- This is the M5Stack Cardputer. New device produced by M5Stack. Another unique ESP32 S3 device with lots of features. Built in display, keyboard, microphone, speaker, IR LED, charger IC, SD card slot and 2 batteries. 120maH and 1400maH. Keyboard can be useful for many tasks but the feature I like most is this large 1400maH battery.
You can check M5Cardputer here: shop.m5stack.com/products/m5s...
Here is code for my examples: github.com/VolosR/Cardputer

This is the device we will fight the Machines with.
Not only does this look pretty cool, but unlike the Flipper Zero, it's also affordable. The FZ also has a pretty big cool factor, but the price makes it a bit prohibitive to buy, have a bit of fun with it, and then forget about it in a drawer.
I have a flipper. I just bought one of these things. Tbh, this computer looks far more useful and practical
What do you use this for?
@@Lord_Marmota I don't use it cause I don't have it. But it can be a cool platform for various experiments. And unlike the Flipper, even if you don't use it, it's pretty cheap.
The only thing the flipper got is the pram, that's about it, people playing almost two months rent for a device that they will as you said, flash it once, not learn anything and boom in the drawer.
imagine having a small foldable screen on this
I would spend all my money on it
They need to make a LORA transmitter attached to an ESP32, with a keyboard and an E-Paper display, so we can finally make the perfect "Doomsday Communicator".
The A1S development board will be perfect for this idea. I was going to use it as an MP3 player or a synth thingy. But I believe what you mentioned will be most beneficial to me.
Something THIS size and with a arm strap, so you can wear it like a PipBoy, would be amazing.
Literally shoving cash your way rn
It already exists, just search for "beepy" or "armachat"
I'm working on an ESP32-based modern recreation of the AIM 65 which is going to include a thermal receipt printer as well as a USB keyboard and a LoRa module.
I received mine today. Am excited to learn more about it and sketches for it would be great to find around. Thank you for sharing this video! You are the best..
Looks like something a modern Dr. Who would carry around to replace his sonic screwdriver.
Almost the same shape as the current sonic. 'Who' knows!
I just got chills from how good it is
I really enjoy your videos! You have introduced me to so many new and fun products. Thank you!
I think the resistor color code example is clever.
Colour 👍
@davidrobertson5700 the best kind of correct (from a certain point of view)
@@davidrobertson5700 gross british
I love the intro. You are creative.
Thanks for the presentation. I'm ordering it now with your affiliate link. M5 has great products, I use their keyboards for some of my products.
I also made a visual resistor calc program, for my electronics students. Don't take the comments of those who disagree with your program too seriously, it sounds like some academic purists who think that if they had to suffer, everybody else should too. Using a visual aid actually helps people remember the meaning of the color bands, the more you use it, the less you need it.
I totaly agree, thank you my friend and colegue teacher.
A resistor color calculater app, way cool, nice work
Very cool! 👍 I like the apps you demonstrated, by the way. Nice work. Thanks for sharing! ✌️✨
Ordered one, just got it. Cant wait to see what this magic box can do. Also got my Raspberry pi 5, completely different end of a wonderful spectrum
Now someone needs to port Doom to it. :)
Doom ain't the standard anymore, can it run crysis?
Great educational, entertaining video with a creative intro that caught our attention and kept us watching!!! I would have liked to heard more about the batteries!
Thank you so much!
That is so cute! Great presentation. Many thanks. Waiting for the Mame port ;)
Your hands look exactly LIKE my hands. Have you been doing automotive suspension work?
M5stack company continues to impress. Pushing the limits. Extremely innovative and very good pricing.
Man, how I’d like to visit shenzhen some day. Can’t imagine. I would spend so much money there.
“Affiliate link will make me rich and I can buy a new car. “ dude, That was very funny!
Your channel is killing it. Thank you.
Thank you my friend. My hands are very often like this, my wife parents have farm so i help them very often
Hey man! Keep doing what you're doing! I really enjoy your videos. Your projects are always interesting and the code is very educational. Personally, I thought the resistor calculator and the programmable pins projects really demonstrated the capabilities of these devices and fired my imagination. Keep on truckin' man! Looking forward to your next one!
Thank you ma, i will try.
I literally want this but with a 3.5 inch screen. Would be the best Cyberdeck ever!
maybe try t-deck ?
I love your voice and inflections
Truly amazing device
This would be great to be used as a cyber-deck (terminal to host option for a quick set of commands before breaking out the laptop). Thanks for the video, ordering from your link, including the LoRa module to be ready to try your examples forthcoming.
Looks cool
As time takes it's toll on the eyesight the small screens are a real drawback, a plugin larger display would be a big plus or better yet wifi to the flatscreen TV. Thanks Volos for showing whats new and available.
this is the cybiko I was hoping they would've made if they were around. I cant wait to get one.
Very cool device
Pretty amazing!
I am really looking forward to your LoRA implementation!
Great little pocket device to carry around. I have a USB dialup modem that I use with my laptop for some very outdated system I work on, along with an RS-422. I'd love to see a terminal program from the carputer so I could use my USB dialup modem with it.
there's a program that you can install to the ESP32 that turns it into a serial modem that connects to your wifi to get internet to any old computer
That looks cool.
I wish they'd mimic Teenage Engineering some more but as a tiny thing.
Nice.
I love your resistor value app. Never listen to the haters! ❤
So tempted to get one, it's very cool and not bad value. Trying to think of an actual use for it though or I'd end up leaving it in a drawer. Lora is a good use but I haven't got into that yet. Tiny email client? Text adventure console?
One should learn the resistor color codes, but a convenient reminder helps prevent mistakes.
The colors are often poorly done and indistinguishable…. better to just measure. Yesterday i actually went to the trouble of reading the colors on a 5.1 ohm resistor with 1% tolerance, but when i measured it, it was 10% out of spec.
And then there's me, colorblind electronics engineer our here trying my best.
This is so cool!
Currently waiting for mine to arrive.
Nice demos. How can I load them as additional programs to the base firmware examples?
Haha, "logical" that was great thank you! :)
Glad you liked it!
It could easily act as a keyboard for my Pico/MMBasic puter projects. It's a lot of wires from 3+ keys and I was thinking of IR input.
"You should learn that, it's basic electronics!" - uh, yeah, and you know what would be a great way to learn it? Writing a friggin program about it!
Haters gonna hate. This device is very cool. Subbed.
That's right, thank you.
SO COOL!
Nice! it would be better if it has a wider screen.
How did you get a video to play? I have images and mp4 on micro sd card but cant view on screen
It would be great to make a bitcoin wallet on one of these
Nice project! The resistor calculator is good for those just beginning in electronics, so bu-hew to the wieners!
Hahah, thats right😀
Ordered one. It’s cool. But I can’t programme and have no idea what to use it for. Looking forward to some basic tutorials I can hopefully watch on CZcams how to load programmes and run them. Hope this leads to a large community.
I hate when feedback is given in a way that discourages people. 9:00 I love feedback, even if it's something I need to work on. Feedback can be presented tactfully and respectfully, or in a way that just makes someone give up and quit. It takes just as much time to burn as to build up, so why not build the person up? I like the computer, and the way it was presented, including the game!
im curious to see what the lego slots can be used for.
❤🎉 Amazing 😊
Did you try Lora with the cardputer?
Owao, amazing
Please do the LoRa setup next. Your views will skyrocket!
Thanks for the review. I have a question for you: what is the board you selected from the Arduino 2 IDE to start programming this device ?
it is M5Cardputer, you will need to install m5stack boards in your Arduino IDE, on M5stack product site you have instructions how to do that.
Very cool device. Ordered. I'll figure out what to do with it later. Thanks for the video.
I want this badly.
hi, liked the video but how did you get it to install a video on the screen (i never programed arduino in my life so i dont know how to do that
Can you help)
More like a cassette tape sized, but cool.
Hello, will it be possible to have an esp32 ttgo lora32 assembly with a tmp117 precision sensor?
cool.
Make me think if you can buy full keyboard to interface into any ESP32. Going to open Ali website and find out.
please do a tutorial to play videos on 240*240 tft display with esp32
No IO GPIO feature, I'm disappointed
Nube here, what kind of stuff can one do with something like this?
Hey, you've created the cell phone without the phone or the touch screen.
How can I put that game on also does your terminal work?
Another nebulus device placed on the market.
So this is Arduboy with Keyboard ))
Buttons for keys are superior imo, how much i hate using half my screen on phone to type.. like take my money and give me less than half the features, filled with advertisments like a tax for living.
Hi Volos - I noticed that you didn't use sprites for SpaceWars.
Was this because it was just a demo, or is there no sprite library compatible with the M5Cardputer?
Hello, reason is, i wroted that game while ago , back then i did not knkw how to use them
Is there a sprite library for M5Cardputer? @@VolosProjects
how acess the logical pins?
Must have some a thick credit cards where you hail from
This doesn't do anything more than what I expect my Flipper to do already but it sure is a cool form factor.
I love seeing more devices like this, bring back the tamagotchi days;
A pergunta que não quer calar... Roda Doom?
Lol, it is Lego compatible!
Would be awesome if they made the same device but with a slider-phone form factor with a walkie-talkie button. Probably could 3D print that, but its a lot of work for me
Edit: Touchscreen and accelerometer would make that even cooler
this device is BEGGING to be used to play doom
I don’t know what this is. What I would do with it. But I want it so bad. It’s sold out though. 😢
It looks like you're in a MYST linking book.
Nice video. Thanks!
Learn color codes is just waste of time. :)
i dont get it. couldnt i just use my phonr for everything this does?
Can it be used a mp3 player
holes in back are for lego technic pins
yes they are
8:38 - ah, memories
Neat
I hope you can get that new car
Not even close, but i have time😀
Ok ok so this looks cool... But what would be the uses for it in the real world??
Lots of uses, especially if you like to tinker. You can put any code you want on the esp32 so like any other hobbyist 32bit computer, the only limit is your imagination. I would use it to control other devices via BT/WiFi/IR, some people might use it as a personal organizer, or network pentesting tool.
Well, I definitely have one idea in mind. I've written a minimal stack oriented programming language and I can use this to write mini programs! Kinda like the 80s pocket computers that came with BASIC or FORTH.
Whatever you or anyone else can program it to do. It's a portable computer, it runs programs, it has a keyboard, a screen and interfaces to connect to other things.
For some reason it reminds me of a ZX81
What would one do with this?
Genuine question as I am interested because it looks so cool but I’m not sure what practical use to get out of it lol
Control tv, or other IR devices, get bluetooth data from alsorts of devuces, learn to code, this is practicly development board , and you can make tons if things, hook up sensors, send data thru internet, use it as clock, stopwatch..... but you need to code it, this is not computer.
how to connect wi-fi xD? i enter to menu see networks but what next? looks like m5stuck
Bought 2 even though shipping could be 60days out.
More like 50 stacked credit cards.
Have you ever seen a usable computer or mobile device that's as thin as a credit card? You do know the term "credit card sized" commonly refers to the width and length, not specificallyt to the height/thickness?
What can you do with these
must get one.
got it today!!
Im new to the esp 32, do you have a tutorial on how to add your resistor calculator to the cardputer, that application is why I bought it because I saw it as super helpful.
I received mine today,, what to do with it, please explain
And what can you do with that?
Yes but can it run doom
1. Is it possible to type this in Hebrew? 2. Can the content then be transferred to a computer?
What does it do can you use it for internet connection access go in CZcams like don’t tell me it’s only for games
this is basicly embedded device , powered by ESP32, pople use it to control theri DIY 3d printers, laser engravers, i am using it to control my lights in hous, to show sensors data on this tiny screen. I also have one i programed to turn on projectors in my schooll, we have more then 20 projectors and they are mostly diferent, now i can turn it with one remote. I also use it as remote control for my tv, you i have video about that remote....it is used for hacking, pranking, for making your own stuff. There is milion uses for this. no it can not stream youtube video, it is still to slow for that. it is 29$ device.
can you make and add external modules like the flipper zero?? i just bought one!
Yes, there is i2c conector, there is many existing modules and you can also make your own.
@@VolosProjects I can’t wait to find out how to make them. I wish more people knew and would start making modules for it! Like super IR blasters.
@@VolosProjects for example, I just bought the t thermal hat for stick c plus, would that module be compatible?
@@Tyler_Rogers no, hat modules are only for m5stich. You can try resolder wires or something similar.. cardputer can accept only modules with groove conector.
It would be cooler if it can be programed without another computer.
First thing I thought of was can you download ide to it and code another esp32😂
