We just love you Tim!
Enjoy your videos. Any problems with milk fever. I know at one time Jerseys were prone to it but things do change. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
Thank you Kevin. We have not had any issues with our cows as far as milk fever is concerned. I did have one of them looking overly exhausted right after birth so I gave her a calcium supplement right after birthing and she perked right up. Milk fever is mainly due to a lack of the necessary calcium. Supplement them calcium and it really helps to prevent this.
@@OurFruitfulFamily OK Sounds good...Am currently looking for a place in the country and one of the livestock on my list will be 1 or 2 family cows. Thanks for your info.
@@kl1958 I highly recommend a milk cow! The food it provides for the homestead is amazing.
If you please the fresh cow milk more healthy than ready milk great job
It is much more healthy in my opinion!
Lots of valuable information! How many acres would you recommend for a jersey cow?
Hey! One cow per acre is recommended!
This is HIGHLY dependent on your area though!
@@bigstarsfarm91 you are very much correct. This assumes fair to good pasture. Among many other factor. It’s just an estimate.
Great to hear bro that u are raising them only for milk not kill. I'm from India and we have local breeds which are available free in my village bcz beef is banned here. I planning to do dairy only for milk on bigger level can you guide me for food for them that I can grow cheaply in our land in northern middle part of India.
How to do supplements etc, any study material please suggest relevant to native white cows of my area.
To be completely honest, I’m probably not the best person to give you advice on what grasses to grow in your region. I would be looking it up and studying just like you to find that answer. I do not have enough experience, especially in your part of the world to know what does best there!
Whoa! We paid $155 for a small round bale and $265 (I think) for the big ones!
Holy cow!
You didn’t really say how much grass or hay bales you feed per day. We have small square bales
I couldn’t really tell you how much grass they eat per day haha.4-6 cows grazing on pasture all day. They always have access to pasture grass. As far as hay, depends on the time of year and how much rain ect… winter, they have winter grass they graze on. Between 6 cows last winter, 1 round bale every week and a half. Right now, I have 4 full grown cows. Scorching heat sent most grass dormant. They still find stuff to graze on but mostly eating hay. 4 cows taking 2.5 weeks on a round bale. I hope this helps. God bless you!
How many gallons do you get per Cow? God bless
Depending on where they are in their lactation and how old the calf Drinking on them is, usually 2-2.5 gallons with calf sharing and once a day milking. God bless you as well!!!
