Pyrenees Mountain Hikes - The Coronallacs Trail - Andorra Travel

- Last summer Anna and I arrived in Andorra to attempt The Coronallacs Trail. A five day hike through the Pyrenees Mountains that links all four of Andorra's manned mountain huts. The Coronallacs Trail spans over 92km through the Pyrenees and challenges hikers to conquer over 6000m of elevation. We signed up to the trail online, and collected a map and trail passport the day before so that we could be up bright and early to beat the heat.

@thegirlgonenomad 😁👍 recently been thinking about andorra as i was last there some 20 years ago during winter snowboarding. But even back then i said ide love to go back in the summer months for hikes. Ive done some research and am i right that No Wildcamping is in force ? Its not a problem as i came accross your video above 👍😁👍 and this trail looks ideal, plus the use of the refuses means less weight to carry and guaranteed a comfy sleep and nice food at the end of a hard days hiking. I will be flying from manchester to barcelona then coach ride to andorra la vella. I have a hotel booked for arrival day and again for my last day after the 5 day hike 😁 This will be next july , so its to early to book the refuses at the moment on the official website. Will keep trying 😁 Great video and andorra is definatley a fantastic all year round destination. .. Thanks for sharing. I can not wait to do this.. 😁
Hi there! Sorry for the slow reply, I'm so glad you have decided to do the route, it really is a brilliant trail. Beauty round every corner! The huts make it ideal for not having to carry food and its a great place to meet other hikers too, we made some lovely friends on the trial. Hope you also have some hiking routes booked in for this summer!
Many thanks for your great video! :) We did the Coronallacs in the last week of September (very lucky with the weather) and the scenery was fantastic. For food and water we also made sure to carry enough (esp. snacks ;) ). The huts were not too obercrowded and we had lovely hosts.

Ah nice, I wondered what the weather would be like later in the season and how busy it would be. It's beautiful isn't it, did you have a favourite part? Yes carrying lots of snacks is very important :) I hope you didn't leave your lunch behind like we did!
@@TheGirlGoneNomad Haha, no we managed to not forget about the picnic bags. 😅 But we only took the picnic once and otherwise had bought some stuff for sandwiches at the supermarket on Day 2. With regards to favourite parts, I would say that the lakes on Day 2 were really impressive. :) Then, the Jucla refuge had a really great atmosphere (very fun hosts!). And I felt very proud of myself making it through Day 4. 😄 The last ascent before the refuge on Day 4 felt really hard (but still very beautiful landscape all around!). I think all in all the tour is well planned and lots of great views. :)

Food has got to be the most valuable thing in my rucksack, I can never have enough 😊Oh the lakes were beautiful weren't they, it was the colour of the water that got me.Yes that last ascent to the refuge on day 4 after what was already a big day of climbing was a challenge, certainly something to be proud of! Have you got any more trailed already planned?
Sore legs, backs like swimming pools and insect bites - happy happy happy. Loved that Betty - what a trek end to end. The mountains were impressive and I can imagine the awe that kept stopping you because hey we just have to admire such beauty in our midst. In fact the refuge's were impressive to - some looked shiny and new. Showers? That's a bonus. Well, I saved the trail website for possible future reference. Many thanks - such good fun. Mark
Hi Mark, yes indeed the refuges were rather glam in comparison to some others I have stayed in. A big bonus to have a shower! I had never been to the Pyrenees and would love to head back for another trip, mile upon miles of great routes explore. Hope this week is treating you well!

Great video! Can I ask, how far in advance did you book the reservations on the Coronallacs website? I've had trouble with it and am wondering if I'm attempting a booking too far out (we're hoping to go in June '24, 8-9 months away).
Hi Mark, sorry to hear you're having problems booking onto the trial. We booked in the spring (April time) before setting off on the trail in late July, and had no problem getting the dates we wanted. I'm not sure when they open bookings for each season, might be worth dropping them an email? But I reckon you'll be fine getting the dates you want without any worries. Let me know if I can be any more help. You're going to love I'm sure, it a beautiful route!

I have been looking for places to do a four or five day hike thats not to difficult to get to. Thanks for all the info in the comments section. Its a real help. Looks amazing. I've not come across this trail before. Can I ask how you travelled to Andora (I assume from the UK) ? And how you booked the Huts ?
Hi Craig, oh it's a great one can highly recommend! We flew from Manchester to Barcelona and took a bus from the airport to Andorra la Vella, which runs several times a day. Huts are quite straight forward stadesport.com/en/coronallacs from this website you can book all four huts in one go if you know your dates. You'll find loads more information about the trial here coronallacs.com. Hope this helps, let me know if you give it a go!

@TheGirlGoneNomad Hi! Ah great to hear as I'll be hiking Coronallacs solo at the end of July this year! How did you find the huts? Do they provide a sheet and pillowcase? Or is it just a plasticky mattress protector? And yes it is me 🤗
@@adventurernic Ah perfect, sure you'll have a fantastic time! The huts were great, some of the nicest I've stay in. They all had showering facilities which was a luxury. Real mix on the bedding front, some plasticky, some with sheets. They all had a pillow and blanket. I found it really warm and had just a sleeping bag liner and thin downs blanket as back up.

I'm just back from walking the GR221 across Mallorca and we had a mixture of bed linen options in the refuges there too so I was curious how the Andorra huts would compare. @@adventurernic Sounds great, what was the GR221 like? I was in Mallorca in Feb, we just did some day hikes/runs but saw people hiking the whole trail. I’ve found your website really helpful, particularly for local hikes in the Lakes. I want to get out and about a bit more in Scotland too, so will be sure to have a look at your Munro routes.
