Hiking through the Sacred Forests | FORESTE CASENTINESI

In June 2024 I walked 60 km through the Foreste Casentinesi National Park, in the central Italian Apennines.
These lush forests are called 'sacred' because over the centuries they have been cared for and protected by monks who lived in the many monasteries and hermitages scattered throughout the park area. There are many centuries-old trees that inhabit these forests, making this National Park one of the most evocative and magical place in the entire country.
