You need Precision Defense Focus materia lvl3, you can block grab attacks like : Bahamut, Titan or Gilgamesh
Level 3 of Precision Dodge lets you perfect block bind attacks, which Gilgamesh Pose counts as. He dodged every other unblockable attack.

If you're in vengeance mode and dodge out of the held square button attack the slash continues iirc

Because Phoenix takes significantly reduced damage while Kujata is alive.
