Genius! Great piece, great composer! How much ideas, themes and colours... It's so sad that He died so early... He was only 31 years, but his compositions will exist for ages!
Nikolaus Bruhns was a great talent. It is known that he played the violin, whilst he accompanied himself with the pedal
I can't believe this was written before the high baroque. Look at that amazing motif at the start of the piece. Its so chromatic that Brahms would be proud.
Yes, it is a rambling stream of consciousness.. there's nothing "Baroque" about it. It transcends time and style.
Ich habe die Kleine e-Moll gespielt und bin dabei dies einzuüben mit Hilfe meines Lehrers. Dies ist auch ein sehr schönes Stück! Wunderbar interpretiert und gespielt! Schade das es nicht viele Stücke gibt von Bruhns :(
Da bin ich ganz gleicher Meinung: Schade - ja, sehr schade, dass der Altmeister Bruhns nicht mehr Orgelmusik komponiert hat; übrigens wurde er nur 32 Jahre alt - und trotzdem hat Bruhns den zukünftigen Orgelspielern ein grossartiges Werk für Orgel hinterlassen!!!

Sehr schöne, stimmige Interpretation! Endlich mal nicht so schnell ( frei nach Loriot: "Aber ich kann schneller" ) runtergefetzt, dass die Hälfte der kostbaren Musik untergeht! Hübsche Idee auch, die erste Fuge mit Zunge zu spielen- habe ich noch nie so gehört, aber überzeugt, da das ruhige Thema das tempomäßig hergibt. Werde ich nachher gleich auch mal ausprobieren :) .

PLS read whole comment: Again, suggest slow down the first two pages and express it rapturous and rubato and "Dramatical" The performer's job is to grab the audiences heart strings and drag them across a terrain of emotional bumps, highs, lows, and ultimate ecstasy. Play each note with hesitation, because you are afraid of it's emotional effect on you, and your FEAR if your are able to handle it. FEAR of surrendering to your emotions, losing control, and sobbing all over the organ console. Does this resonate with anyone, or too much Maker's Mark? The audience should be left with chills up their al dente spaghetti spines and sobbing into their Kleenex! They will love you for it!

Nicolaus Bruhns naît dans une famille de musiciens (luthistes,organistes, gambistes, violonistes) installée dans la région de Husum, au nord de Hambourg. Il apprend la musique avec son père, Paul Bruhns (1640-1689)2, organiste à Schwabstedt .fût l'élève de Buxtehude à Leipzig C'est ainsi qu'il apprit l'art de la composition et il n'est pas étonnant de retrouver, en maintes occasions dans ses œuvres, l'influence de son maître. sa carrière fût brève, il mourut à l'age de 32 ans. On ne lui connaît qu’une douzaine de cantates ainsi que des pièces d'orgue dont aucune source manuscrite autographe n'a été retrouvée. Comme chez Buxtehude, les préludes de Bruhns se caractérisent par l'alternance de sections de natures différente, c-à-d des sections de type libre et improvisation, correspondant à l'essence même du terme « prélude « et d'autres contrapuntique de type « ricercar » . L'écriture de Bruhns pour l'orgue révèle une grande qualité : la fantaisie. Sa contribution à la littérature organistique, bien que peu importante en quantité est loin d'être négligeable,Un jeune organiste prit vraisemblablement connaissance de certaine de ses pièces lors d'un passage à Lûbeck en 1706 , son nom : Johann Sebastian Bach! Ce destin rappelle beaucoup celui, en France, de son contemporain Nicolas de Grigny Une anecdote rapporte qu'il aurait été capable de jouer du violon tout en chantant et en s'accompagnant au pédalier de l'orgue.

Ich frage mich, wie man das auf einem nicht temperiert gestimmten Instrument spielen kann. Die Harmonik wirkt ihrer Zeit weit voraus.
Auf einer mitteltönig gestimmten Orgel kräuselt sich in der Tat das Trommelfell :-) und die Zuhörerschaft wünscht sich den Stimmer herbei. Womöglich dachte Bruhns in Husum: ich schreib's mal wie von mir gedacht auf - für später, wenn meine gute alte Fritzsche-Orgel renoviert und moderner gestimmt wird - in Lübeck Marien wurde 1683 milder gestimmt.
@@michaelmartens7728 Der Ton dis in der Dominante muss verlassen sein, bevor der Schmerz auftaucht. Er heißt ja eigentlich es. Das ist ein Problem des Komponisten.
