵Charlotte Church and Aled Jones.🎼🎶🎵
Mike Wilcock I have just watched it, and I love the scenery. What were the trains with long black cars? There's several different kinds of trains going by and in between squeals of excitement at the scenery, I was trying to figure out what is what (the different trains.)
The trains with the " long black cars " are transporting steel; which is covered to protect it from the rain.
The squeals are caused by the wheels of passenger trains with fixed bogies ( wheels ) that rub against the steel rails The train at 14.00 is going up the Valleys to collect coal from Cwmbargoed for the power station at Aberthaw, See my video last month at Aberthaw.
The " long black cars " are covered steel travelling long distance The one at 2.50 is going up the line on the right is going to collect coal from Cwmbargoed. There are clips last month at Cwmbargoed. Squeels are caused by steel wheels rubbing on steel track on the tight curves
10:55 look 👀 at the cut on this Sargent. Massive man! 😅
Good vid but tell me what is the difference between permission and special permission?
The Special Forces guard the Royal Family around the UK. So thta's who gave me permission to be on the station with my camera. OK?
10:17 for the Queen
Woooow.There are lots of hanger-ons 😮😮
At least they feel important, even though she doesn't know who they are ( other than the train staff)
i see ol' charlie and cammy were there too , maybe the future king in 'training'...boom boom.....
Oh you disrespectful commonest of the commoners stop making unkind comments concerning the next Queen of the British Empire. I took a photo of Camille while she was in Canada, looking positively radiant. The Duchess of Cornwall turned in my direction sending a beautiful smile my way, flashing a big, smile with her craggy, brown, British teeth in their fullness. You detractors will never fully appreciate the jewel you have with gorgeous Camille.
I saw here train at bath spa station as I was sat inches from it, then went passed her train as I was coming into Bristol. When I got to Cardiff I came outside and the queens car was there waiting for her, but I was unable to stop and wait for her. God save the queen awesome video thank you.
Jesus, you had some good luck - normally they lock off the entire platform.
They've known me since 1976, so trust me by now. Thanks for you comment, have a good New Year.
So was the queen the one in the blue, or the white?
The rather elderly, shortish, slightly stooping lady in the pale blue dress. Our alternative to Trump! Which would you choose?
The queen.
The two or three goods trains preceding the Queen’s train …. her luggage? Man! she goes with hell of a lot of luggage.
Did you know that the Queen always sleeps in the Royal Train if she's touring the UK. I have video of where it stays overnight; not to be published.
@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways would love to see what it is like inside her train carriage.

Great Video Thanks, We love seeing the Queen, God save the Queen.
You better hurry up.
I'm not sure if retro is a good way to describe this beautiful train, but there is something great about the dark paint, the clean and lovingly waxed surface, and those rounded lines and deeper set windows. I recall seeing a matching steam engine in some videos, it could have been at the time of Lady Diana's death or the Queen returning from her Scottish castle.. I'm sure if my ancestors had not moved to the US in the 1880's I would be one of the cheering onlookers, with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat when the Queen shook my hand or walked past me. It's what you have or haven't experienced that sets up normal. When I saw the plague that recorded the visit of the Queen, it occurred to me that the entire country is covered with such plagues representing the visits of a King or Queen Prince or Princess. I do however applaud those who might have removed those remembrances to that traitorous weasel Prince Edward when he made a visit in the brief time he wore a crown.
I hope you mean...plaque.........plague is an affliction/pestilence...anyway thanks for your comment; where are you resident?
Yes How in the blue blazers did I screw that up? Yes plaque, not plague we have had even of that n the fourteenth century. OMG, one of my worst mistakes on line
I'm in the US living in the state of Arizona, close to Phoenix. My family of Stansworth's and Western's left Tiverton, Devon in the 1880's for the American West. When it becomes very hot about 117 degrees F, in the summer, I would like to revisit the issue of moving and think about staying in England
At least it proves I read all the comments................thanks for watching...makes a 74yr old pensioner happy
Mike Wilcock Yup my misspelling of plague or plaque was misread by the spellcheck either than or the witch Mrs Babcock my third grade teacher botched the job of teaching me to spell to begin with.. a
Nice one mate
Thanks, I'm so fortunate to have access/knowledge of these events
Would love to see
It with a hst loco at each end would
Look so much better
Matthew Stamp - a proper coal fired steamer would look better.
Go to British royal train interior on google
When will the queen upgrade to new 800 class?
Pardon if lots of people already asked this, but why is the loco on the tail end not running? And if anybody says "because nothing is chasing it!", they can sit right next to me but seriously....why?
When the train arrives at Cardiff; its destination, the loco would have to detach from the carriages and run round to return the train to London. This will take time; so by having an extra loco on the rear the driver takes it back within 5 mins of arrival. Hope this makes sense to you?
Mike Wilcock It does . I think I saw the front / rear locos as the same set up commuter trains often use with both engines running and slaved to each other so was not expecting the rear loco to be silent but makes sense now.
how are these trains (not the ones with the diesel engines) powered?
All the trains passing through Cardiff are diesel powered. Which ones are you looking at??
@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways The ones that don't have a diesel engine attached. The commuter trains?
Class 150, for example, have 285hp diesel engine above each bogie
Hi Mike. We are making a film celebrating Milton Keynes 50th Birthday. Could we use a small snippet of your video? The royal train is stored in Milton Keynes and it's something we are keen to include! We will credit!

Why does the queen need such a long train? What she doing in there?
She stays on the train overnight; rather than use hotels when travelling the UK. So the staff are needed too

Now there's a right royal waste of money, how many carriages for how many hangers-on? Very good video work by the way.
Be positive! Think of all those individuals in employment moving the Royals around the UK. Would you do all the Queen does at 92 years of age?
Hmmm. The sergeant was watching the queen, not looking for trouble elsewhere. Not best practice.
Quite right; she comes here so often they are quite relaxed at the station. However, all platforms are closed. I'm fortunate to have a press pass!
The train are cool to watch, but where is the royal train?

How could you miss the train and the Queen ??
Interesting video but the title needs correcting. The Queen is HM - Her Majesty, not HRH - Her Royal Highness.
Keith Alexander wrong, it is Her Royal Highness the Majesty The Queen

Wonder what the train's inside's like
Felice Graziano Very simply furnished. Comfortable in a 1970s way.
That's a shame. I'd demand a rolling Buckingham Palace :-)
Felice Graziano Most people would I suppose, but as The Queen has that already, she wanted something less gilt laden.
What a nice day to film there! What would've made it cooler, was a steam locomotive!
Quite agree, but the Royal Train always has 2 locos, to ensure there's no failure and for the Queens safety and security as she tours the country
Why shame Billy ??

Now THAT is one gorgeous train. I'm lost in all the pomp, curtsy and ceremony, seems pretty damn silly, but the train, perfect, spotlessly clean. Is it really necessary to utilize so many cars for a couple of 90 year old folks? I'm happy I'm not paying the bill.

You silly pommie you are paying the bill, those people have never worked a productive day in their lives, when will you figure that out.good grief.
They bring more revenue into the UK than any President/Prime Minister would achieve
if that's the case then let the tourist board pay the bill and not the taxpayer its about £ 350millon on the last audit per year
