For that distance, level of comfort and amenities, that price is one heck of a bargain!
One month ago I travelled with them from Vienna to Budapest (new route) in a 2+1 low cost carriage. It was an excellent journey, more than 2,5 hrs for just 8,80 EUR, seat reservation included! The 2+1 low cost coaches are former DB 1st class coaches, the normal standard class coaches are former ÖBB 2nd class coaches and the relax/business class coaches are former ÖBB 1st class coaches.
How can anyone watching a beautiful train ride give a thumbs down 🤷🏽♂️
Outside of a few regional trains in England I have only ridden on Amtrak, and that has always been long distance. Your channel is a great way to visit completely different places on the most interesting rail lines. I really enjoy the opportunity. 😁
James Thompson maybe next year you will sample some European trains
Glad you're enjoying 😁
@@s125ish Do you think Americans will be welcomed back?
I've never seen such cheap food on a train. I'm used to sweden where food is really expensive aboard trains.
That second class coach you travelled in looked fine, and would have been similar to first class on many other services.
Regiojet Relax class. High speed? No. Super luxury? No. Simply good. What more do you need? Enjoy the landscape, enjoy your meal. Relax. It's train travel as it's supposed to be.
Great video! Nice to see my home-based carrier! Relax is my favorite class on RegioJet trains and btw. seat 56 is my most common seat :-D It's a pity I didn't meet you on a train, I traveled with RegioJet quite often between Prague and Vienna..
Thanks! You're luck to have a company like RegioJet right on your doorstep.
20€ is quite a lot for a domestic trip in the Czech Republic. I think the highest I ever paid was around 8€ lol.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Picture sound and editing are first rate. The trains look great and seem so quiet and smooth. I wish I could travel in that part of the world. Lastly, I saw no litter, n I graffiti anywhere with beautiful scenery. Thank You so much. I am hooked on your videos.
Glad you enjoyed!
I haven't noticed any graffiti in the train stations. Only in America.
That low cost carriage looks like a very old German first class carriage.
Yeap, it used to be indeed - www.vagonweb.cz/fotogalerie/D/DB_Apmz125.php .
That is not a standard low-cost carrige. The seats in Regio-Jets low cost are usualy in 2+2 configuration, very narrow and unconfortable and with limited legroom. I would always recomend at least standard, or competing Ceske Drahy service.
Well Old, but not unlike some still in service for the IC trains.
RegioJet certainly provides excellent seats and service for the price! Amazing to have two meal services during a 3+ hour trip. It’s just as well the food is wrapped and delivered to the passengers at their seats. A cafe car wouldn’t be the safest option during a pandemic. The countryside was lovely and peaceful, but for those who find it less than enchanting, entertainment was available on screens or mobile phones. If I was grading, I’d give RegioJet an A+. Thanks, Dylan!
Except there was no water pressure or soap in the bathroom which is bad during a pandemic when washing your hands is really important.
It's so cool that you can look out of the back on a lot of these trains
That's something that's denied to us in the UK! The only locomotive hauled trains in the UK are the Nova3 used by Trans Pennine Express and they have a Driving Van Trailer at the other end of the train. And fairly certain you can't see the locomotive from inside as the end vestibule is for staff only
You summed up perfectly why I love train travel so much -- you can sit and watch the world go by.
Your second class seat seems a great deal for less than 20 Euros. Comfy looking, wide seat and the food looked quite good and extremely reasonable!
The rotunda at the station in Prague was absolutely gorgeous.
Really enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing, Dylan. Stay safe and see you on Monday!
Glad you enjoyed 😁
I wish rail travel was more common in the US, all of your videos look like a lot of fun
The reason it's not is because rich Americans have their money in oil stocks and think Amtrak is a competitor of planes and cars. They elect people who will protect their bottom line which excludes trains.
Massive fan of RegioJet. I often had to go to Czechia for work at my last job, and they're a fantastic service. Nice to get free refreshments for a train journey and coffee was always excellent quality.
I couldn't get over how cheap the RJ tickets always were - I could get a trip from Bratislava to Brno for a fiver. In Dublin, it costs me 6.75Euro return from my local DART station to the city centre 10 miles away and there certainly aren't any freebies! :)
I was all psyched up to say "if it's a 2+1 layout in low cost, I'll take that", and then you mentioned the price! I think if they're all similarly low like that I'd be tempted to get 1st class and have a nice little compartment!
Food prices look great too - thanks for the ride!
Have to say, that trip looks amazing and well done to the operator. Would definately travel the same class as you did looking at the seat, service and train.
I used Regiojet to travel from Brno to Prague a few years ago. The prices are excellent (7-8€ for the cheapest class) and they offer tea for free even if you don't order anything else. I would also recommend them for bus travelling (Prague-Warsaw for 12(!)€ and the crew brings you drinks for free too. The only inconvenience is, as mentioned, that WiFi wasn't the best on the bus. Otherwise very enjoyable rides.
As a Czech who travels between Prague and Zábřeh, I think Regiojet and Relax class is the best choice. Business is little bit overpriced, as you dont get much more than at the relax class (unless the privacy), and when you catch good deal (price varies - depends on how the train is exposed - you can ride from Prague to Zábřeh for less then 10€ in Relax class (about 2h journey)
I look forward to your videos every week. Very informative and entertaining to watch. Love the fact there is no commentary or music and we just get to enjoy the experience as if we were there. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos 😁
The last coach, with the lowest fares, looks like a former 1st class intercity coach from Deutsche Bahn.
It probably is. :)
I took the train from Prague to Kutna Hora in 2017. Our train was much much older than this. Definitely felt like a Czechoslovakian throwback.
The express line from Prague to Brno via Kutna Hora is the worst line in the Czech Republic. The disgrace of Czech railways.
Another good Czech train! You asked for comments about what class one would travel in: Length of journey is a big factor. A short trip needn't be first class unless there is a particular amenity you would want. Today one must also factor in health issues. I've noticed in your recent travels that when you travel first class there are generally very few other people in the car. On one video very recently, I began to think that hardly anybody was travelling these days and then you went into the coach class car and it was packed 2 + 2 across. For that reason I'd opt for the higher class seat. I don't know about First Class in a compartment with three others, however because it is more confined. In this case your 2nd class ticket was the optimal choice.
The main advantage of the compartment 1st class is when you're travelling with at least two other people, then you'll most likely have a coupé for yourself and therefore a privacy. I like Astra (2+2) coaches the most - I don't really care about the other passenger as long as I have the window seat. The on-seat delivery is there, the leather cover too and usually the coach is quiet because most pax use the entertaiment screens with their headphones.
GReat work...True rail therapy
Two years ago I travelled several times with RegioJet on several lines and connections. Very nice staff and excellent service in Relax class! Greetings from the Netherlands that is missing this brand of long distance trains by Arie Bert Versteeg;-)
hey you have to be one of the most travelled guys i know good on ya keep it goin i love your travels cheers mate
Your travel reports are extremely interesting and very professionally done. Thank you for the work you put into it.
Am I reading the menu right?! A 1 euro croissant? A 40 cents euro cake slice? What the heck?
Regiojet is direct distributor and they sell everything in Train with small/no margin.
Ik right! Only time I've gone back for seconds when the food isn't complimentary!
Yes, and good Italian coffee for free on top of it! 😍
@@jamaha Also fresh apple juice, water and tea.
That train is very nice especially the astra coach with the entertainment screens and at seat meal service? Very great and the whole train is very nice and for only a little more than €19 it's definitely a bargain ( UK railway companies take note)
Thanks for this great insight into Regiojet and Czechoslovakia. The interior of the train is so superior to anything I have experienced in regional travel in Australia. Obviously great value for money and the at seat catering service is a really good feature. The meal portions are a little light on for my appetite (like airline meals) but considering its all done on an at seat basis, it satisfies. The sad part of the video is the realisation that we'll be wearing facemasks on public transport worldwide for some time into the future. Thanks again and stay healthy and safe.
It's not Czechoslovakia anymore
@@violin3394 ....28 years already.
Nice train. Unfortunately, I will not be coming to the C. Republic anytime soon. For a three hour trip, they sure keep you full.
another great relaxing video. Keep up the great work Dylan.
Thanks, will do!
Really nice clean station
Once again beautiful train ride and a bargain l love looking out the window at countryside l love the outside Orange color of the train outside easy to find. Food looked good.
Another excellent report, Dylan! Thank you!
Thanks!
Really good video, and quite interesting to see operators from other countries
Great video, thank you !👍
Can't believe you are able to travel around Europe so freely during these times. Our movements in Thailand/SE Asia are severely restricted. But then again we've only had a total 59 Covid deaths in Thailand. Compared to the thousands in Europe. I wonder who is right? Nice video though.
Thanks! all the best.
People in Europe have a tendency to take government regulations as mere recommendations (with great differences between countries, mind). This has its advantages, so abuse of power is very difficult, but also its disadvantages.
In general, countries try to strike a balance between trying to curb the spread of the virus, and keeping the country (and the economy) running. Bear in mind that borders in Europe are largely a thing of the past, and closing them has severe economic repercussions. But things are spiralling out of control all over Europe again, so expect stricter restrictions soon.
Hi Dylan Excellent video!!!! I enjoyedvery much!!
Thanks!
Great Video! The compartments you have shown (the ones with the blue seats and the ones with the black leather) are the same as the ones you find on ÖBB Intercity/Eurocity trains. As you mentioned the oldest carriages were sold to Regiojet.
Nice service on a well maintained coach, food service and all at a good price - nice video too
Said it before - I'm quite envious of rail travel in Europe - this is 100X nicer than some sardine can commuter jet or dirty bus.
Amtrak is nice, but it's on life support - what a shame for a national treasure, the once great rail service we had in the USA.
Another great video. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed 😁
Nice one, you even managed to get a couple of bikes in shot when walking through the station. Great attention to detail.
Lets make the 50K subscriber special happen before the end of this year as Dylan absolutely deserves it as this year has being particularly difficult for travel vloggers. If the borders fully open up for international travel plus that the price is super reasonable on RegioJet I'll prefer to travel in Business Class.
Really good video Dylan! I'd definitely travel with RegioJet. The second class looks really comfortable with good value food. Looking forward to your next upload.
Thanks!
Dylan, forgive me for missing you yesterday. It was almost 80°F here, and I spent the day at the ⛱.
The Czech Republic looks like the travel bargain of Europe. I think I would opt for the same class that you did. Always enjoy your videos. Hope to see you here in Connecticut, coastal New England.
Thanks! Hope to be back to the USA soon!
I've experienced a ride in the Astra coach once, and there's a small problem with them. If you have the old OS on the tablet, then you can't watch CZcams as it's not compatible with that OS. But like 98% of the Astra coaches have updated tablets and CZcams is available on them as an app.
I'd go for the same class..just because of the comfy seat
Great video 👍
Great video !!
Thanks!
i recommend the budapest - Prague route with regio jet or české dráhy its a very nice route for a good price
Excellent video
Thanks!
It is old "České dráhy" train, just with different color and new interior. Technically, students have 75% discound on 2nd class in all trains across the whole Czech republic and to be honest, this is for us (students) best way to travel. Great food and even delicious for good price even for us. RegioJet trains in Relax class are the best and if I can, I travel only with them.
Definitely Relax Class for me. And wow, a 3 hour trip with two food services ? Very good looking food, too. Comfortable seating, 2 + 1 to boot, and the price was excellent. I'm going to check your other video to see if the government's trains are as good. The scenery was rather bland but that you can't change. So some train personnel spoke English ? And the menu in different languages; this company deserves a Michelin star !!
In Europe, there's usually at least one member of staff that speaks English as it's more or less the 2nd language of a lot of European countries.
Some familiar seats there! Those Astra seats seem very similar to DB's 1st class IC/ICE seats, and those Relax class seats look the same as the Dutch Koploper and loco-hauled (ICR) 1st class seats.
the sushi looked great, and lots for the price
Nice and informative👍 watching from India🇮🇳
Thanks 😁
Great price, and looks like one to add to my list! I wassueprised to see more than a few people without masks. From what I understand Czech Republic has a strict mask policy.
What a great service. I'd still prefer to travel by loco-hauled services like this, even if they aren't as efficient as modern EMUs. Mad prices on the food as well - I forgot how cheap things are there!
Omg i want to go to Prague soo bad ...its on my bucket list
Great video
Thanks!
Great thing about your videos, I can eat my Fritos without having to worry about audio.
Looking forward to the sleeper video.
10:21 looks like wagon used by the German Railways
Thanks, Dylan! You always make us nice nice videos. Otherwise, of course, to travel, I like the duos opposite or the duos side by side. I don't like compartments. Otherwise, I like all kinds of trains, especially night trains. Thank you !
I always think open saloon seating makes much more sense for solo travellers (especially if the train is busy.)
I think you are 100% right.
Nice video
Wonderful Compilation. Just a suggestion that if you could capture more scenery in beautiful European countryside
I agree. I'm always straining my neck to look out the train window to see the scenery in your videos!
About the Low-Cost coach: they used to have some old Swiss regional coaches with awful seating for this class. As these cars were pushed onto the public service Rychlik line Brno - Bohumin from December 2019, they bought some second hand ex-TEE 1st class (!!!) coaches from DB to fill the gap. They must be the most comfortable low-cost service at all. (Flixtrain, watch and learn! :) )
In your last video from PKP EIP service you meant the confusing Polish way of labelling the platform and tracks. Have you noticed that the Czech way is even more confusing? :)
The Czech way of labelling tracks is like this: Through tracks are numbered 1 and 2, tracks to the side of the station adjacent to track 1 are odd-numbered, on the other side even-numbered. So, in a station with 12 tracks and the through tracks in the middle, it'd look like this:
11 9 7 5 3 1 2 4 6 8 10 12
I can't say I noticed.
@@DylansTravelReports How are platforms numbered in Poland? Was supposed to be going to Slovakia but now that's on the UK quarantine list I've transferred flights etc to Poland. Fingers crossed that doesn't go on the q********e list........🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Also, just a heads up: If you are a student based within the EU and have an ISIC card, you can travel within the Czech Republic with a huge discount (70% I think). The travel you took costs me about 100 czk if I'm not wrong (4€).
Nice video! RegioJet can offer quite the comfort, all for at least £18! Bit of a shame that the Wi-Fi is not the most advanced but even there is a good journey in sight, there's normally a disadvantage. Take the AT300s for example, these trains may be a bit faster than the old but there is a slight problem like the way the table is designed as well as the seats. It's not always the most impressive but at least it's something.
I wish you spent more time in the old station area. I like what I saw ever so briefly. I hope the poor guy (that was running in the video) got his train. He sure was in a hurry.
Great trip review. Though, I'd choose to go first class.
Don't worry, I show it in more detail when I review the RegioJet sleeper.
@@DylansTravelReports I look forward to seeing it!!
Waiting eagerly for the video on the RegioJet sleeper class experience
Should have that one up sometime in the next few months 😁
Another great video! I'd opt for a meal in a restaurant near the station though, rather than on board service. BTW I've never seen the purpose of foot rests in either trains or planes, I don't want to spend the journey with my knees in my face. Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks 😁
I'm with you on the subject of footrests - don't see the point of them
foot rests - rest for feet without shoes (the floor is dirty). I think it only works in Japan.
czcams.com/video/_MHIKtLwD8g/video.html
I hope one day you review the Bulgarian, Sofia southbound to the the Turkish border, service. Its an experience....
Hopefully when better times return 😁
If I ever get to travel on a train again it will always be first class in a quiet carriage no mobile phone usage at all for.me thank you 😊
Travelling in a quiet coach is not always a guarantee that noise will be kept low....
Great video, could you possibly to do a video on Arriva Poland (RP) trains at some point as I’ve never seen a video in English reviewing them 👍
Maybe at some point.
Dylan's Travel Reports okay thanks no rush just when you get a chance
Sushi in a train in a landlocked country PLUS Kofola, the Eastern Bloc's answer to Coke.
I was wondering what Kofola is. Is it sugary?
@@Tina-qp7py It used to be a CocaCola replacement but now it's more like a bitter, herbal and less sweet (healthier) alternative.
@@Tina-qp7py ..such better cola ;-)
I would go with relax class.
eh...lets compare that to Budapest's stations, and MAV services.. :D
7:24 Theres a pathway across the tracks. Great for getting photos from.....
The pathway is not a pathway and is restricted for station personnel only.
Dylan sir very very nice more video
Thanks!
At 10.22 this is a old German DB first class coach.
Prauge POGG
Boa viagem Dylans lindo tren gostei show boa tarde ai lindo trein amarelo show gostei da estação do trem
What do you use to edit your videos?
Hitfilm Express
Inwpikd travel in the cheapest class. I am a cheap skate and will travel in standard class over first even if first is only £1 more expensive! (Unless first class has food added in of course then first all the way!) but yeah, cheap seats and with a 2+1 config amazing value to be had!!!
Usually I am booking Relax, sometimes Business ticket. Always with sushi and cake :)
In terms of food and service, did you experience similar service somewhere else in Europe? If yes, where please?
Thanks for great videos
Honestly, this is the one and only time I've ever been able to order sushi on a train (and that includes Japan!)
It's a shame you missed the beautiful dome ceiling at Prague Station
I don't think I've ever seen a swinging door inside a train.
A fast approach into Ostrava I'll admit.
Funny that 3rd class (standard) gets seat back screens, while 2nd class (relax) has to use the spotty WiFi to access the entertainment system.
I looked at the alcohol prices and it's also crazy cheap.
Ik right 😍
Sushi & Kofola ✔️😁
What does Kofola taste like?
Tina20 There is several kinds, some of them seasonal, the regular one tastes like coke with a lot of lemon in it (in my opinion, that is). I wanted to go to CZ next week - but no, thanks to Covid 19.
@@Tina-qp7py en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kofola
I can see why you recommend them.
Jeez, their low cost class looks about on a par with UK's Crossrail first class !!
@@NonstopEurotrip Whoops, my bad, i meant Cross country.
Dylan, love the video. Just a suggestion it would be nice to hear your voice every once in a while.
I am currently disabled and living vicariously through your videos lol.
If it's possible could you possibly get a view from the engine or have one of the engineers shoot a short video while you're walking around the train shooting other video just thinking about doing a different view from the engine if possible. Either way I love the videos.
At time stamp 13:50, what kind of rail car is that you've shown while traveling on the train?
Thanks! They look like freight hoppers of some sort.
5:00 what shoes are those btw?
@@NonstopEurotrip that doesn't make sense
The more of these trips you show, the more you are demonstrating how we get 'ripped off' in Britain. Have you any plans to try the new Regiojet sleeper?
@TheRenaissanceman65 I don't think that is completely the case! The Germans have also privatised but in a different way. No matter what colour the government is, they have all regarded railways as a milk-cow.
@TheRenaissanceman65 The federal government owns DB but the services are franchised and DB has to bid for them. Plus there are also open access operators like Flix. Fares are set by tariff unions for local services, DB is in competition for long distance services and the fares are still cheap!
Yes I filmed the Regiojet sleeper a few days later so expect that video in the coming months.
I'm curious, are Standard compartment and Standard Astra same class?
yes
