As a local former student, a piece of advice for the foreigners who want to study here, be nice to your local classmates. Try to get close to the local students, the best kind of kids you can get are those who sit in the front rows, those are the good kids that can help you with your study.... That is if you really come to study. If not, dont bother going for the front row kids, you'd just annoy them. If you manage to get on these kids' good side, they will help you with whatever problem you have from study to culture barriers. But a warning: work hard when you're with them. I have lots of experiences pitying international students, only to be dragged down because they had so many issues like free riding, lack of communication, always out of campus to travel (honestly wth?)..

As Malaysian citizen and also a student, maybe I can give advice to check out whether the courses that provided in any universities that you would like enroll has Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accredition or not. Yes, it was true that goverment universities cost cheaper than private, but not all people can go for it. There's a few requirement for you to have such as good result from past high school/college, races, parents net income etc. So for those who cannot enroll in government force to go for private (or half-private) universities which cost far higher than public universities. 😇

@@ibnuabbas6649 First of all, congratulation to your sister. Regarding this University, I don't have much information, but based on my understanding and research. This is a private university. In terms of costing, for sure it will cost higher. But then, since you said that your sister got scholarship, so there is no to worry about. Usually, the scholarship will cover the tuition fees. It will exclude other cost, meaning, material cost (not too expensive), hostel fees, meal cost and so on, the student need to cover by themselves. But then, scholarship usually will provide subsistence allowance. But remember, usually scholarship required the student to reach or maintain certain CGPA in every semester. Anyway, don't worry much and congratulation again. :)

Hi, just came accros this vlog once wander around. I am Malaysian.
First and foremost before you choose to study in Malaysia do some research about the course that you are interested in.
There are some good private university in Malaysia such as Multimedia University, Petronas University, Uniten, LIM KOK WENG university. Be clear of your interest first before you applied. This universities are good in their field.
Same goes with government universities but of course it will be harder for you to enroll in government university. But the fees is cheaper compare to private university.
You can email directly to the university should you require more info. Most importantly, do check the status of those private university that you've came accros with Ministry of High Education. All these universities are registered with MOHE.

I am Malaysian and I can share some of my experiences. Both of my kids dropped their government university offers and went to private one instead, simply because of 2 reasons-first-english language is widely practise there, inside & outside of the class. 2nd- very minimum government/politicians influences. Besides, quality of the educations...but this can be highly debatable. By looking at their QS world ranking we can generally guess how good their performance are. Today government funded University Malaya is at the top spot and for private one goes to University Technology Of Petronas (UTP). I guess, many other malaysian parents would like to take this same choice but the only set back is the cost.
University facilities is another area you need to look into. Sometime good university might not be necessary good for u because of the facility is not there. If you taking medical course for example they should have their own hospital. Or else you will have very little chance to use the lab or experience the real hospital environments.

But you hardly get accepted to study in Government universities because of quota system. Like 90% bumi and 10% for non bumi. So, non bumi's in Malaysia will forced to chose to study in private universities/ college although they are getting good results and the fees are very expensive( read one news getting straight A's but rejected to study in local universities because non bumi ). Anyway, it's still depends on yourself

Well I believe that instead of going to the government or public universities the foreign students should go for the prestigious universities which are credible enough, like Monash or Swinburne or any Australian university because the reason is that their local universities might not put the efforts on student development and lecturers most likely busy in researches instead of developing the students ..... And moreover, based on my experience the Australian universities are much better than the public university.
This all thing is based on my experiences....

For UM actually you can apply with your diploma (3.00 above) or A levels for degree and more than score more than 80% of your national high school exam (I think there's more for that part but you have to check the specific course tho). SPM is for when you want to apply for the foundation studies in UM actually. For foreigners (for degree level) you actually need an addition of the IELTS (5.0-6.5 above) or TOEFL (can't remember) certificate. Well there's more requirements for different courses that you need to check on yourself but that's the general info I could say.
