    This may be the most authentic "Bushcraft" video on CZcams! What more could you ask for... catch food, prepare food, prepare firewood, prepare fire materials, make fire, cook food. Done! This is real world use of the Mora. Excellent video, good presentation, and I really enjoyed the music, too. Just perfect. You just earned a new subscriber. :)

      I have butchered plenty of animals in my life. Gone hunting and skinned plenty of animals, thats just part of my lifestyle. And even then i understand that some people might find this graphic and that is completely fine. Its not for everyone. Calling them a pussy for that reason only makes YOU look like an idiot that is trying too hard to look tough. A real man understand that this kind of things are not for everyone and that is completely fine.

      love your videos, but you haven't butchered much huh? well you learn by doing. if you start by splitting the belly skin and take it off like a coat you can save the skin and tan it. rabbit skins make good mittens for the cold. you can use any plant with enough tannic acid to tan with. try it ! learn to use the whole buffalo. lol!

    Stumbled onto your vid - it is greatness! You are so right to say that nearly all bushcraft knife reviews comment but never demo game processing. For me, as a hunter and a bushcrafter, game processing is as important as any other task. One more thing, for people unfamiliar with Mesquite wood. It is not soft pine. It is hard and gnarly wood. Its everywhere here in the southwest. A great test medium for a blade and the ability to process wood and stay sharp. Good job!

    Amigo, Well I just subbed to you. Finally it seems that there is a YT channel (yours) that has some focus on desert survival. I live in southern Arizona and frankly while I really enjoy all my other YT channels that I subscribe to, they are all forest, mostly eastern woodlands or up in Canada oriented. Plenty of wood and water everywhere. Mention the word Mesquite and they have never heard of this wonderful wood at all!! Sigh Great for high heat, low flame fires and it cannot be beat as a cooking wood! Even the scent of the burning wood is wonderful. The one Mora that I own is the Light My Fire version and I simply love that knife. So maybe now it's time to think about adding the Mora Black. Now I will start to explore your videos. Nice job on that Squirrel!

    Wonderful video! I've seen plenty of knife reviews. And yes, Mora's are awesome blah blah blah.. :-D This video was just as much about your skills and experience, which made it interesting and entertaining as well. I also like your voice and demeanor. That's why I subscribed. :-) Keep it up!

    Excellent video. Not a simple "I like this knife because it's sharp." Great detail and cool techniques in each of the demos. This is one of my favorite knives though I tend more towards the Mora Companion just for the simple things I do. The Bushcraft stays on the bike just in case. Thanks for the videos in general. I've learned quite a bit and like how you make it look pretty easy or at lest accessible.

    Great Video..........would have loved to see the performance of the edge of the knife after the wood splitting. Is it hard to sharpen back to a good edge?

    • @JunkyardFox
      @JunkyardFox  Před 7 lety

      the blade was still sharp thought couldve used some stropping. moras are very easy to hone up because of the scandi grind, in a few minutes, youll have it shaving hair of your arm.

    Say Heah, Your right, Mora makes some great knives. But I also what you do. For instance. If I go out in cold snowy weather where processing alot of wood, I take some of my heavier tool's. Sure a Hatchet and Saw are necessary. But also heavier knives. I have a nice stable of those kind of knives. From Busse Combat to Fallkniben to Bark River to Ka-Bar's to my O. K. C's. Not necessary in that order. But my O. K. C. Ranger T. F. I. with my Gen2 SP-53 is one of my Fav's for Winter Weather wood processing knives. Regardless what kind of trip I go on. Infact one day we got hit by a swift storm that had us scrambling in all dirrecriin's. It just so hallened to be I had my Ranger RD-9 and my Ranger Afghan attached to my 3day Condor 2 Pack. with my Jeff White Trade Knife as my neck knife that day. I also got the Browning Independence Fix Blade with Orange G-10 Handle to match the Ranger RD-9 and my Ranger Afghan both with Orange G-10 and in the 5160 and that's why I got the Gen2 SP's. I got the Ranger T. F. I. around the same time I got my RD-9, and the Ranger Afghan and at that time the T. F. I. was advertised as a Tactical/Bush Craft Knife with a 59 RC. but the 5160 at that RC was chippy so they lowered the RC and it still hold's a good edge retentiim even at a lower RC. but being aware of a higher RC. I'm still careful and have no problem with chipping. But anyhow the Ranger RD-9 started to bend as my friend and I batoned through a log much larger than I usually use. since there were two of us on that choir. Anyhow, Thinking the knife was ruined, I told my friend to continue to batin, We got through it alright, But to our surprice the 5160 syraightened out true and that's why I bought my Gen2 SP Series. and believe me no regtets, I still use my faithful Ranger RD-9 and my trusty Ranger Aghan which I like almost better than my BK-2 because of the choil. I akway's have it very shatp and ready for action. Yeah, It all depends Eah. Sane with my Mora , Prolly my Fav. is my Forest Exclusive #277 a Hand-made Mira , a laminated Stainless Blade with a Full Stick Tang with a beautiful harwood handle with a brass bokster and pommel in a beautiful traditional leather sheath. It's Simply TiT's, Beautiful. Then I use my Mora 510 the newer thinner version as my nevk knife with alot of my Trio's (Knife, Hatchet, Saw). It fits with alot of my Trio's and it's a great knife. Infact it has the similar blade on my Classic #1 which I made one if my Fav. Lite Piggyback's. I put a nylon bekt loop on my dangerously loose sheath on my Bokor Black Vox Rold, which I really hurt my foot when it loosely flew out of the sheath and hurt me very bad. yeah, cut my artery. Luvky I was home getting ready to go on a trip. Blood all over the place. Three Days everytime I put pressure on my foot I would bleep porfusly. But I doctired myself. with alittle back ground in medicine. So after I put on the nykin bekt loop the hand guard was alittke loose because of the handle on my Rold, So I slipped my Classic #1 through it and Bingo Bango, Easy Peasy , Nice and Easy it works great, So yeah, It's one of my Fav's Lite Pugguback's for a Trio for working Wood. Yup two good wood working knives. But at first the Mira 2000 didn't lite up my life. Infact I sort of thought it was ugly knife. Until I matched it with my Mira Hatchet and Bacho Laplander for a Lite Trio. It's Awesome. I researched the Mira 2000 and I found out the Military Cadet's use it. That tell's me it's a solid made knife for a military to use. So I saw a intro price on a orange set, but I didn't know the Bacho eas available in orange so I got my Lite Trio in Green. But what a set. I long time ago atleast several years ago I bought some Far Nine Camo Fkap Over Pirses that I use for my Haversack. I knew they wouldn't hikd up I bought four, for $2.99 apiece, I'm still using the first one and no one thinks it's a purse and they all think it's a haversack. and that's how I use it as a haversack for my Lite Haversack. For my heavier haversack I got me a Macledition Kodiak Gearsling which is a Fav. of mine. But yeah, For a Lite Trio. My Mora 2000, my Mora Hatchet and my Bacho Laplander I would pay Triple for this Trio, Once you try this Triple you'll know why. I still ight get the Mora Black, But the Kansbol teamed with the Eldris and the Garberg looks very tempting. Infact I think my next Mira will ne the Garberg. But I really like my Forest Exclusive #277 I wish I could still het the larger Forest Exclusive 311 it's almost the same difference between the Classic #1 and #2. Yeah the Forest Exclusive looks like a more sleak Classic #1 which still fits my large hand like a glove. Great revie, Thanx You.,,.

    This is a great demonstration of the Bushcraft black. Love your work mate. You’re a pleasure to watch. I think it’s a bit funny that even 6 years ago, you needed to put a graphic warning on this video. A lot of people don’t think about where their food comes from. I started hunting at 8 years old but not for a long time now. I was a late beginner.
