Mac needs Harm to help her with her out with her Imes cases, but it's hard to overcome all the things said and done in the past. (Oh, and happy birthday Catherine Bell:) )
At that point Harm's career didn't matter to him as much as it used to. It helped him with getting ready for relationship with Mac. She and Webb were together because they bonded in Paraguay, she didn't love him. After he said that Mac made it pretty clear I'm sure her face said 'well so be it'.
I never watched a long term tv series like jag with 2 main characters like harm & Mac and after 2or3 series r over u can see through both of them they have strong feelings for each other especially since they both were always covering one another six in life and death situations. The dam writers keep the fan base guessing way to long by season9 some sparks should have started flying. In the real world 5 or 7 years u would know this is the true match. The viewing audience could have enjoyed watching Harm & Mac playing more intriguing roles in the series

And everything because of Clayton Webb. She should have stayed not gone on a dangerous mission with Webb. He wasn't worth it and also he was the worst thing that happened to Mac. She should have stayed with Harm and not hurt him. She should have thrown herself at him and he should too. Harm was hurt and I feel sorry for him. First he was accussed of killing lt Singer and gone through court-martial and fortunately cleared of all charges because he was framed by horrible Cmdr Linsdey because he couldn't stand being passed over promotion for captain by Chegwidden and wanted to destroy JAG team. Then woman that he loves turns up at his door step saying that she is going for a mission with Webb and she isn't staying when he asks her too. So she goes for this suicide mission with Clay. Then Harm finds out that Mac is in danger and is forced to resign his commision because Chegwidden won't let him to go after Mac. Which I think was unfair because Harm should have this leave. Then he saves her and sees that she's kissing Clayton Webb and then he ends up hurt because woman that he loves is willing to push him out of her life. And then he finds out that Chegwidden actually procedded his resignation. Bad year for Harm.
He said things change because he was upset that no one fought for him. Mac didn't even thank him. Admiral accepted his resignation just to teach him something because he couldn't save Mac and Harm did. I think that Admiral was starting to get angry with Harm ever since he was severed from that case then Harm's trial came. Everyone in their right mind knew that Harm couldn't have killed Lt Singer. Harm spent large part of his career and life chasing ghosts of his past because he couldn't save his father because of being too young.
If I had been Harm, as he is still a member of the bar, I would have replied that I would be happy to review the cases at the hourly rate that outside lawyers get paid by the US government. One has to admire Mac's nerve, even when she learns Harm is out of work, she still asks him to do a freebie as a favour.
@@stephenfgdl All the more reason to offer payment when she learnt he was unemployed. If I asked a friend to help me with their professional skill, and I realised they were out of work after asking I would offer to pay them for their time and skill.
