    Auto-sprint should be a thing.
    I saw someone else mention this and wanted to mention this as well so more people see it and perhaps the devs change it.
    Having to mash or rapidly press the sprint is generally annoying when that is the thing you want to be doing 9/10 times.
    Make it so shift is a walk button.

    • @turmspitzewerk
      @turmspitzewerk Před měsícem

      @@welkijkenthe ability to control sprint is still useful in a lot of ways. sprint is used to cancel many abilities like ice wall, support beacons, and railgunner's scope which a macro would totally mess up. just about every movement ability can be modulated by whether or not you're sprinting, letting you more precisely control where it moves you. this is probably most important on void friend, where if you have too much movement speed and use its uncorrupted utility skill while sprinting you can absolutely launch yourself up in the air and kill yourself from fall damage. lastly, sprinting can be used to animation cancel various actions like acrid's primary or captain's beacon/shotgun spam. in that case, a macro can be very helpful. (but the RTAutoSprintEX mod has you covered there too.)
      RTAutoSprintEX simply inverts the run button with the walk button, which is how it always should've been. you can still maintain finer control over certain actions by choosing to walk, while also perfectly inputting sprint every single time you'd want it to. it is SO much fucking better, it genuinely improves the quality of the game by a whole letter grade just by itself in my opinion. i fucking DESPISE useless ass sprint mechanics such as this. fuck this stupid ass button mashing after every attack for no reason bullshit, i have an RSI goddammit.

    one thing about the "5 minute rule" is that each character's dependency on items varies so telling a loader and commando to spend the same amount of time on the same map makes a lot of early players fall behind without the less item dependent characters. it's going to make people hate the less innately powerful characters because item synergies are needed to show their true power. the game and characters are too variable and unique to apply a singular rule to all of them

      I love the way you put it. For some reason people tend to forget that enemies have A CAP, meaning they won't get any stronger past lvl.99. You, however, have endless (well, near endless considering integer limits) ability to scale in power. So eventually you will outscale any enemy, even if you get 4 steak drops every stage. However, if you skip items in favour of time, you will simply end up without necessary mobility/defense to survive long enough to get to the critical mass. I've seen SO MANY people die on stage 5 because they rushed to get there, have like 1 hoof for mobility and elite elders just run them over

    • @Buglin_Burger7878
      @Buglin_Burger7878 Před 2 lety

      It is a lot more complex then "Go fast" and "Enemy cap."
      You need to look at the middle ground of what happens when you get 4 streks like iluxa mentioned.
      If I open 4 chest and get 4 steaks during this time enemies have gotten more health meaning stages take longer.
      If those 4 chests had been 4x Glasses then I've increased my average damage by 40%
      Now lets apply the same thing with 8x of an item.
      With that 8 steaks I've gotten 200 HP, while the enemies take longer to kill and build up faster and bosses become near impossible or place you even further behind meaning you need items or your run is going to soft lock on a mushroom boss. I've also gotten 1 green item.
      With that 8 glasses I've gotten an 80% increase in damage killing enemies faster but for the next few stages I'll be playing "catchup" to had I left with 40% and why is that? While a stage starts at 0 money you can go straight for the tele event to get money while not having to cover the entire map searching for chests. I've still gotten green item.
      A player who did 4x a stage has gotten 8 whites and 2 green at worst being ahead of a farming player.
      When you farm and take more chests you need synergy to deal with mushrooms.
      When you rush and take few chests you need less synergy to deal with mushrooms but without basic items lose.
      To minimize risk you want to go fast but going slow once you get synergy going can let you just get infinite power. Or just play till you get a Tome and Doll for money generation machine and go fast while farming.
      There is a balance to be had... but at base going faster has a slight edge of having more green items or possible yellow items.

    Full looting is a very consistent strategy for many players, including myself, especially on eclipse. Both strategies have their merit. I feel like it's detrimental to the community to tell them that there is only one way to play the game, when full looting stages has a better chance to lead to interesting synergies, and overall more fun in your runs.

      @@doubleaaron3625 on monsoon you can take 15 minutes per stage and still easily win. And the learning curve for full looting is much easier - you full loot just as always, but you slightly cut down the time here and there, eventually getting a lot faster. If you are trying to rush right away, you will end up with 2-3 items per stage, which will get you killed on stage 4 almost guaranteed. And with this approach, your way of improving is a lot tougher - you would need to learn every single enemy behaviour, you would need to learn how all of your skills work exactly, what kind of moves you are expected to do, how to perform them etc etc. Tldr: macro game is a lot easier to improve than micro game, and full looting leads to macro game more often than not

      @marcdragon2936 Před 2 lety +1

      @@iluxa-4000 Hmm... I guess it depends on play style! When I rush, grabbing 3 items for 1 spending no more than three minutes for the first 3 stages, I usually get to stage 4 with effectively no elites. So before the 10 minute mark, nothing in stage 4 even really does anything. You CAN grab every item in the entire stage, and just maximize time saves; and I'm sure it's just as effective, but the only issue is that rare run where you get no good items, have a 15 minute stage 4, and just.... die. I'm sure that doesn't happen often, though! I will say that I genuinely don't think that strategy will be viable on the 4/8 or especially 16-solo difficulties a lot of people are playing. When every enemy on stage one is an elite, your only choice - realistically - is to rush the heck outta there so you don't end up with an hour stage 5, where the enemies will survive God runs.

    You know, there's something that's stuck to me about this video.
    You do mention that Drizzle is useless- and in my current state, I disagree.
    When I first got this game, I shared this mentality. I thought that medium mode is how the game should be played, I'm no idiot.
    I played over 70 runs as Commando. I'd say in around 68, if not all of them I never got past the first stage.
    Why? Because I wanted to explore. I wanted to look at every nook and cranny, particularly because I didn't know tricks like the teleporter radius. Being on Rainstorm obviously didn't mesh well with the 10+ minutes I took trundling around, and I never got far. I got frustrated, and I quit the game. After about I'd say a full update or so later, I returned to it. I finally caved and tried drizzle with a friend, and my mind was BLOWN. Him and I explored every secret and stage, unlocked every character, did a majority of what there was to do. Now, I have over 300 hours on the game and 7 masteries, and I'm still chipping away at getting the final ones. I rarely play drizzle except for when I am with friends. Although drizzle is definitely the baby brother to Rainstorm and Monsoon, it's also an additional stepping stone to those who can't make the initial leap into it. Although I have no need for it now, without drizzle, I may have never discovered what an amazing game this was. That is all, thank you for reading this far.
