One thing I keep thinking is if they mean the process of dying, which varies from horrifyingly painful and slow to painless and with no effort, or being dead, like how living means staying alive (SSTTTAAAAAAAAY ALIIIIVE). Then, it makes more sense because you need things like food, shelter, and water.

I know it’s a joke, but... Washington didn’t need a soldier. He needed someone unconventional, brilliant, motivated and persuasive. Hamilton wasn’t afraid to take risks (see the cannon-theft), wouldn’t stand for polite excuses from congress, and wouldn’t need Washington to keep an eye on him while everything else was going on. He could organize everything from accounts to intel, so Washington had all the information at his fingertips without it clogging up his desk. Burr was conventional, polite and cautious, and he would’ve helped the Continental Army lose more slowly... but Hamilton helped them WIN.

Hamilton’s strategies involved other people whom he already knew and trusted were capable of rallying more troops and getting a leg up in the war. And since they were friends, as well as passionate rebels, they would be more than happy to play their part. Plus, when you think about it, one person who knows multiple people with experience in different areas can outweigh someone who has experience in one area.
