Love ya Tony :) Tony's video I'm referring to czcams.com/video/GdZRDu4-nFg/video.html Was it too blurry?
Lucky you didn't say "your wife".
I was literally watching him after your EOS R video! It came into my recommendation.
Yeah I was cracking up with him using that 50 1.2 and watching that poor EOS R trying to maintain focus at that shallow depth of field.. looking like Panasonic DFD hunting from his shoulder to his nose
@@JackNiles is it going to be all I want is a perfect bokeh size
So ON!😹
Who came back to learn about “Toneh”?
as he didn't use the word once in this video, he must've learned of this sometime after it hahaha.
but it's a great example of lvl 5.5 toneh, had good laughs in both videos :D
This video is still hilarious!
I did!!
Me 😂❤
I did
“Toneh” is in the Urban Dictionary. Congratulations, you’ve made it!
I watch Tony Northrup when I want to learn about Squarespace.
LOL good one, I watch him when I want to hear every lie and fallacy possible about crop sensor camera's!
Mark R, I know Sony Corporation has been busted for paying CZcamsrs for good reviews of their games and movies so I’m sure they pay for good camera reviews. I’m sure they give free camera and lenses to top camera CZcams “influencers” channels like Sony Northrup.
interesting, of course Sony has deep pockets that’s why giving away free cameras and lenses to top camera CZcams influencers in exchange for good reviews means nothing to them.
“Sony Corporation's net worth is estimated at up to $45 billion, while its sales are worth about $70 billion.”
@@TheIkaika777 Actually Canon does this as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if they all do this. Canon was offering certain popular influencers payment for good reviews on the Canon 6D Mark II. It must be an industry wide practice now a days.
Patrick Smith, I don’t doubt that Canon and Nikon do it too. Seems Leica and Fuji are the only ones who don’t.
"Why did you take us to the lake and hide it?"Hilarious.
I lost it as soon as I saw the title of this video!
iPhonedo says the owner of Mango ;)
It’s taken me until May 2024 to discover this peach of a channel. Not many videos on CZcams make me cry with laughter but this did. Spectacular 😂😂
His ears were even blurred out in the last video. That means he can’t even hear us scream to stop down. It was so distracting!
Gold!
ROTFL OMG I can't stop laughing.
Not to mention using a lake as a background and getting the thing both out of focus and over exposed thanks to shooting at 1.2
🤣🤣🤣
Tony owes you big time! He needed this intervention. - Frank
According to Film Riot, that extreme close up with creamy bokeh is supposed to create a disconnect between characters in a scene. It worked. No one felt very connected to Tony.
It makes it seem like the camera defectively nearsighted.
“Your family, they miss you they can’t see you, they don’t know where you are, they’ve been trying to locate you but the backgrounds too blurry” 😂🤣😂
Killer!!!!! hahahahhahahahahahahaha
He is a genius funny man! That was hilarious.
"There's an f2.8 limit now, a curfew, that I've set on Tony Northrup" This is pure gold! 🤣
With a 70-200 that would still be blurry af though.
You had my dying at “it’s micro 4/3, that’s like f/59!”
Try f2.8 at a fortnight
"You turned your family into bokeh, Tony". LMAO.
😂
"Bokeh is the quality, Toneh is the amount of the absurdity bejind you that you're witholding from us."
HAHAHAHAHAHAH "they've been trying to locate you, but the background is too blurry... they miss you" oh god, you're the comedy king. I love how real your message is.
Tony: “Bokeh means high production values” - A super low f-stop/t-stop like Tony is shooting in is often used to hide a set with low productions values. T2.8-4 is way more common in film.
Then there's also the CHAD kubrick that shoots actor closeups on a wide angle lens just to flex his set design.
I'm pretty sure Tony does not know what bokeh is.
I lost my dog to Toneh. I had him in one shot and when I zoomed out and looked again Toneh took him.
"2.8 on MFT that's F59" I laughed hard then cried while staring at my G80 😥
"Why'd you bring us to a lake and hide it!?" I wanna see the lake Tony!
When life gets me depressed I come here to this video and feel at home.
Fucking hell I"m addicted to this channel now XD This is the 12th video I'm watching in a row. You're a great entertainer. Love the fact that this is all pure joy, liker you mentioned in a Q&A video
He’s the absolute best
The same, I watched more than 150 of his videos for the last three days
So many gear reviewers on CZcams, repeating what everyone already knows. You're one of the few authentic vloggers that create valuable content. Irritating, funny, knowledgeable, all in one.
I watched Tony's video the other day, and I've been waiting for your response. It doesn't disappoint.
You are one of the few people that cracks me up in every video. Its been a while since I watched someone with this amazing sense of humor. Kudos my friend. You are awesome. Keep it rolling :)
I come back to this video every 6 months to keep my toneh in check
“I’m in that shot. I’m nowhere else. But in Tony’s shot... I’m in pain.” I cried. 😂😂😂
"Its a good shot. Its cinematic" *black bars creep in* 😂
My favorite part 😂
It was all about Tony's nose. There were shots where the nose was the only thing in focus. Maybe Canon has patented nose autofocus.
Screw Sony Eye AF, Canon Nose AF is where it's at.
It’s a good shot. Cinematic. (Black bars). That’s pure gold!
If Tony doesn’t comment here, it means he’s really got a problem.
Helge Frisenette or a life
David Schloss he needs to take an interest in the environment that earns him a living. And lay off the bokeh addiction.
@@davidschloss2656 hahaha
Or he could, you know, keep making videos that educate people and not read the comments of videos insulting him.
@@davidschloss2656 Or he could take the massive amount of constructive criticism from his fellow videographers and viewers and improve like a regular human being. No one is perfect or right all the time, it's OK, we all make mistakes.

I like he's wife too... ;-)

I’ve never laughed this much at a camera channel video!! I don’t know how I missed this one! Thank you for pointing it out! 😂
Although I also struggle with this addiction myself, I will support and come out for this intervention.
Wes Perry It’s WES!! I watch your videos. Good content!
@@ronyedin Thanks, Rony!
One day we'll all stand strong together and show diffraction we're not afraid of it.
Until that day comes, though, I'll just be over here at f/1.6 😂
You have great videos, dude! I will say, however, that the quality of bokeh in your videos often reaches the point where I think to myself, "he could very well be filming at f5.6 in front of a green screen" because it looks so insanely unnatural, especially when combined with the higher frame rates. I won't lie, it's pretty darn cool sometimes, but it always distracts me and steals my attention.
Hi, my name is Alex, and I am a stereotypical, ADHD, millennial, gear-slut photographer. Might be time for my own intervention at this point. 🥺
Wes Perry 🤣
@@cosmogang i completely agree. So many photography channels are like this now. Just because it has eye AF doesn't mean ONLY the eye should be in focus!
I just shared this video with Chelsea , she loves it.
Next time on vegetable police "why bokeh is bad for the nervous system"
It looks like Tony's kidnappers let him shoot a video while impatiently waiting for Chelsea to transfer the money. We want to see the lake too, Tony.
Just watched this after a pretty rough day…. Thank you for what you do, it’s the funniest thing on the internet.
WT I was only half way through when I first commented!!! I took a sip of coffee and just blow it on my screen. Where have I been in 4 years!!!!
Dude, this is my favorite video of yours...i laughed all the way thru.
Originally I watched the video on an iPhone and I hadn't noticed the problem. Now, on a computer, I see what you and many others are talking about. Love you man. And Tony's wife.
"I want to see the lake Tony!" LOL
This video should have been nominated for (and won) awards. I've started listening to your commentaries while driving - hope you get some radio/satellite stations to pick them up.
Thank you so much for your videos, they improve my mood hugely!
I don't have those 1.2 lenses, just a 50 1.4 and 85 1.8, but I haven't had clients asking me to make the tip of their noses more blurry.
That's why you gotta get a f/0.95 TILT SHIFT lens as well, duh, you can hit a nose and one eye at the same time! Just hide the other eye by only ever doing semi profile portraits.
I'm DEAD right now. Squarespace has Tony caught in the bokeh Matrix. LOL
You did not fail us, my friend. Thank you, once more!
I love Tony's videos, and I just found this channel. I have to say I love the satire. This guy is amazing.
Don't know about anyone else, but half the enjoyment in watching videos outside is looking at all the things in the environment. It's interesting to see other countries surroundings, so don't blur them out..
I burst out laughing when I saw this thumbnails
help! help! same here!
me to,
You made me watch this again.. It's still fkn hilarious!!!
.. I shared it too! Let's see whose humour aligns ;)
I cant explain how much i resonate with his humor
As soon as I saw the thumbnail and title I was almost in tears due to laughter and the video didn’t help either 😂. Honestly absolutely loved this video (as with all your videos). Keep up the great work :))
When tony said, "bokeh is mean high production value", i just cringe 😂
He didn't say that, he said it gives that impression cause we're only used to seeing it in Hollywood movies
@@willherondale6367 You're being pedantic. Tony's meaning is clear. He thinks more bokeh equates to "more professional".
@@willherondale6367 high end movies almost never shoot that shallow dop 2.8-5.6 on most shots
This just in! Bokeh man tells other bokeh man that he's taking it too far
What!? When was Kai on the channel? The Bokeh OG
"why'd you bring us to a lake and hide it?" hahaha
I saw his piece last week! This is the best you're ever done!
Priceless!!!!!
Possibly the funniest single-theme video so far, esp the chopped off head part. Brilliant. Doubly so as you're spot on.
This is an expensive addiction. Sadly (in truth here) this can actually ruin some people's lives financially. I do believe that bokeh is a very important tool to soften a distracting background when it is distracting, but when removing the distraction is a distraction it's a detraction. Thank you so much for providing perspective on this subject. What you're doing is very appreciated😀
Bokeh is used to distract you from how much you are paying for your new lens.
@@patricasmyth4359 LOL That is hilarious, but sadly true. I'm really budget focused, and even so I've actually owned 2 (vintage) f/1.2 lenses and I didn't like using them wide open so I ended up shooting at 1.4 or less (I do admit it was mostly due to bad optics at 1.2, but I still didn't like the look). I DO have a use for f/1.4 lenses though, just not the crazy f/1.2.
"This compliment sandwich is over Tony" lol
this video needs to be watched once every year like Die Hard. the complimentary sneak-diss you didn't know you needed. 😂😂
still some of the best content on the site
Totally agree, painful and confusing, Will be working through this today in my trauma session with my therapist
I was hoping so much that you would post a response to this video, and it did not disappoint!! Laughed all the way through it
I asked the Microsoft Teams Support how they blur their background. They came back to me and said they were using Toneh 1.2. I was so relieved to hear that. So whenever I need that cheap looking shallow DOF, I make a Teams call now. And more importantly, thank you for all your great content! Keep up the good work!
3:30: “ The background was so blurry that it distracted me from the video “ . My god I’m in tears 🤣
Tonys’s video would have been epic, it just needed a minimum of 75 megapixel to really show the true detail of the blur. When the bokeh is not sharp enough, is when it affects the central nervous system. NASA just released an article about this in their magazine called “space bokeh”
"... the detail of the blur." Perfect!
Oh God don't tell him or he will do that with the EOS Rs
Sony has 2.25x better image quality of the blur than Fuji

This is such a classic that came up in my recommendations. I do believe Tony watches this channel faithfully because he makes comments using terms like 3D pop that I’ve only heard here.

I loved how he said they sold a lot of gear and now using Canon. And while talking about Canon's wonderful auto focus... I was watching the focus go in and out... :D
At 1.2 you wont find any camera that doesn't do that

I stumbled upon this channel several months back while researching settings for my camera when I was new to CZcams... you continually inspire me to keep making content man I love your stuff!!!
“Let’s stop down together...” 🤣🤣
I think the early part when Toneh tonehs his family is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Lol 😂 haven’t laughed this much in a long time lollol 😂 😂 this is now my favorite youtube channel
Indeed this is what we need, here's my is my recipe, for Tony.
1 Get a Helios 44-2 58mm Lens
2 Glue Aperture ring to F4
3 Set focus to 1,5m or 5 feet as you know it.
4 Learn to stay put.
5 Learn to avoid Backlit conditions, because all contrast go away.
Easy and requires no camera man :)
I don't have time to watch this video right now, but automatic thumbs up from the title. Tony has taken things too far!
watch it!!!
It’s been 4 years, were you able to find the time?
By far one of the best "roasts" on CZcams!
Haha great video!
Great comparison with that movie "Glass", shallow DOF is only used for some intense moments, but in normal scenes you want the whole face to be in focus and you want to see some of that background, otherwise our brains are working so much to try to figure out what's there, so we can't concentrate on the movie anymore.
This. Is. Amazing. Discovered your channel a few weeks ago and been binge-watching (you’re welcome for all the ad revenue I’ve generated!) …CZcams suggested this one and NOW I finally realise why you’ve been calling f-stops “Tony” in all your videos. HAHAHAHAHA.
It's 2023 and he isn't cured yet
Ha! Right on the head of the nail, my man. You go!
Always enjoyed your unparalleled sense of humour and style.
I would love to see a whole series of reaction videos from this one. Just a bunch of photography geeks roasting each other would be hilarious!
Absolute genius. Nice work, my friend.
I REALLY DONT KNOW HOW MORE CAN I LIKE THIS VIDEO, THIS IS TOO DAMN SATISFIYING 😍😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰
Hella hilarious dude - Bro you are cinematic as F! This video will definitely become the master class on the philosophical aesthetics of Bokeh.
“Can’t find you cuz background too blurry🤣🤣🤣”. 😂
So hilarious!!! I watched your somewhat "TONEH" apology and immediately iYT brought me here.
The part with the head being cut off was the final straw for me lol very unimmersive. He was flexing with the canon about its autofocus but the bokeh just kept going in and out as he was saying it and I was like ???
Great video as always, you seem to be the one stop for funny camera related content. Keep it going
4 years later and still damn funny
What 4k brings to the table is the ability to punch in and pan within the frame such that you don't have to move around like all the epileptic-toobers appear want to do. Then simply deliver a 1080 timeline product.
So you can be lazy beforehand, because you can correct it afterwards. That's good..
Sat in the bath watching this laughed until water went up my nose. Splutter laughing now.
I remember about 7 years ago when I was researching buying my first ever camera and I knew absolutely nothing whatsoever about photography/vidography. I almost didn't buy a dslr because every single example video I could find for a Canon 550D was shot with a shallow depth of field and almost everything was out of focus. People were so obsessed with bokeh that they never stopped down to show the image quality at different apertures, and so I thought that dslr's where solely for that shallow DOF look and that if I bought one then I couldn't have everything in focus. I came very close to buying GoPro instead because I at least knew a GoPro could be totally in focus.
Bahahahahaha
Arguably *THE* best video thumbnail in the history of thumbnails!
Laying in bed trying not to wake up my wife but I can’t stop laughing 😂
I watch this video every Sunday. It sets just the right Toneh for the week!
"You brought us to this beautiful lake... just to NOT show it to us." mic drops
Also me: My lenses start at f4 which is under micro 4 loser like f420.
Only the finest most expensive lenses can yield an image that is mostly out of focus?
I just love this man's micro-expressions. Always fun to see them. It just shows how good he is in front of a camera 👌😩🔥
