- During his career, Alexander Emelianenko has repeatedly fight versus real huge opponents. And today we will tell you about one such fight, about which the fans in our country have almost never heard. After all, it took place away from the world's leading arenas of mixed martial arts.
This fight took place on October 19, 2007 at the Canadian Hardcore Championship Fighting tournament. It turns out that there was such a promotion abroad, which appeared almost 14 years before the appearance in Russia of tournaments with a similar name.
In the main fight of the evening, Alexander Emelianenko met with a 150-pound American fighter Dan Bobish. While at university, Dan won the national wrestling championship, after which he worked as a bodyguard and was a sparring partner of Mike Tyson. Since 1996, he has competed in mixed martial arts, fought in UFC and Pride tournaments, and also won the King of the Cage title.

Ден Боббиш кроме устрашающего веса в активе мало что имел. Он даже будучи молодым проигрывал буквально всем более-менее именитым мма-шникам: Гудриджу, Ханту, я уже умолчу о топах вроде Ранделмана или Керра. Побеждал он каких-то нонеймов. С Емельяненко он дрался уже возрастным, это его последний бой. Выиграть у такого возрастного (37 лет) мешкобоя, не много чести. Тем более, молодой Александр Емельяненко сам был тогда очень хорош.
Is it just me, or are Russian/Slavic fighters absolutely dominating these days? Yes, I know this particular fight was a decade and a half ago, but really, when you look at the dominant fighters in MMA, and the up-and comers, as well as boxing even, the number of impressive Russian/Slavic fighters is off the charts. Especially when you compare population relative to the sport.

What impressed me yet again is how ridiculously naturally strong Fedor and Alex were,Bobish should have rag dolled Alex yet he couldn't further both brothers are pretty quick yet they have decievingly heavy hands
That and their ability to withstand damage. Neither were afraid to get hit (or slammed on their head 😂) and would just keep going.

As a Canadian, I remember when this event happened. It was during the period when there was a lot of talk regarding Alexs' criminal history..and this fight answered a lot of those questions, as Canadian is extremely hard to get into if you have ANY type of record. So at this point, any type of criminal convictions Alexs might have had had to have happened when he was a juvenile. People with DUI convictions from 30 years ago get turned away at the Canadian border. Although, if you want to move here and become a permanent resident, Canada would freaking let Sadam Housain in.... Our immigration is absolutely out of control.
