AKI's gameplay glowup is honestly really cool. I was wanting to learn her last season but the repeated notion from people that she wasn't good admittedly turned me away from her. She has such a cool character design. She'll definitely be someone I look into after i'm done riding my Akuma high. 😁
You definitely shouldn’t play characters based on what other people think of them. Every character is good enough to reach the top rank. Tier lists only matter if you want to compete and win prizes. I know reddit people will swear that players shouldn’t waste their time on “weak” characters, but then again, i wouldn’t really listen to plat modern Ken players when it comes to that. People at the top now might be at the bottom in season 3. It’ll just become a frustrating cycle if you pick up and drop characters based on tier lists.
@@arpadszabo661 How good a character is still matters for using them at lower levels dude. Just because you can take a char to the highest ranks doesn't mean some might be more frustrating to learn and do so with than others.
@@arpadszabo661 An issue with A.K.I's previous weaknesses was they made it so that you had to work a lot harder with her than say Ken or Luke to be effective, so the feeling that you have to work harder to potentially get less results than the easier character who's washing you can understandably be deflating. She's still a complex character but at least they've buffed her fundamental capabilities now to feel more on par. It's the case for a lot of FG characters that sticking with them produces results, like MVC2 Anakaris for example, but it doesn't mean there isn't an inordinate difference in time needed between certain characters to produce said results.

For perspective I was playing Leroy in T8 before his buffs, I think playing weaker characters is better for learning than flowcharting with a character with next to no weaknesses. I get that it's feel good shenanigans to deny that it has an impact but if you wanna be a smart player you're gonna need to be aware of the challenges different characters' toolkits are gonna offer, for better or worse.
AKI got some great buffs. She already had great ways of dealing with fireballs (her own fb, snake slides, stance under) but that dive being projectile invincible got us Juri players foaming at the mouth ngl
Most intruiging Charakter Design for me, the mid range Control possibilities, the poison mechanic, versatile moveset in General and of course the Bad ass drip
I play aki on modern. She thaught me a lot about combos, even on modern. I actually like how it allowed me to learn while having a backup. If i did her basic combo of heavy into snake step, if i missed it, at least the auto combo would come out. These days that rarely happens, but modern just made it more enjoyable to learn the game. I picked her up after i made diamond on lily first.
i’ve been in love with aki since the roster leaks she’s one of my favorite characters in anything ever. plus she lowkey has the best outfit 3. queen ❤️
I think, as a Sim main, my least favorite match up has changed from Cammy to AKI. Haven't played a ton since the patch, though. And not run into many Cammy's so I've not really gotten a feel for hard they hit knuckle.
i imagine if anything gets nerfed it would be aki’s dive. You’re able to just completely shut down certain characters fireball game. Akuma can’t even charge fireball from full screen safely

Lemme tel you how it works 1st off it’s a prediction move, you can only land it if you predict the enemy gonna do fire ball again. It has over 20 frames of start ups, really long. You really can’t use it on reaction. 2nd if you think it shut people down, it doesn’t. If you get baited to dart across and they block it, that’s a free game for opponent. 3rd THE ONLY WAY you will die because of dive is that you messed up big time and let her poison you. So that is on the player not the move. It only shutdown people that does not know match up and can not play the game fundamentally. Which on high level that dive is just a normal dive. On higher level like Diamond to master people uses fireball differently in the way that the dive could not shut it down (midrange footsies fireball). Don’t worry, it’s not broken.
@@eebbaa5560 I definitely don’t think aki is overtuned or anything. But few other characters can fully shut down fireballs from any range like that. Only one that comes to mind is jp’s spike who’s a zoner himself. I dont think it needs to be nerfed or anything, but it is pretty crazy imo

Instead of bottom tier AKI is mid tier at best now. This is very stupid given how a bunch of other bottom or low tiers somehow got worse or stayed the same after the patch. There was only a few in low or bottom tier that actually got needed substantial buffs that brought them up a tier. Even though needed buffs for many of the characters in the lowest tiers are obvious and could be easily implemented. Capcom waits a whole dam year and still doesn’t understand the biggest issues with these characters. At this point they are just lazy, ignorant, and just straight want certain characters to struggle way more than in this game than others.
