    I agree with the list, especially the Maurice LaCroix. I have the dress version of that watch (Flyback Annuaire MP6098 with the Arabic numerals & silver dial) and it's a great bang per buck. It keeps fantastic time, looks great, and the Flyback plus annual calendar are great! The finishing on it great as well.

    IMO, Ball Watch Company is one of the most underrated brands. They don't garner much attention but they make some great watches and offer a tremendous value when it comes to quality for the price...I particularly enjoy my Skindiver II

    You forgot Eterna. Their Royal Kontiki GMT and Chronograph models can be had for less than 1/3 of MSRP with a real in-house movement of at least 60 hours and more than 160 years of swiss history and experience in movements. I just had the Royal Kontiki GMT and it's by far the best value with the specs anywhere.

      @zzyzxzee6374 Před 6 lety +1

      Vegan Dinner i think grand seiko is right where it belongs for asian movements and sinn is pretty god for swiss benchmark quality to pricepoint. Jmho
      If you want to stay above the inflation curve i think older rolex pre 80s dress and for newer watches orients are underrated. Consider whats going to happen to orient while they build brand tecognition and since both them and seiko owned by epson printer now i believe?
      Maybe orients may shoot up in price here in america or become the upgraded seiko brand. I just purchased the orient explorer and i was very impressed for its pricepoint. Dual time,hacking,all the upgrades including the caseback also being sapphire. Thinking about getting the mako 2.
      The thing was one second slow in 3 days out of the box...i would like to know more about seagull. I dont plan on selling anything,just build the collection. My pinnacle is the submariner two tone rolex just because but cant afford just yet. Im still on the steep edge of the learning curve...

    Federico, thank you so much for this interesting post. I really like A.Lange und Söhne and Piaget. The Altiplano in white gold (I would love to have the option of steel), is the most classy dress watch from my point of view. That with a black crocodile band. I consider gold in watches the most expensive in the world.

    Fed! Love watching your videos - keep up the great work! I've owned my Breitling Superocean Heritage 42mm for a couple years now (my first luxury watch purchase) and I'm now looking into expanding my collection. My thoughts are a JLC Ultra Thin Moon (stainless) for a dress watch followed by the Zenith EP Chronomaster for another casual sport watch (specifically the blue dial - I think it looks sick and would look amazing with a NATO). What are your thoughts? Any other recommendations?? What are your thoughts on buying these pre-owned if I can find them?

    • @coldshadow3480

  • @Claus-L.Mueller
    @Claus-L.Mueller Před 7 lety

    For me the Swatch Group brand Mido is an underestimated entry level Swiss watch brand. They have got classic design icons like the Commander I models and watches with a modern design and specially tuned ETA movements like the chronometer certified caliber 80. There are still many models under the $1,000 mark. And even the models above 1K (new) offering a lot of value for the money!

  • @federicoalvarezgarcia5602

    I can't make my mind with the Laureato, but I really agree with the rest of the video, especially with the El Primero, amazing watch and great price, and Lange, which in my humble opinion are the best major watchmaker out there. PS: I also think Glashutte Original is highly underrated, what do you think?

  • @michaelvetsch9486
    @michaelvetsch9486 Před 7 lety

    Piaget: thickness is sometimes more important than size (diameter). Thinness alone can take away from a good wrist-feeling. It's the overall 'ratio', which counts, I believe.

    I agree with your choices.. I might add the Longines Legend Diver. This watch can be dressed up or down. I do own one and wear it all the time with my shirt cuffs up or down and with a white tee. I think it's one very simple clean watch. Very deceiving as a,dive watch. Second watch is the Oris Diver. Another real nice all around sports, which as a brand doesn't get the nods from the community it should, is Oris. And my final call is Ulysses Nardin is. Another brand I own and the general public has no idea who or what I'm wearing. Another watch brand that doesn't get the press it should.
    Thanks keep these vlogs going I find them entertaining as well as informative.

  • @planetdee3587
    @planetdee3587 Před 7 lety +1

    As far as Zenith, I think the 410 is awesome. But some people cannot afford to own multiple luxury watches so if they have one choice, it is probably another brand. Also, A. Lange is in a higher tier to where most average people would not consider them. I think watch makers need to have better understanding of the market and where they should be battling. The average working man who is into watches and willing to spend 10k will always go Rolex before anything else. The average person not huge into watches but wants something nice of the wrist will probably go with Tag or Movado. Those who are rich and know little about watches will grab a Rolex, Nautalis, Royal Oak. Then comes the small population who are rich and know about watches and they will explore A. Lange and other high end brands.

    @tc11228 Před 7 lety

    I agree with Christin about the Girard-Perregaux Laureato. The ML, at that price, cannot be beaten. I like the Zenith and agree it is getting much more publicity. Not a Piaget fan but like the PoloS. People flock to pilot or sports watches. Lange's sweetspot is the dress watch area. The Lange Grande 1 and the Zeitwerk are both amazing horological pieces but would not get enough wrist-time to prioritize over other wishlist items.
    Strangely, I think Vacheron is under appreciated in the US - especially for a Holy Trinity brand. I rarely if ever see anyone in the groups sporting one. Also, there are 3 variants so you can get a good price. I agree with your recent video on Breguet, it is under-valued (loved your video). Finally, preowned JLCs are low enough for more people to own them and they do not. Strange.

Really seems like (not to put words into peoples' mouths) Fed is sorta laughing at the situation and is with us - seeing the humor in so much drama over watches. Sad to see because I really enjoy the content both put out. I'll just wait to see what Fed says about it. I like the Maurice Lacroix Annual calendar Flyback. The Piaget Altiplano is to thin and fragile for me.

    If Lange is underrated, then JLC is too. Great history, probably the best movement maker, greatest contributions in horology( more than 2000 patents). Complete collection ( from JLC Master's at 5000 $ to grand complications, tourbillons, and perps over a million ).

    I'd put there also Chopard LUC line. You can find LUC Sport models around or even under 3k€ if you search on the web. If one likes the styling, i think they are really hard to beat in terms of quality and movement level.
