    • @armandodelossantos736
      @armandodelossantos736 Před 7 lety +39

      Sam Sheth that's complete bullshit, Jordan did play in the 95' season for 17 regular season games which is over a month before the playoffs. That's not enough time to get into basketball shape?!? He dropped 55 on the Knicks, averaged over 30 against the Hornets in the first round, and then got his ass beat by the Magic. The same Magic team that got SWEPT by the Rockets just two series later! From 91'-93' the Rockets were 5-1 against the Bulls and that's even with a game Olajuwon got his eye bones broken by Cartwright and the Bulls still lost to the Rockets! How can Jordan be the greatest of all time yet he gets SWEPT by the 86' Celtics after dropping 63 pts in one game, but then Olajuwon takes those same Celtics to game 6 of the Finals by himself! He had Parish, McHale, Bird, Walton and the entire Celtics trying to guard him but couldn't! This was after he DOMINATED Kareem, Magic, Worthy, Scott,, Cooper, Rambis, and the Showtime Lakers in 4 straight games! Sampson got thrown out one game of the Finals and was a no show for the rest of the games yet Olajuwon lead the entire 86' playoffs in points, rebounds, and blocks in his 2nd season as a pro and he had only learned about basketball just 6 years before that!! Jordan trained his whole life in basketball yet couldn't get the tar heels to the final four without Worthy, couldn't get out the first round without Pippen, and could've never won anything if he didn't have a sidekick and a good rebounder on his team! The one year Jordan actually didn't play, Olajuwon becomes the only EVER regular season MVP, Finals MVP, and DPOY in the same season without another all star. All this Jordan ball gargling has been brainwashed into your mind since the early 90's and it was for marketing purposes! Teams that have swept Jordan, couldn't guard Olajuwon with triple teams, and teams that have beaten Jordan, Olajuwon has SWEPT! You wanna say, oh those regular season beatings Olajuwon gave Jordan don't mean anything! Well if you wanna compare playoffs performances, Olajuwon is the undisputed playoff King! It's been carefully analyzed and he's the greatest playoff performer in history! He went up against the best of the best at his position to get his wins in the playoffs and DOMINATED them all! In 95' he DOMINATED that seasons MVP David Robinson, and the league's scoring leader Shaq to get his ring in only 10 games!! If you watched the NBA back then, you would know that Olajuwon was robbed of his MVP in 93' and 95' which would've given him 3 MVP's in a row, 2 DPOY's in a row, and 2 Finals MVP's in a row! In playoffs against Kareem he averaged 31pts, 11reb, 2a, 2s, and 4b! Against Ewing in the 94' Finals he averaged 26.9pts, 9.3reb, 3.6a, 1.6s, and 3.9b!! In 95' against Robinson he averaged 35.3pts, 12.5reb, 5a, 1.3s, and 4.2b!!! In the 95' Finals against Shaq, he averaged 32.8pts, 11.5reb, 5.5a, 2s, and 2b!!!! Jordan is hype and Olajuwon is the real Goat! He did all of this and didn't even pick up a basketball until age 16! The Goat of basketball is a 6'10 soccer player from Lagos, Nigeria!

      In hindsight, it's crazy that Rockets turned that down. I'm not even factoring them being able to draft Jordan with the #2 pick. Bowie probably would have still went #2 under this scenario since they would have got Drexler in the trade as well.

      lavine8 to replace Samson. That's what I'm saying, lol. I said if the trade had happened and Samson left. They would have got Drexler, and most likely drafted Bowie to replace what they lost. Why would they draft Jordan if they already got a SG, when their plans at the time were to have Twin towers? They were fixated on the twin towers concept obviuosly, which is they turned down the trade to begin with.

    • @TheUrbanTwist
      @TheUrbanTwist Před 7 lety +5

      Abel Abitia they were fixated on having Twin Towers which is why I believe they may have drafted Bowie still #2 to replace what they lost, and it hindsight, with Samson's injuries around the corner, and even with Bowie not living up to his potential, Rockets would have been serious. Bowie was a serviceable player, and under this scenario he wouldn't have quite been seen as a "savior" to the franchise with Hakeem there. But I could see them maybe flipping the pick too for another big.

Shaq in my opinion is basically trash against real centers and real big men! He didn't win anything until the real centers were old and injured, and even then, he needed Tim Donaghy to rig game 6 of the 02' WCF just to get his 3 peat! Besides, how can anybody call Shaq the best center ever when he was SWEPT 6 times during the 90's?!? Didn't Shaq almost get SWEPT by the 04' Pistons with a prime Kobe?! Olajuwon in his old injured days would've never gotten beaten with a prime Kobe!! You dumbass young punks need to brush up on your NBA history and watch the real Goat Olajuwon lead his trash ass teams in every category for an NBA record 9 seasons. This combo would basically have annihilated all opposition for a decade at least. They would have won at least 10 rings. You know why? Both are double and triple team threats. Can you imagine that? This basically means the rest of the 3 teammates are OPEN for shooting 3 pointers or mid-range shots. I don't know about Hakeem being an all-time great center but I do know this. He dominated and frustrated ALL hall of famer centers during that era. Imagine nullifying the likes of Shaq's effectiveness. This basically makes the Magic a cakewalk. Meanwhile MJ is free to do what he does and that's scoring and leaving Hakeem to add points, rebounds, steals and blocks. That's why even MJ picks Hakeem for center if he were to make his own 5-man team.
    While you say say their scoring sweet spots are similar and they will each into each other's stats, they actually complement each other because both care more about winning than padding their stats. Between scoring 30s vs getting another championship ring, which one do you think both of them would pick? Two double/triple threat players on the same team would have been crazy.

    A far more likely possibility which was actually a hair trigger away from being done, was the Pippen -Olajuwon trade in 1992. Or so I remember from that time. The Bulls secured Kukoc's rights, and Krause thought he'd replace Pippen, and so there was some deal on the table. There was a reason Krause was stalling on Pip's contract extension and trying to sign Kukoc. in the end though Kukoc stayed in Europe, and Krause couldn't get the deal done. Otherwise for that 1992 season it would have been MJ and The Dream on the Bulls, with Kukoc replacing Pippen's role.

    I actually heard that the trade that would have happened at the '84 draft was going to send Clyde Drexler and the #2 pick to Houston for Ralph Sampson. If that happens, the Rockets potentially rival Boston in 1986.

    Hakeem , Jordan,Drexler,Otis Thorpe, Kenny Smith. Drexler was offered in the Sampson trade. Vernon Maxwell, Sam Cassell, & Robert Horry off the bench. What an unbelieveable team. Almost forgot Mario Ellie. Wow this video brought back my childhood thank you. In around 96 they could of got Rodman cheep like Chi town did. I think 10 titles, we know of 8 in a row & could of squeezed at least 2 more. Hakeem & Jordan played till 02-03 season. Jordan may not of retired, at least not twice or three however you look at it.

      Drexler was no slouch obviously. He even came a breath away from a quin double, having had 8 steals and 7 blocks in one game in addition to the triple. The three on the same team would have been a match up problem for anyone.

  • @rebelranger
    @rebelranger Před 4 lety

    Other than Sampson, the 87 Rockets also lost a lot of valuable support peaces due to the NBA's cocaine epidemic including John Lucas, Lewis Lloyd, and Andrew Wiggins' dad. Also, the 87 Lakers added not only A.C. Green, but Michael Thompson who was a physical center and Kareem's backup. Given that the Rockets supporting cast fell apart and offered little hope around Hakeem and MJ, and the Lakers now had some additional pieces to throw at Hakeem, they would have beaten Houston in 87.

  • @asnark7115
    @asnark7115 Před rokem +1

    Jordan would have gotten a lot fewer points. Hakeem distribute the ball from the inside so well that his perimeter players going 2 deep took turns having 30 point nights for several years.

  • @Exia09
    @Exia09 Před rokem +1

    MJ and The Dream would be a cheat code. Hakeem's quieter personality is a perfect fit for Jordan's alpha dog character. Jordan's cuts would open the defence like butter and position Olajuwon for easy buckets. MJ's assists would skyrocket. If Hakeem posts up, MJ could loiter on the wing for easy kickout mid ranges or cutting layups. You'd have to double and triple team either of them at a time. The game would be unplayable. And that's just on offense. Defensively both are juggernauts. Hakeem would give the rim protection presence the Bulls never had. MJ would be picking pockets, locking down the perimetre players. If these two played together, the rest of the league should just retire lol.

    With the way Hakeem was before 1992 I don't think the team could have stuck together. MJ and Hakeem would have been fighting. Before 1992 Hakeem was a more rash and stubborn person. His personality at that time would have clashed bad with the way MJ is. People always look back and can only remember the smiling nice Hakeem from 1993 and on. He used to not be as nice or relaxed of a person. I remember him talking about his faith helped center himself and changed the way he treated others a long time ago. I would have loved if they both played on the Rockets team but don't think it would have worked out.

    At that time, Houston couldn't afford Hakeem and MJ. Throw Drexler in, being from Houston, and MJ would have been traded. Thing is, what team would MJ be traded to? Very different NBA then.
    BUT, if it could have worked, Drexler could have played small forward easily, because the Rockets usually played 3 guards anyway. The Rockets offence always needed a shooting point guard, like MJ loves. That team would have been AWESOME!
    Rockets Starting five...
    PG Kenny Smith
    SG Michael Jordan
    SF Clyde Drexler
    PF Otis Thorpe
    C Hakeem Olajuwon
