  • Have we already exceeded the limits of sustainability of our planet? João Abegão, PhD student in Climate Change and Policies for Sustainable Development, presents evidence that we urgently need to change some behaviours to ensure sustainability and our lifestyle. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

[Speaker] Thank you all for the wonderful feedback, I'm glad that the talk is proving valuable and thought-provoking. I have provided English captions for the talk as well, you can find them easily if you paste this link into the site Captionfy. Keep in mind that the *real* talk starts at 1:12 and so do the captions.

One of the best summaries and explanations of our present situation I've ever heard. THIS should have been the opening address at the COP26.
Yet it is some obscure CZcams video with a little over a thousand views. It deserves 7.9 billion views.

Thank you Joao Abegao (and for the captions) This is the most important topic - life/human existence itself - and yet, few willing to address. I read "the Population Bomb" in the 90's and realized then we were on a perilous downhill path to collapse. Twenty-five years later - it seems like it may happen in my lifetime. If you had to guess, when do you think life as we know it will begin to impact the masses? I often think we have maybe 20-years, so I should live life accordingly - but, maybe it's closer to 10 years..... BTW: No kids, vegan....(glad you included "plant-based" under "what we can do today...."). Unfortunately, we're going over the cliff on this, that I am certain.
