Wow I wasn't even thinking about the way you said it could break, I'm glad I saw this video because I was thinking doing 11 filter items in each slot could break it by accidentally pushing out the single stackable item with a long off pulse, so I was going to attempt it with 10 filter items in each of the 4 slots and 5 of whatever I'm keeping until I saw this explanation of why that's a bad idea. Thanks, you saved me a lot of time and trouble! It also explains why Silent was fine using one on a raid farm because you'll never get more than 1 or 2 ominous bottles at a time.

The sorters seem very practical. Sadly cant build them yet since I dont have enough netherite blocks.

🤣 yeah, definitely want to use a cheaper material unless your flexing your netherite collection!

Cool stuff! I just saw a video about stacking systems and there was a comment about doing a 1-11-11-11-11 to save items and I never understood how it could break the system.

Humm, I'm curious about how much you can save. Yes, 11 sticks on each of the 4 remaining slots on the hopper may give a redstone signal higher than 3. But can't we, say, put 2 sticks on each? Or maybe 3?
Also, correct me here if I'm wrong: if you're in a line of hoppers, and the items can only go from one hopper to the other, they also pass one unit of item each time at the same speed, so the sorting system will only break if someone drops items in the hopper. If they drop in a chest instead, and the hoppers get the items from the chest, and the line of hoppers is protected, it will be all ok, right?

Correct, a hopper can only pull out of a container one at a time. So it's a lot more of an issue with ice stream sorters than hopper lines. I believe the max signal level is 63.9999 so as soon as you get to a stack, it'll be a Redstone signal strength of 4. I believe every 21.333 items you'll gain a Redstone signal strength as it goes off a percentage of how full the hopper is. So if a hopper holds 5 stacks of 64. That would be 320 items. Then divide that by the max signal strength the hopper can put out which is 15 when full. So 320/15 would be 21.333 items per 1 signal strength.

This math isn't mathing. 😂 I'll have to sit and and test to see what the actual number is for the signal strength. Because if what I said is accurate, it would break the sorter and it doesn't.

Non stackable sorting has never made sense to me because you really can't filter for it lol

They work great, as long as you put them after all of the sorted item sorters. I really wish mojang implemented the allay better.
