I researched the meaning of the dance:
    - "The repetitive sitting, standing, and shaking evokes davening in synagogue. The piles of thrown clothing suggest photographs from the Holocaust. The dancers toil through the choreography and their struggle could be read as a historical homage to the building of Israel."
    - "When Naharin decided to change the movement, one dancer, Erez Levy, did not hear the instructions and fell as before. His error was incorporated into the dance in the role of “the faller,” who sits at the end of the circle, falling to the floor at the end of each wave."

This version is the closest to the original version I danced in 1995 in the piece "Anaphasa" in Tel Aviv with the Batsheva dance Company . The version getting faster with live drumming is still much more impressive . Among all the choreography i learned during my career , this is the only one i still remember and want to dance again and again ...Even if my neck would hurt really bad .... Thanks for that and a lot more Ohad .

I was drawn here by the use of this music and dance in the film 7 DAYS IN ENTEBBE. I thought it was an absolutely brilliant integration of modern dance into another artform. I was literally in tears in the movie theater from the power that your dance brought to the film's finale, when the IDF rescues the hostages. Masterful work from everyone involved in creating the dance and from the filmmakers in working it into their production.

I'm so glad someone else was as moved as I was by this sequence. A lot of the reviews of the film criticized the intercutting of the dance with the raid, or even made fun of it, but I think true art needs to be daring like this, and if some people didn't understand it, and choose to respond by dismissing it, that's their loss. This was breathtaking filmmaking.

I saw this piece live in Israel in the show Anafaza and my jaw was dropped the entire time with tears streaming down my face. I have never had that reaction in a theatre and I am a theatre artist. It was transcendental. In the version I watched they stripped down to their bras and underwear and the "faller" was towards the end of the row, but was not the last dancer. The faller towards the end, but not at the end was more visually compelling and surprising for me and brought a new layer of meaning for me. This is such powerful art.

I watched this in Palast as the second act. I'm not a native german speaker. And it's first now when going down in the comments section that I realise it was in hebrew. Which is very interresting. This meant that most of the German audience would not know of the lyrics either. The entire play being a mystery
When I sat and watched it. After having seen the narrative from the prior plays in "Arise", before act 2. I believed this to be a visual representation of the main character, having returned to conformity. Yet he is unable to follow the demands of conformity. The ones that obey and listen in the heavy transe. Making their sacrifices to whatever has them in a bind. Kinda like working overtime in a job that you feel is necessary to stay in
So the main character is failing in becoming a part of the wheel. Forcing him to reflect. Which is a blessing in disguise. As he has to come to terms that he has to face reality of his ambitions. No matter the ups and downs.

Here's some progress: It's not a deep religious song at all. It's a rhythmic song meant to wake the kids up at the end of Seder night, that's all.
It connects numbers in a very superficial way to concepts in Judaism, and adds to the numbers the ones who preceded the current one ,so the challenge is to sing everything in one breath.
It's like an ABC book only it's a song and about numbers.
Imagine this dance to the song "uncle Moses had a farm."
Anyone who admires the depth of the performance probably doesn't understand anything about this song.

There is something about the imperfection in this dance that makes it so great.
In most choreographed group dances, there is little to no deviation in how each person goes through a specific motion. Like if ten people need to raise their arm or move to the left or whatever, it's always by the same exact amount or distance.
In this, there are so many motions in quick succession that it's not possible to be that perfect. Each dancer's exact implementation of each move is different from the others. It's most noticeable on the #12 and 11 lines, and a bit at 7, 5, 4, 3, and 2.
There's also some legitimate mistakes (not counting the falling guy, that's intentional) made throughout that are recovered quickly. One person knocks over their chair at one point, and quickly puts it back in place and continues like nothing happened. At one other point you see the shoulder of another's jacket slip down, and it's put back between verses without a second thought. Each time at the #10 line where they all remove a garment, it's taking each dancer a different amount of time to do so, some are even seen having trouble with one piece or another. They often don't get it off in time for 9, but quickly transition into 8 regardless of any issues that just arose.
It feels more... human. Where a dance from the Rockettes for example is designed to be flawless, in this one the flaws are the goal.

you very attentive, but pay attention more to how they commit to whatever happens, is see total perfection in this, choreographed is a precreation, dances actually do allow for some artistic licence they are human forms not robots, even in ballet where precision and placement is so much they also allow for breath and stretch. its interpretion not imperfection a dancer is a paintbrush to create the thought process of the choreographer, why its interesting if the dances dont take off their shit at exatly the same time , why is that important, what important here is the why did thye take it off not the exact timing, he told them "i want you to like rip you shirts off" not you have 2 bars of 8. watch again and look for the whys of movement.
