Fender Jim Root Jazzmaster Demo || A Metal Jazzmaster? How Is This Guitar Not More Popular?!

- You guys voted for this one on Twitter, and honestly I'm really surprised I like it this much. The Fender Jim Root Signature Jazzmaster is a metal-fied take on a classic shape and it is just awesome. The minimalistic flat black look with brushed chrome EMGs, the low-action, the ebony fingerboard with jumbo frets, all of it just works so well together. It has to be one of my favorite guitars that I've demoed. Returning this one to Sam Ash was pretty sad. And OMGROFLBBQ I played a solo in this one.

Fender Jim Root Jazzmaster Demo || How Is This Guitar Not More Popular?? - Hudba
Jim Root is a class act, all his signature stuff is fucking awesome
Even his Squier models are fucking sic(k)
I love the fact that this guitar isn‘t just a metal guitar as you can see in the demo video of Jim himself on the Fender CZcams chanel. This Jazzmaster has a very smooth even jazzy clean sound too. Its just perfect
wow man ive been following you since the beginning and it is awesome watching you grow and improve. your material is amazing and i loved the solo. easily my favorite demo youve done. keep it up bro.
thanks for sticking around man :)
Love this guitar!!! Never thought I would want something like that man!! Thanks for the awesome reviews!!
So sick! Because of this review I had to buy this amazing guitar! Thanks agufish! Keep up the great reviews!
You make great videos. Really like the tones you got for the Jazzmaster as well.
Went from fluffs basic riffs not hearing the guitars full potential to this!! Thank you. I was thinking of buying it and now I am
Now you should review the Jim Root telecaster!!
nice demo dude! I feel like I've been searching for a proper demo for a while for this guitar.
+Paul Sayed yeah I'm really surprised there isn't more content on any of the Jim Root guitars. Honestly, I didn't think I'd like it at all and I love it.
With ebony fret boards the more you play the smoother and blacker they get.
HabitualOffender007 thats why i LOVE ebony
Damn dude. I really liked that demo song. Good work!
This really is an awesome channel. Your playing is great, the video quality is fantastic too. I'm subbed as fuark
Hunter great riffage. I love the solo section. Keep making videos.
Excellent review!!!!Thanks🙌
Dammit! Every time you demo one of these guitars I'm like "I'm going to make that my next guitar!"... and then you crank out another one of these and make me want to get this guitar. Keep up the good work! I've been spreading your channel around, bro. I hope it increases your subs. You deserve it.
Lol, sorry not sorry? And thanks for the support man, it really means a lot :)
Hunter, nice meeting you at NAMM man! Keep up the great work!
Nice guitar and I enjoyed your playing. The case opening bit was funny :D
Yeaaaaah! 👍emg pickups are great. Just look at how many famous players use them. Sounds great on recordings too
Bro you have such killer videos!!!! Subscribed!!
Love your demos!!!!!!
thnx bb :)
I absolutely love that a metal monster like that also has a really nice clean tone. The level of diversity in the tonal options is great.
EMGs are more versatile than most people give them credit for... the Internet has some sort of crusade against them lol.
Agufish Definitely. I think there's also a lot of people who just don't know how to properly dial in a tone with them.
Thanks for all the close shots ! I just ordered one without trying it. I only tried the Strat version which have the same specs except for the body. I’ve been watching this videos almost everyday since last week cause it’s kind of the closest I can be to the guitar 😂 nice review and thanks for all the detailed infos 🤘🏼 will let you know how I like it when I get it. Keep rockin and yes, I subscribed ! :) great videos ! From Quebec,Canada
So, how was the guitar? Give us the 5-year review!!!
awesome stuff! keep it up!
Hey man just subscribed!! you make great videos. Rock on!!
I normally play an epiphone les Paul custom pro but I’m very interested in the Jim root signature. Thank you for this video.
I can't wait to hear you demo the 2020 JR Jazzmaster.
Good Lord it's just so brutal. I was not expecting that clean sound too.
\m/ !!
Bro! The intro song is so fucking sick! That riff!!!!
Excellent song, and brutal riff!!
Thanks dude!
Kick ass song man, I play this song all the time for the riff...
hater trolls man. this guys is well spoken fast and to the point and seems like honest reviews. what more cud u want when checking out gear your curious about.
Not going to lie I’ve watched your channel for quite some time now and I gotta say this is the first video EVER to make me like the sound of emgs! I personally only love the sound of passive pickups but this video actually change my mind about emg pickups thank you. Anyways big fender fan any chance you would cover a video of fender mustang the shell pink with a pau Ferro fretboard? It’s a nice small body with a short scale neck with two single coil pickups and a hardtail bridge. Also if you had to choose between a Jim root jazzmaster or the Epiphone Matt heafy snowfall 7 string, which would you choose?
Great demo again, if it's available could you try out the new Jackson Marty Friedman Signature?
Great Channel man I know you gnna keep rocking out he subs, guitars and musical equipment etc music related.
Appreciate the support man! \m/
that solo thO ! f-ing sick!
Are you son of Idubbbz and Stevie T?
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought he resembled Steve.
Rafael Gutierrez when I first clicked on the video I thought it was Stevie T
HAHAHAAHAHAJAJ
Sweet guitbox. Love the look, even the 'off' color headstock and the old school volume pot, the plastic pickup rings are the only thing that looks cheap. overall a 'less is more' style guitar that i dig.
4:20 he made us look
I've been waiting the whole week for this demo. FYI You made me buy the ltd bk600. Hope you're happy.
+Jinhong hahaha! Looks like the professional unboxing hype worked. And about the BK-600, you're welcome? :D
Very nice!
Nice review, never had a interest in a JazzMaster until now.
I thought during the slow breakdown solo part of the song, the clean and solo tones sounded exactly like the tones from Master of Puppets. Awesome!
i love this guitar and thank you from the help off this vidio...........btw you got a fan from norway:)
Love your riffs and compositions. Any ideas for your own Album?
badass song man
thanks dude!
the tune your playing is so metal
Does the feel and sound is similar to the Telecaster Jim Root? Or both guitars are completly different?
I own the Jim Root Jazzmaster, Strat and Tele. Really love their tone. I did swap out the pickups on the Strat to BKP's but actually really enjoyed the EMG's and I'm a huge passive guy and Les Paul lover. I highly recommend them. Nice work reviewing as always.
Gah so jealous dude. How are the other two compared to the Jazzmaster in terms of feel?
I keep the Jazzmaster tuned in C, the Tele in Db with EMG 57/66 and the Strat with BKP Mule/Nailbomb in Eb. So all different sounds. The Jazzmaster is probably my favourite in terms of tone. The Strat has always sounded really natural and Tele has a sharper sound. Feel is similar I reckon.
Honestly with how much I loved the Jazzmaster I might end up buying the Tele if they feel similar and I can find a good deal on a used one. Thanks for the insight dude :)
Agufish the JR Jazz and Strat are made in the US but the Tele is made in Mexico. So you could argue a slight difference in feel and build quality but I think they're do great. I say get one man!
@@Melonos if you are to own one of Jim’s signature which one would it be? In terms of playability. Thank you.
Love this guitar
I have an jim root strat and it's a killer guitar!
Question: I also have the Dual Rectifier. Which channel did you use for this demo. (Thanks for including the settings in the description.)
What were you playing at 2:10? Sounded absolutely amazing!
I read about EMG before I own one. So many bad comment for that brand. After I own a guitar with EMG 81-85, I don't think it's a bad pickup. It sounds incredible with distortion and quite good for clean. The only drawback is I can't get a good overdrive sound from it.
This guitar looks so awesome xd And sounds awesome as well :P I don't think any store in my city has one but I will have to try one someday. I am quite curious if it would sound somewhat similar if I put some emgs into my 2002 HSS Fender Strat. Its body is made out of Ash and it has maple neck and fingerboard but emgs should give me some brutal tones anyways I think :P
With the tuning....is the guitar primarily designed for drop B tuning ?
Jim plays it in drop B tuning, but does that restrict the gauge of strings you need to play that low.
And if you wind it up to standard tuning, how does it feel with a clean tone versus your normal Jazzmaster Fender glassy tone. It would be nice to hear the clean tones and what you think of them.
If you all want a much cheaper option, check out the Charvel SK models. Same shape, active emgs, one volume knob, and one toggle switch. But a 3rd if not less of the price of this. One of my favorite guitars I own. Picked one up for 200 bucks used.
Should be called the METALmaster
+Dhruv Kotecha should be... And in all caps too lol
Agufish Could you please do some jackson guitars
Possibly. Was never really a fan of Jackson, but after playing this Fender my mind is more open haha!
Go for the new mick Thompson or coreys from trivium :)
WOW! THAT IS SUCH INTUITIVE THINKING!!!111
Cool guitar! What's the finish on the back of the neck like?
That solo 😍
Lol I don't solo often, but when I do I make sure it serves the song :)
I have the Strat version what also seems to be kinda no popular. There are like no reviews out there and barely any videos using it. I swapped the 81/60 for a JH set. My fretboard is also not uniform black and I really like it that way! I like to see some grain!
Wow. Just wow.
I have the Jim root jazz master coming this week
Have you reviewed the ESP Jeff Hanneman guitar?
I ditched Fender and Gibby's years ago but played some cat's Root Tele one night and was ordering it that weekend. It is absolutely my favorite guitar to play and the quality is fantastic. Sold a Nuno N27 and an EC1000 to help ease the sting. I would have never paid 1000 for a MIM guitar much less a TELE, if I had not played one already. The impression it left on me lingered for days until I pulled the trigger and haven't even slightly regretted it. And not to mention the case that comes with it that is a very beautiful one at that. The EC's are great guitars but there is no comparison between the two. Now any other Fender "other than the iconics such as the SRV or Eric Johnson", they have all really dropped in quality. And dont get me started on the mid range Gibby's. I know not everyone will agree but if your on the fence about these Root models, I can vouch for the Tele....
Do you think the american ultra jazzmaster with it's new noisless pickups and the s1 switch can play metal?
Killer riff...dug the solo at 2:20.. first Fender ive liked...
i bought the bk 600 now im gonna have to get this one as well...great lol awesome solo btw!
+James Parker lol oh no, you'll be the proud owner of two fucking awesome guitars? :P
Agufish oh dont get me wrong i would love to have both but my wallet would disagree. eventually..... eventually
I have his strat, Just my fav guitar of all times :D
would you mind doing a review of some of the lower end ltd models like the ec10 or m10 ?
Is anyone else bothered by the volume knob placement. I get why JIm wants it there. But I'd be bumpin that thing all the time. Other than that, that thing is sweet.
P.S. once again, chops are on point brother. Keep up the great work.
Two years later but, yup! It is pretty annoying on the tele.
Oh big time dude. Telecaster has the same problem for me 🤣
I've got this guitar. Also had the tele but parted with it as it didn't live up to the jazzmaster. Great review bro! Should mention this is my only non- singlecut guitar in my collection. only issue i have with it is the neck needs constant adjustment which is a bit frustrating but it doesn't feel like any other guitar that I've ever played so definitely worth checking it out if your thinking about buying one.
Ah for real? I was interested in checking out the tele too. I've heard it felt similar to the Jazzmaster, just cheaper because it's made in Mexico and not the US.
Agufish it was still a great guitar, different feel in my opinion. Its a 12" radius as opposed to a compound on the jazz and very neck heavy when standing up. It sounded better but it just wasn't for me. I have friends that loved it and i totally get its appeal but i was wanting something else and decided the jazzmaster was tje one to keep. In saying that though i don't really play the jazzmaster much anymore. when i first got it i couldn't put it down but i guess I'm just more comfortable on a singlecut. I'd say if you like the jazzmaster you'll like the tele but it felt very different to me.
what if this beautiful Jazzmaster equipped with Nocaster neck? Does it thicker at the 22 frets?
So, Hunter, you are a metal guy, and like active pickups, which means you like dead silence. Did you ever think about trying Lace Sensor? they are very quiet, and the red Lace Sensor is defiantly a metal high out put pickups. Also you can try the dually red as well!
Well I'm definitely becoming more open to fenders. Still can't stand strats, don't know why lol. But yeah, another great vid Mr. Fish Hunter 🤘🏽👍🏽 ever think about trying the John 5 Tele?
havent checked this one out yet but I did get a used Fender JR Tele and one of his Strats as well. paid about $800 each. was nice to not pay full price considering how well kept they were used.
I bought the White mexican version because it has the EMG Jim Root Daemonum Set. Totally worth it. They sound great and I also prefer that the mexican version has block inlays. Plus you don't need the tone knob. The single knob is super responsive
can you make a video to compare Jim root Jazzmaster, Telecaster, and Stratocaster
and as you demoed Jim Root Tele and Jazzmaster, which one do you think is better?
hey, man. I love Jim Root's models. good god! I specially dream of this baby right there. unrelated question: do you play in a band? I'm kinda curious to see what kind of music you make (apart from demo song). anyway, keep up the good work.
Hey dude! I don't play in a band anymore, but I recently did a demo of a 2017 Gibson SG Standard T where I re-did one of my old band's song with our singer for a full band demo mix: czcams.com/video/nSJ56LU_Qc8/video.html
I'd have preferred a demo of the guitar as is, not in a produced track, maybe even some cleans to see what it's capable of. I'm planning on getting a Jazzmaster but I think I'll start with the Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH and put some SD Black Winter in it for the ultimate metal guitar!
Hey man! Great videos all very helpfull. Can you please do a review video to the epiphone les paul custom pro? Thanks
possibly... it's not a very highly requested model, but I will be doing another Twitter poll to choose what gear to demo, so it might be an option :)
this guitar sounds great.
FYI, most ebony is actually not uniformly colored and has brown streaks through it. Most ebony used for fretboards is dyed black.
Would u recommend this or ibanez iron labe asb?
That demo track was fuckin killer....
Criticizing ebony fretboards as not being uniform in darkness should be a thing of the past. I recommend that you go watch some videos about ebony and how it is obtained for guitars.....Bob Taylor interviews on the topic would be a good place to start.
+blackfrancis55 thanks. About 83737262 people linked me to that video the day this went up. I am now more informed lol
my dream guitar
Dude, how do you set up these drum patterns ?
Just got mine yesterday pretty cool guitar in my opinion.
+_Jeremy718 ahhh you actually own one? So jealous...
After your unboxing, I just had to get one lols
Oh my god you have to be joking lol...
Agufish I'm so serious bro lols Check out my IG 718_jeremy_305
Cool video, thank you for sharing. Can ask you what kind of software you use to edit your videos ?
Adobe Premiere, sometimes Final Cut if I Adobe decides not to load up lol
Great review!! I like his other models but have been wanting this one bad. No pro just a I home player with a small collection. Best looking Jazzmaster. What will you do with her, are you gong to keep it?
If I had the money I would keep it in an instant. Besides my ESP Eclipse-II this is just about my favorite guitar that I've played.
the Jazzmaster is my bae!! and Jim root is fucking amazing so this just fits so perfectly
will u make a vid on the new jr jazzmaster?
AGUFISH I just ordered this guitar with ernie ball mammoth slinkys 12-62. Will they fit in the tuners?
Oof, I’m not sure. That’s a hefty gauge. Cody from Wage War probably uses a similar gauge, but he might have had to drill them out a bit since Fender tuners aren’t usually tasked with massive strings. Let me know how it goes, I’m pretty curious
Sweet demo man! Been waiting for it since you announced it. Any chance you'll do the Jim Root Telecaster? I know it's basically the same spec wise but just a Tele body though... Haha \m/\m/
I might... if it's the same feeling guitar but 300 dollars less? I'm all for it haha. It'll probably be an option on the next Twitter poll.
Agufish did the tele fail in the poll? :(
It's my dream guitar!
keep up the good work man! love your videos! greetings from the Netherlands.
Ive owned all 3 of the signatures and the only one i still have is the Tele.
Tryna decide between this or the Jim Root strat
I play a jazzmaster in a doom style. Works great. Love it.
The jazz master of heavy metal
I kinda like it, and I wish Fender would bring back the flathead guitars!
1 word
coooooool
Hey man, what tuning do you tend to use for these covers? or at least for this one in particular. Keep up the good work man, love these videos.
Covers? They're original songs bruh. For this one I'm using Drop Db, but I use everything from Drop D to Drop A, depending on what sounds best with the riffs.
Agufish Ah shit, I know damn well they aren't covers. That was my bad, used the wrong word. thanks for the reply brother!
Lol no problem man. :)
