If anyone else hasn't said it, the music during the Aksis fight is probably the best in the game
yup
that Sepiks Perfected tho
Second to Sepiks Perfected boss music. That gets me so pumped.
+TheWolfXCIX If you really listen to it, the Sepiks Perfected music is a metal remix of the original Sepiks theme.
yeah thats the best thing about it :D
Hard mode will include the final boss Greg the Dreg watch out
Charlie Chappo and Rhandal, The Perfected has come to wreak havoc upon us
Charlie Chappo lol
Lol
"You MISSED? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?"
~Datto, when OutHouse missed his throwing bomb.
Lol that's how I felt one of the times I was killing Aksis. My friend was supposed to tether him once he did his final stand thing, but he missed and we almost didn't kill him.
"This is FUN, U GUYS" - Datto
That happened 30 minutes ago. Dude missed his bomb. Wanted to scream.
Usually my reaction when someone kept falling off the plates in Kings Fall repeatedly, if I was going for worlds first I'd be grinding my teeth
i cried.
This raid is the best yet.
It's fun and Intense like VoG.
Learned mistakes from Crota.
Good Mechanics from Oryx.
Great fun and well made. GG.
10/10 would bang again
Nathaniel Lewis I miss VOG :(
Nathaniel Lewis I love this raid too, it's fun and has mechanics so everyone feels important. Unlike swordbearer or shield like the previous.
Nathaniel Lewis I'm pretty sure kingsfall was the most annoying raid so far because your casual fire team will leave after golgoroth or sisters
you can still play it man. gear isnt the only motive. play the game to have fun
I mean, if you've never gotten 'No Time To Explain' then you cans till get a drop from Atheon that gives you a GREAT exotic quest for a weapon you can still use.
The music when Aksis is summoning the SIVA mites is phenomenally awesome. Bungie always absolutely nails it when it comes to audio
-Hasn't even been out a week yet
-Look up LFG listings
-90% of listings "Must Have Experience..."
-wut
you can have experience but not clear. pretty simple.
I beat the raid 7 times the first week
yeah, and your exotic friend Raze lighter completed it over 5000 times!
If someone says I don't have ToM for Kings fall and is going to boot me I'm just like "I don't care ToM is for noobs and so is black spindle" then i leave
Salty, I barely ever used either and I never got kicked from a raid. The guns aren't needed, the skill to get the guns is more what matters.
The raid is definitely easier I'd say, but it's more demanding of everyone as opposed to putting the burden on only a few players (like warpriest aura/golgy gaze/oryx runner).
Thats what im saying
And also this raid demand you to change your gear from fight to fight
instead of using Scouts like always i found my self using Auto rifels and Hand canons
also Shotguns and swords are pretty good
fuck it, even the warlocks have a usefull role in this raid unlike the other raids
this raid is just amazing
im already thinking about Hard mode
Yeah on my first run one of my friends who had already done it was playing Nova Bomb and was just destroying the captains every time and throwing nonstop grenades. It was really awesome. An absolutely.. Finding the need to use a shotgun in PVE is a rare thing for me, but it just made sense in some areas of the raid.
Can we also take a moment to talk about how WORTH it it is to do this raid? Like.. The loot is legit. The chests..... Oh man... What is it, 5 exotic chests? Or at least 4 confirmed exotic chests? Each of which give a legendary engram every time? Bungie have done a phenomenal job this time around. The weapons and armor pieces are actually good too. Like, useful. Raid scout rifle in PVP? Give it a shot.
They definitely upped the loot game in a good way. They took the moldering shard system and remade it into something actually useful. Being able to not only reroll armor, but to use the keys to CHOOSE which loot pool you pulled from.
YOUfailME911 I still miss the old system where you just used the materials to upgrade gear :/
Most of your issues are serious 1st world CZcams/streamer problems. And it's sort of annoying/crybabyish.
Legendary Engrams from the raid are capped at 365. Useless.
Fake Name And people should care about what you think because....?
Datto, you guys should do a race up Felwinters Peak. The Iron Goat challenge. See if you guys are still friends afterwards :p
good idea
patrick71682 my fasted time is like 2 minutes 16 seconds or something
My team went in blind, at an average of 365-368 ish light. It was the most fun I've had in a raid since VoG.
I kinda feel bad that casuals and kinderguardians can't experience the vanilla grind. That was hard as shit buts also fun as shit. Sure gathering resources wasn't the best but it made you fell like you truelly earned your stuff. Atheon was hard as hell but the satisfaction of killing him made for it tenfold. Exotics were harder to aquire and uprgrade. This made them feel exotic because way less people had them. Most only had about 8 to 10 leveled exotics so you filled roles based on what you had. Destiny has yet to repeat all this but the closest thing to it is the raids and the other endgame content. Making things like accessing max light or adding matchmaking to raids only takes away from the feeling of satisfaction. Bungie has said forever that raids are not for everyone.
I personally think they should have made the rise of iron book have more stuff in it in exchange for adding weapons, artifacts and shells while also making the armor and all the stuff i said you get being the equivalent of raid gear. So it's easier but a LOT longer to get. Casuals can get endgame gear by doing lots of easily doable activities and raids would still have a quicker but harder way to max light.
You deserve more likes.
"Vanilla grind was hard as shit buts also fun as shit" - Stopped reading here.
Nickolas Pavon yea I rather the content Destiny has now, it's a better game and that's why I havnt quit again like I did year 1
The music when Aksis, is charging up the SIVA density charge sounds like Godzilla fighting King Gidorah.
A fellow Godzilla fan? Hmmmmmm
does to me at least, lol.
I'm a huge Godzilla fan is what I meant. Rare to find a fellow fan
lol
i dont think anything can campare the feeling of beating atheon for the first time.
Atheon was just too easy, kings fall and wrath of the machine were much more satisfying.
Are you joking? easy?
Isaac Too easy? Were you there when it first came out? It took a week to finish world first... You're obviously not a year 1 player
You obviously didnt fight atheon sub light level 30 in year 1...
Easy? Seems like we got a Kinderguardian over here........
Loved this raid. Felt like a breath of fresh air. Great use of varied locations. Even if it was technically shorter (than KF), it felt like a journey.
Love your content too Datto. You clearly put in the time and effort and it shines through. Look forward to what you've got next. (Exotic pulse maybe?)
Yooooo. You are so right about the "clutch moments". I'm having flashbacks to back in the day when one or two people completely clutched the oracles or templar in VoG. those moments make a raid so satisfying. they were non-existent in kings fall and crotas end. (apart from if you managed to stand in the circle shooting the boss for 5 seconds longer than your teamates did)
I haven't played wrath of the machine yet because school and work is keeping me from grinding but just hearing that one bit makes me excited to play it.
Aksis looks badass as hell. One of the best designed raid bosses Bungie has ever put out.
You may have not gotten 1st, but you were first in getting the pulse, so congrats on that. Your team is and definitely always will be one of the most respected teams out there. Keep it up Datto, and here's to another great year
You know what would've been an epic end to the raid? A sparrow escape sequence; six guardians racing to escape the perfection complex as it collapses around them.
stop
i do think that would have been cool
great job on the review Datto, keep it up!
three years later and i still love watching datto d1 videos
Me too
Datto, being super serious is fine. I am glad your team has an atmosphere where you can do that. Keep being you. Love ya man
clutching atheon makes you feel like a beast
You are right regarding the teaser, for instance, Crotas teaser was just him holding a sword, nothing more, and I found it great
Hey Datto, big fan. I really love your analysis videos and Destiny Mythbusting videos, when are you going back to that? And also, can you do a comparison vid between Black Spindle and Gjallarhorn?
Good stuff man, I didn't get to join the world's first running with my friends because I wasn't above 350 by Friday because I didn't have a bunch of materials and engrams. I upset but at the same time it feels like Y1 the same way that I was under leveled for a while and I liked that
I could not agree more. Well put. The Oryx fight was so frustrating at times. It never got easier with gear progression.
I was talking to a buddy about the raids in destiny and one day later you make a video that pretty much perfectly mimics my opinion. :D
do tell? XD
I miss VOG, grinding for that rare Fatebringer, VOC and Vex Mythoclast was what I loved along with the mechanics!
Nice job on finding the 4th moniter Datto.
Thanks for the explanation for the intensity datto. I was kinda annoyed last time but now I understand the reason. Great video!
Great video man keep up the good work
What I don't like about rise of iron is that I had to ask "what now?" a lot sooner than I hoped I would.
you say that has hard mode raid isn't even out, or trials or iron banner.
iron banner? and trials? to what dozenth time will we be doing this? this isn't new content. at all. same goes for a raid on hard.
it amazes me, a bungie fan will look at garbage and call it treasure.
Actually, from what we've heard, Iron Banner is changing a lot. Trials, we're not sure about.
Festival Of The Lost and SRL are both coming back, and we're supposedly getting more from them than we did last year. I think Bungie have even said that SRL won't just be racing, although I don't know who said that or where.
I'd have to agree. Not nearly as much content as it should have. Its only 10 dollars cheaper than Taken King and yet it feels like it has half the amount of content.
A lot more stuff coming
Watching after my first Last Wish clear - thanks Datto
My group is still working towards beating the raid but I have to say so far the raid has been a bit more forgiving with your gear. I have a 350 on the team and honestly he is doing fantastic so far! While VoG is still my favorite this takes a very close second place as of right now.
@Datto once you have completed the part of the pulse rifle quest with warlock,Titan, hunter go to a social space and inspect the siva engine there is a code needed to put into it, if you have already done this I am very sorry for waiting you're time
Fantastic review, really enjoyed the video. I agree on the issue of players hitting max light before the raid, as in my eyes, it trivialises the experience. Some people enjoy playing the game like that, and that's cool, but not when it ruins the World's First experience for everyone else. Can't wait to see what Challenge mode ideas you come up with, and keep up the great work!
Thank you, Datto. Great content as always. Thank you for the guide as well. :)
I still prefer the mechanic heaviness of Kings Fall, but I like your reasoning about Oryx not getting any easier compared to Atheon and Aksis when acquiring stronger gear.
I hope with Destiny 2 we get updated versions of all the old raids. I'd love for it to be worth revisiting Vault of Glass.
Good news!
Congratulations to you and your team on figuring out the 5th hidden monitor
There will always be a special place in my heart for WotM because it was my first raid and the first one I completed. (I didn't play Destiny til Rise of Iron)
Some great points here, and I think I agree with all of them. Nice work as always, Datto :)
This raid is immensely fun. Favorite so far
I loved WotM. The final boss was so rewarding to kill because if you messed up once, it was a wipe. Event being a second behind, wipe. But when you finally do it, it's sooooo satisfying.
I'm going to go for worlds first next raid, I tried with Kings fall and by the time my team got to daughters, the world's first team completed it.
I think with the world's first attempt taking about 3/4 hours, has something to do with the experienced players and how the raid works. Because the siva bomb mechanic was repeated throughout the raid, people already knew how to beat the boss (to a certain extent) The siege engine encounter took the worlds first team an hour to complete because it was very different from the last encounter.
The raid is really cool. I had just as much fun in this as I did in the vault of glass.
I really miss being under leveld and going up against raid bosses as well I remember my first VOG run Took about 4 hours to get to the boss then 6 hours alone at Atheon! and it was the hardest thing I'd ever done in destiny and still is my entire team was under leveld but we finished it before ALOT of ppl did
I'm doing the raid tomorrow night. I'm so excited
I respect that you addressed our backlash on your "way to play raids" good job datto
Here's my final thoughts on the raid.
The visuals are excellent. The themes, music, sounds and atmosphere are awesome. I get really into it, like I did with Vault back in year 1.
I understand your gripe about the raid reveal - we all knew to jump off as well. That kinda made it a bit "well yeah we gotta go down cus the trailer said so"…
In regards to length of the raid and clutch-ability? Bungie NAILED IT. This raid is nice and short while still being wonderfully involving and fulfilling. It means busy people with LESS time in the week to raid can get it done a few times once the mechanics are solid within the 6-man team. I LOVE that.
Also the loot system is a big jump from Taken King. The cache keys and chests throughout the raid and re-rolling of raid armour pieces, not to mention a good amount of useful loot. These are all jumps from either of the 3 previous raids in different ways.
I'm raid team leader as well datto. I'm very hard on my clanmates, and we too know that we're doing super serious stuff and we have fun, despite myself being hard on them, it's what we do.
Datto please show us what you got in the raid!!
Huh, I was wondering about the whole "team abuse" thing, and if you were going to address that. I think it's easy for people outside looking in to see six people smashing their faces against Aksis, getting frustrated at each other...
Awesome video Datto, you summed it up perfectly.
haven't done the new raid yet , but after completing all the other raids. I got to say my favorite is KF then VoG and I don't even count crota's end.
Datto what raid do you prefer Kings Fall or WotM?
I'm new to Destiny, so I just wanted to see the veteran's opinion on this. Its actually really cool to see you agree on this. WotM was the first raid I ever played and I absolutely loved it. I've played all the other 3 and I totally agree on the fact that Wrath and VoG are in the upper echelons of the raids. I totally get why VoG is people's favorite because killing Aksis for the first time was special for me too, as I'm sure as was the case for Atheon.
But yea, love WotM.
Thank you for doing spoilers, Datto! So much was spoiled for me ahead of RoI that I didn't want by people who put up deceptively titled videos and started off with cutscene footage. Thank you for being a decent human being who thinks about other players and how they want to play, not just how you can get people to watch your videos.
This or vog is the best. This one just came out, so it's hard to say which of the 2 is better, but this one is for sure better than Crota and oryx.
I think that the hard mode vosik fight will have all the tv's able to glow not just the few on each side so you have to look closer for it
I will say I do miss the meatiness of King's Fall - there was just so much going on, it truly felt like a gauntlet you were having to pass through. Relics, ship jumping, totems, War Priest, maze, Golgoroth, jumping puzzle, Daughters, Oryx. That's a HUGE series of events and I always liked that about KF.
That said... I'm very okay with WotM being less demanding in terms of time and mechanics.
The raid is easy cause of revives just think about dying on hard on the part where you pick up parts and people die for the zamboni your basically screwed cause you can't take the parts in time or when the first boss fight you don't make it in the room when he does his wipe mechanic your basically wiping unless you self Rez
ruben rodriguez this is so true
It's called normal and hard mode for a reason
ruben rodriguez it's already been beat by slayerage and epicookies themselves. If people can't beat it with a full fireteam, something is wrong...
If 2 people can complete machine siege engine so full fireteam shouldn't have any problems even if 2 people die.
Then play hard mode? I don’t get what you’re complaining about
I agree with pretty much everything you say here. As far as spoilers from the trailers are concerned, my raid group knew how to beat the first phase of the siege engine before it even started because in one of the vidoc clips, you can see one of the cannons shot off the boss. I also agree that the smart loot system ruined a lot of the difficulty, it's ridiculous that people could hit the max light from the raid before it even was available. Smart loot has done a lot to reduce the RNG in the level grind, but combined with perfect infusion, it's made it *way* too easy to level up.
please do a video on the whole wrath of the machine raid starting from orbit
I totally agree with your choices and opinions
Day One, my raid team consisted of people below 370, it took 7 hours to complete (side note: we were completely blind after the first boss), this raid is completely possible at the lower light levels, and honestly it's a lot more fun struggling against a boss like Aksis than just blowing through it at max Light.
I hope they bring this raid back
Yo Dude. You said that you knew that your fireteam came 14th to finish the Raid last Friday. Well done with that. I've been trying to find out where my clan/fireteam came. Do you know who to ask or how to find out? Not imagining it's going to be anything super fast, but would be good to know as we're all hardcore Destiny players and grinded 15hrs every day from Tuesday. Our time was 6hr 18min 42secs.
I found this raid pretty fun not too difficult and pretty short. VoG still holds the flame imo, however i feel the hard mode is going to be a noticeable step up in difficulty unlike previous raids.
Agree. I love this raid. I clear it just for fun. I wouldn't set foot in KF if I weren't getting something from it. WOTM is so fun I just do it when I don't have to.
My order of raids from worst to best: Crotas End, Levitation, Vault of Glass( I never completed it to the end so that's why it's not above WOTM or Taken King but if I did complete it multiple times with a full raid team then I'm sure it'd be my top or second top raid), WOTM, then Taken King. Yes I'm sure people will disagree but I just loved Taken King raid so much and I met a lot of cool people doing the raid
Hey Datto, do you think it's a higher dps if you use the raid scout rifle against aksis, or the devils dawn(or any sniper)when you stun aksis?
the final encounter is really tough at 365, took me 4 and a half hours the first time
Hey Datto, you should do a Sleeper Simulant vs Gjallarhorn review now, thanks
People shouldn't complain about you being "hard" on your team. That's the culmination of all the hard work and grinding to get ready for the raid, and if you guys didn't hold each other accountable you wouldn't have been near as successful. Congrats on 14th, that's a HUGE achievement considering the vast competition that exists. Love the streams, love the content, and happy belated birthday Datto!!
I like this raid a LOT, but I think VoG will always be my favorite raid, just because it was THE raid. it was the raid I stayed up late at night to play on school nights, the raid I shouted at when I got my first Vex, the raid I quit when I saw a teammate get gjallarhorn, it was the best raid and always will be
PvtNuclear who was on the world first team was facing dark red enemies at the end, I don't know what his teammates were at but he had no leveling bonus
Datto do a guide or info on Rise of Iron Book challenges
You should do a Touch of Malice run for Wrath of the Machine.
I hope they make the old raids relevant next year before destiny 2, but spread them out over the year. For example: vog in December Crotas end in April and kings fall in July or something.
Yeah, id always suggest a Teaser over a Trailer. Thats enough to hype the players that will rush into it as soon as it goes live, the more casual players dont need trailers etc. They look towards the content creators and these types of video to get their hype for the Raid.
I'm a 345 light (I got roi two days ago) and I was doing the raid yesterday. During the first boss, the captains are like strike bosses.
Lol alright man im sorry i said you were rude to your teammates i get why you were so intense towards everyone, it actually makes sense and you were having fun i could see that. Keep making quality vids!
Advice? I have beaten Aksis but just wondering..
Should I use the raid scout for DPS or my sniper? (3 bullets, highest impact)?
Currently I use my full mag of scout and get 3 sniper shots in. (I use Raze Lighter for the captains so no Ghorn)
I've been grinding my but off to level and not really getting anywhere so I don't agree that leveling was easy, I'm still at it. I'm only 356 and nervous to do the raid yet but really want to. Been playing since year 1 and this is reminiscent of year one grinding.
Have a question Datto, is it possible for a sun breaker raid party to kill Oryx? I know a bit old but I never found out
Do a Touch of Malice test/run Datto. I'm curious to see the damage with bow, weapons, and blessing on the bosses, I'd do it with my raid team, but we barely beat it once because of the under 18 with parents grind :/
Seeing Athlon fall will always be the most satisfying end to the game I'll ever experience.
Hey Datto, will you be working on the 5th monitor?
the main reason people were able to prepare this much was BECAUSE of Taken King. so it is unfair to compare the two in terms of preperation because before kings fall you couldnt stockpile exotic engrams, which most people used to level up
I’m not sure about your second gripe. I have a hard time hearkening back to the week(s) leading up to KF release but during the majority of YR2 bungie has been giving max level light outside the raid.
I'm not sure where i'd place this raid, I didn't do VoG until shortly before Crota's End HM came out, although I was still at the recommended lvl for it, and it was still my first raid. I loved it then but I don't feel as though Atheon is as good as Oryx or Aksis. This is right up there though for me when it comes to raids and I find it hard to list them. King's Fall was my first blind run so it holds a special place for that reason, and I prefer that the earlier fights have more mechanics than in Wrath of The Machine. All in all though a great raid, with a few really cool sections, that may end up being a little too easy on repeat playthroughs. I can't wait for Hard Mode.
I agree that making it so you can get max gear from everything is a good thing, but I think that should be added after the raid has been completed.
Still waiting on that in game LFG bungo
Got all 5 monitors and the chest! exotic pulse rifle quest!
Finally another CZcamsr who does the raid like my team does most people do it diffrent
Raid gear should have a extra stat on them, that you kinda need in the raid to do decent damage and to reduce damage beyond normal mode. That stat should not offer anything outside the raid, and should not replace other stats or perks. That way, you can use that gear like any other piece.. But you cant out level the raid without actually playing it to get gear.. Similar to GW2 Agony resistance stat in high level fractals.
Finally did it today. I was completely blind, and my friends all had done it. I was 378 and I've done all the previous raids on day 1 besides VOG normal. We were able to do everything but the final boss on the first or second try.
Wrath of the machine is just too short and too easy. We were able to nearly 2 cycle both bosses.
I felt like there are too many areas where even if someone died or you had a bad damage cycle, it was still easy to finish the engagement.
Thanks Datto.
im really thinking about getting the dlc, the problem is that i dont want to play alone, i havent played for almost a year and my clan already moved on so i dont know if i should
VOG will always will be fav
Every one says the siege engine drops the frame rate but for me it's very smooth and fun. Anyone else like that?
