  • Pharmacy shelves are empty. Every morning, long lines form outside supermarkets as early as 5am, for a chance to buy one of the few food staples for sale. As Cuba’s welfare system is failing, dissidents at home and in exile have set up informal distribution systems to pick up the slack.

It hurt my heart meeting people and them asking me for the clothes off my back. I wish I knew the situation before I went because I could’ve brought a suitcase of clothes and toiletries to give away. There are numerous others in Cuba that support the revolution and the government but these will be edited out for your viewing by western media so you can make comments like this! Use your head look deeper than what you are being presented by western media. Most Citizens are protesting in support of the government and down with the US blockade. What is not mentioned in this video is that the embargo on Cuba is the longest in modern history and is one of the most comprehensive. The UN General Assembly has voted every single year since 1992 to end it and with unanimous consent every single time except for the US and Israel. These countries simply ignore the resolution. A majority of economic experts agree that Cubas lack of economic growth is largely because of these sanctions. Not at least historically because a lack of education or institutions. It has completely stunted the economic development of Cuba and has risen to the level of economic warfare and genocide. It bars all forms of trade completely that are in the interest of Cuba and its purpose is to make Cubans poor and destitute. Before someone complains about "OMG socialism!" I'll remind you that we not only do not sanction Saudi Arabia we are allied with them and that country had an American citizen executed and dismembered and we did nothing.

      Not really.
The embargo not only disincentivizes trade, but also outright economically punishes nations/corporations that trade with Cuba by barring them from the US market for long periods of time. So China has to be clever to work around the embargo. Did you know that medical supplies bound for Cuba from China didn't arrive because the Colombian vessel that would have to complete the shipment wasn't allowed to do so? Did you know that the US and Israel were literally the only two nations on earth to vote 'No' to lifting trade restrictions.. and because they're in place at the order of the US they'll just remain in place regardless? It gets deep.
Ask yourself this: if Cuba was given the freedom to do business with whomever they please, whenever they please, would they still be in this situation? Don't deny the impact of this six-decades long embargo, which only exists because Cubans, once upon a time, dared to chart their own path which ran counter to what the US decreed for them.
Also, it's an island afterall. Compare it to other Caribbean islands and you'll see that generally over the course of its communist history it has performed significantly better than its "free-market" (American pet state) peers *despite* the embargo.

They tell the rest of the world what the rules are and demand everyone play their game; all rule breakers will be crushed. The embargo is just a tool to economically destroy Cuba and cause an uprising.. and when that happens you'll still blame communism.

Don't get me wrong, I feel for all who suffer from a failing health care system. But, Michael Moore gave me the impression Cuba's health care system is superior to what we have in the U.S. Does this mean we, in the U.S., are suffering even more than the Cubans?

Now look at the USA - 60 million people turned to food banks, food pantries, and other private food assistance programs in 2020. What about them, are you equally outraged, or are you turning a blind eye and suddenly less critical?
Solution - end the blockade. End capitalism. All power to the working class.

      1) The embargo started with Cuba stealing all the US owned factories there, then aligning themselves with the country that wanted to nuke us, but close enough to actually do it. 2) The embargo doesn't restrict food or medicine. While there was speculation the travel restrictions limited the flow of medical information, the internet is a thing now and the whole world has travel restrictions because there's a pandemic. 3) Russian oligarchs took all Cuba's money in the 80's, which did far more damage than the embargo ever did. 4) Obama did a LOT to re-establish relations with Cuba, including offering a tractor factory, fiber internet, ferry service and a cargo ship to and from Florida - most of which was rejected by Cuba. Especially the tractor factory. It was going ahead until Castro found out one of the Americans recently obtained Cuban citizenship - and Cubans aren't allowed to own factories in Cuba, because that's how communism works (it would probably work better without greedy dictators at the top). So anyway, now Cuban farmers don't have enough tractors, and there's not enough food.. for some reason. 5) You live in LA, I don't want to hear it from you; I was there distributing PPE for the riots and getting cops arrested by the FBI, while you were buying toys from billionaires and goofing off with celebrities
