    I always put a little anti-seize on the plug threads and some dielectric grease on the plug tips. And always change spark plugs when the engine is cold, less chance of stripping your aluminum heads this way.

    Thanks man. I almost got the spark plugs out without removing the the cowl and heat shield but the spark plug boot was rigid and an inch too long to remove. Pain in the butt but I love my si so the maintenence is satisfying. Don't get cheap when buying plugs.

    Don’t give me wrong, I’d like my car but I hate the fact that you need to remove so much stuff just to get to the valve cover or spark plugs. It’s at times like this where I miss my EM1. I miss not having to remove my windshield wipers to work on my motor

    When you are re-installing the metal Cowl shield in the engine bay, how do you prevent the bolts from falling out of your socket? Is there a magnetized feature that holds onto them?

    In my 93 Accord - plug changes were super simple.
    In my 2013 SI - my first impression they were making a bid for "hide and seek" champion of the engine bay....
    WTFix was that Honda? Still Love em, but gotta call Honda out on this one.

    Great videos man, got a 2013 Si with 70xxx on it. Any recommendations on what I should "expect" to go out around 100k? I'm thinking I should change spark plugs, Alternator, battery, get the valves adjusted and maybe the drive belts? I've only replaced fluids and changed oil/new tires and alignment. Been driving for 6k without a problem 👍🏼 loving this Civic platform.

    • @AaronShirzadi_mar5hal
      @AaronShirzadi_mar5hal  Před 6 lety +4

      Honestly if you’ve been keeping up on it I wouldn’t expect anything to just “go out”. Alternator should last. Spark plugs would be a good idea. Also if you’re getting the cowl off and doing the plugs you might as well replace the valve cover gasket and the little gaskets that go to the valve cover studs and surround the coil packs.

    • @joshuadoe9541
      @joshuadoe9541 Před 5 lety

      @@AaronShirzadi_mar5hal there is no reason to touch the valve cover gasket if they aren't leaking, check/replace the pcv if anything. Do a tb cleaning, you need a idle relearn and tps calibration after.

  • @greeneking77
    @greeneking77 Před 3 lety

    I am curious if I do not need the metal heat shield? I mean is it used to keep the engine warm and efficient or is it to block the heat from the plastic cowl. If so most hard plastics have a melting point of around 210+ F and the engine bay does not get that hot. I was hoping to save 6 pounds weight

    • @AaronShirzadi_mar5hal
      @AaronShirzadi_mar5hal  Před 3 lety +1

      I always kept it. Less heat under the cowl is probably a good thing. Especially since the little rubber line for the washer fluid is there and the wiring for the wiper trans. Plus it could help with fogging of the windshield in colder weather. Idk that last party could be bs but who knows. For 6lbs I wouldn’t worry about it

    I went to reinstall my Cowell and the corner pieces don't sit flush on the windshield. Is it a big deal if it doesn't sit flush ?

    • @AaronShirzadi_mar5hal
      @AaronShirzadi_mar5hal  Před 6 lety

      I’ve taken mine off so many times that it doesn’t sit perfectly either. If you get replacement plastic clips then it should sit flush but it doesn’t bother me that much.

    Could you provide links to the tools you used? Also, my Si is having an issue with one of the windshield nozzles not spraying. Any idea how I can fix this issue?

    • @kerrykalls7732
      @kerrykalls7732 Před 3 lety +1

      Its clogged. Don't ever use that orange rain X fluid again. It's prone to knocking deposits loose and they'll then clog the nozzle.
      Id order a new nozzle as attempting to clean such a a small hole is extremely difficult

    when it comes to changing trans fluid on a 8thgen do u have to change it everytime u change ur oil? because thats what i was told buy a guy that works at honda

    • @mikea5205
      @mikea5205 Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah just like Aaron said, once every 30K for tranny oil. At least that's what I do. I drain from the bottom and fill from the top. I have it perfected to where I don't spill a single drop of oil :)

    • @goatslayerwp
      @goatslayerwp Před 6 lety

      I do mine with a 6 dollar hand pump that screws on top of the MTF bottle. Takes 2 quarts. Always loosen the fill plug first, since you don't want to drop the fluid then find out you can't get the fill plug out. Taking the driver's tire off makes this relatively easy.
